A group of six of us came for Saturday brunch. The décor was cute and inviting, but this did not make up for the lack of service. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, despite asking a server to check on the status. When finally served, our food was fresh and delicious. However, I can find Mediterranean food elsewhere with much better service.

I just walked out of one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had in my entire life. My 2 friends and I walked into this restaurant because it appeared cute and we were looking for a quick brunch. Everything was fine at first. After ordering, coffee and waters were brought out very quickly. When the food arrived, only 2 meals came and we assumed(no one acknowledged we were missing an entire meal) that the third was on its way. Both meals were almost inedible. The pancakes were terribly dry. The eggs Benedict was served with fully cooked hard boiled eggs and the side potatoes were so salty and chewy that I couldn’t bite into them. We realized that no one working even acknowledge we were still waiting for my friends meal. Now I felt rude that I had eaten most of my meal and she still had nothing so we finally flagged down a waitress who didn’t even know we were waiting for more food. She did not apologize. 20 more minutes pass. My other friend and I have now finished our food completely and nothing has been brought to our table for my hungry friend. The waitress laughed in my face when I told her I felt this was unacceptable and she basically shrugged at me. I guess they deem this service normal here’ No apology was given just a «it will come out eventually». We said we did not want the food and we wanted the check so we could leave and go some where else so my poor friend could get something to eat. They refused to accept this and would not bring us the check. Another 10 minutes pass and a plate of food is brought out… Not even the meal my friend had even ordered! At this point we were all laughing out loud at the pathetic service in this other wise adorable restaurant. After this atrocious experience they had the nerve to charge us for the(gross) coffee!!! I just can not believe this experience I just had and I need Unilocalers to hear it!

Friends and I tried to go to Penelope post-Jonas Snowmageddon 2016; the wait was 45+ minutes so we popped into Lallisse instead. The five of us were seated right away – it was surprisingly dead. Experience averaged out to fine. Nice décor and table settings; pretty slow service(we were done eating for 20 minutes before we got our check, and this in a basically dead restaurant); they gave us a really hard time when I asked to sub out mushrooms for spinach in their omelette; food was average(really fluffy yummy eggs, lackluster French toast); fairly average pricing for the area($ 15 for an omelette) but not really worth the money. Wouldn’t go again on purpose, wouldn’t avoid like the plague…3 stars.

Lallisse is a hidden gem in Manhattan!!! My wife and I went there for dinner with another couple of friends and we had a wonderful time. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable on wines and served us a great red one! The food was excellent and the smells of Mediterranean cuisine were exceptional! I will totally recommend this place and will be definitely back!

I had a great dinner with two friends. We had hummus, bruschetta, I had lobster ravioli with shrimp and mussels and my friends had salmon with roasted Brussel sprouts. We enjoyed everything! I loved the ravioli so much that I went home and ordered it as takeout for delivery for my husband! The owner sent a thank you desert for my patronage. How awesome and rare is that? And the wine list is wonderful. They have a Sancerre that I loved. Can’t wait to go back!

Great atmosphere and excellent service, the Hanger steak was cooked perfectly and the Brussels sprouts were to die for. Server was amazing, I know nothing about wine, he gave me a few wine tasting till I found one I liked. Definitely returning and would absolutely recommend it !!!

Came here after the brunch wait at Penelope was an hour and a half. Got a quick table for five which we were grateful for. very very very slow service. Took 20 minutes to get our first drinks, never asked if we wanted more drinks, and never refilled our water. Mediocre food(very dry pancakes, none of the eggs were made the way we asked). If you’re looking for a cute and relaxed brunch this is not the place.

Great atmosphere and excellent service! The Mediterranean omelette was to die for. The peppers were sautéed and blended in beautifully with the omelette. Side salad with light olive oil based dressing was delicious. Meal plus mimosa for $ 19.95 makes it one of the best values in the city. Super sweet server. :) I’ll come back next time I’m I. NYC.

Food was good. Drinks were good. Service was attentive and friendly but… Nothing special. If you’re in the area and you want a good brunch, this is a great place(and no crazy wait time like Penelope’s). But if you’re going to take the subway to get here, don’t bother.

