LaCrasia is a legendary STAPLE of the New York Garment District. I work in made-to-measure couture clothing, and we refer all of our clients to LaCrasia for their artisan crafted made to measure gloves that are head and shoulders above any other glove vendor in Manhattan. I even have several pairs of my own, and I treasure them. I never pass up an opportunity to refer friends and clients to them, and every referral has become a loyal customer and sincerely thanked me for introducing them. Once you wear them, you’ll be hooked :)

Ordered a custom pair of LaCrasia gloves which was a gift and was told they would be ready in 2 weeks. After two follow ups by phone and almost 9 weeks later, I called a third time to ask for a refund. I got the refund and a «sorry about that.» For the time I spent going there(207 W 38th St.) getting sized, and placing the order, I thought maybe they would offer some compensation but nope. Fully deserves a 1 or 0 for their service or lack there of.

HORRIBLE experience with LACRASIA!!! Ordered custom-made suede opera length gloves. Was measured by a pleasant gentleman, Jay Runkle. When I picked up my order and tried the gloves on, what was supposed to fall midway between my shoulder & elbow quickly drooped all the way down below my elbow like a damp rag clinging on for dear life! Shockingly, LACRASIA never once offered to correct these ill-fitting gloves, instead made excuses saying they were suede(implying that the glove slouching down 5 inches was due to the material) and that the elbows need a little room to bend(but 2 gaping inches worth off the arm? Be for real!) A wonderful Indian-looking woman came to the rescue and quickly made an alteration. She ended up making two more little nip-tucks, each time amazingly coming back with the gloves less than 2 minutes later. LaCrasia became annoyed that her seamstress was actually RESOLVING the problem and angrily BARKED that this wasn’t working, that I(the customer) didn’t understand that opera gloves don’t stay up and therefore just take my money back! REALLY! I wanted to wear the gloves the next morning to a family funeral and can only guess I must have been suspended in some temporary emotional state as to why I didn’t take my $ 200 cash back after giving her a piece of my mind and then flee from her DEPLORABLESERVICE!!! The seamstress near pleaded with her that she just needed to make 1 more adjustment. Lacrasia TRIFLINGLY spewed out this would be the LASTTIME(that the seamstress would be allowed to actually CUSTOMIZE my CUSTOMORDER!), before clunking to the back deriding Runkle for selling the gloves to me for ONLY $ 200! I retorted, «GODFORBID the seamstress spend another TWOMINUTES getting the gloves to actually fit properly!» About 30 seconds later, the seamstress returned with a MUCH-IMPROVED glove — not quite perfect, but at least wearable. My experience with Lacrasia, however, proved EXTREMELYUPSETTING!!! The 1 star rating is ONLY for the seamstress who took an extra FIVEMINUTES to CARE! They are NOT the only game in town. Please, spare yourself the drama and go elsewhere where they pride themselves on their work, and at the very least adhere to the most basic principles of customizing CUSTOM orders!