So hopefully this was a one time thing and they were having a bad day. Just got into the city and this was the first spot my lady and I went to. She had this on a list of places she really wanted to go. Unfortunately we came in during brunch and they didn’t have the menu we wanted, but that happens. So we grabbed a beer/sangria and drank them while deciding our next move. Lots of fruit flys, again, something that happens in restaurants. The problem came when we were done. Three employees. One seemed to be a manager. Not one of them gave any attention to us. The woman who kept walking behind the bar was on her phone and making tea for herself. She would walk and do something, come back and text, walk away. No interest in even making eye contact with us. Another employee came to talk to her. Wouldn’t make eye contact with us. We had money and empty glasses in front of us. No notice given. We ended up just doing the math ourselves and left money and walked out. Not even bad service. Just complete lack of it. Went from excited to never coming back. Kudos.

Came for lunch and got the two course for $ 10 deal. The 1st course lallisse was pretty good. I got the spicy romesco and my SO got the hummus, we mixed them both for each bite and it was phenomenal. Main course we both got the prosciutto sandwich which came with mozzarella and mint as well as a side salad. The bread was rock hard, we tried chipping off some but was inedible. So we told the waiter who brought out the second sandwich on regular white bread, which was actually toasted too much AGAIN. It was at least edible and we were hungry so we just ate it. Would have been a great experience all around but the two-time bread fail ruined it a bit. The red sangria is very refreshing though!

This place is amazing! I live right across the street and it is one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. I have been here so often and it never lets me down. The food is consistently good and the service has always been fast and friendly. This place is not associated with the hotel next door. It is an independent restaurant. It seems like most people try this place because they don’t want to wait on line at penelope. This is a shame because it really is a nice spot with a good vibe and yummy food. I have had the kale salad, hummus, tomato soup and lentil soup, avocado bruschetta, sundried tomato spinach ravioli, and a few of the cheeses. Everything is very good quality and delicious. They also have a great selection of wines. Hani is usually the bartender /server. He is very nice, attentive, and great to chat to. Ozcur is the owner and is also great. I recommend giving this place a try if you haven’t yet. You won’t be disappointed.

Lallise is located across from Penélope, popular place seats available every hour. Lallise, I believe, is part of a hotel restaurant. The place is very welcoming and the décor young and hip. I really enjoy their lunch specials like the yogurt dip with pita chips(always warm) and the vegetarian sandwich, has portabella mushrooms with a side of greens. The service is fast and food service is good. Definitely a spot for me and friends.

Went here for brunch at 2 on a Sunday. The food was really good, but the service from the waiter was awful. It wasn’t too busy and after waiting for 20 minutes the waiter finally came over to take our order. He was super quiet and didn’t say much to us at all. We only saw our waiter once the entire meal, and that was only when he came to take our order. We had to flag down the bus boy each time we wanted water or more drinks. I really hope the bus boys get a fair share of the tips because they were the only ones to stop at the table and check in. When the check came they undercharged us(we’re not complaining) and it seems this place does not have their stuff together… overall great food but bad service. Won’t be back again

3.5 star review. Not gonna lie, I ended up here because I did not want to wait on line at Penelope’s for brunch, which is just across the street. It’s not that I’m not a fan of Mediterranean food, it’s just that I was wary about what kind of brunch options they would have since I was expecting more of a fusion brunch menu, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that their menu included traditionally American brunch items, such as eggs benedict and french toast. But, they also have hummus platters and omelets with tangy twists, such as their Eggs & Merquez, that has lamb sausages and mesclun salad. So, you win either way! It turns out that Lallisse is also a wine bar but I’ve only been here once for their brunch. As soon as you walk in, you’ll notice it’s clean and well-lit. And there are pieces of colorful fabrics and tapestry hanging on the walls to add to the Mediterranean feel. We ordered their hummus platter and smoked salmon eggs benedict. The hummus platter needs a little work when it comes to their presentation and I couldn’t tell if they made it on premise. It comes with enough pita bread but they gave us another plateful because we asked nicely. The smoked salmon eggs benedict were just as good as they would have been at Penelope’s. Just as I mentioned in my review for Penelope, I think one of the main reasons why Lallisse does well is because of the lack of good brunch options in the Murray Hill and Kips Bay area. The only other option aside from Lallisse and Penelope would be Barking Dog or a bagel shop.
