When I googled«cheap food finds in NYC,» Kimchi Taco was one of the places that showed up and it was our first stop. You can find it on 45th and 6th and we got there a little before it opened and the line was not bad at all. The wait for food was probably 5−10min. One of my friends got the burrito($ 9) and my friend and myself shared the taco combo which was three tacos for $ 10. I think the cook there had gave us the wrong ordered so I couldn’t even tell you which tacos we actually ate. The crispy chicken was the best I believe. At least thats what I thought it was. Cheap food truck and cool concept. Worth trying out.

Ordered a Short-Rib Kimchi bowl. Negatives: Waited a long time for the food. Ordered white rice, got brown. There was very little rice. There was even less short rib. The smell of the kimchi wasn’t very pleasant at all(I’ve had kimchi many times before) For $ 9.50, it was not worth it. I would give it 1 star, but I’ll just chalk this up to an «off-day» for them.

I didn’t eat here but my coworker had a horrible experience. He complained nonstop about how terrible the food was, claiming it tasted like plastic. He also thought the portions were too small(like that Woody Allen quote). He doesn’t have a Unilocal account so I’m reviewing on his behalf. His name is Ben. Kimchi Taco, shame on you.

Found this truck on 45th and 6th. Not a bad lunch. Got the spicy pork burrito for $ 9. It had nice flavor and seemed pretty big in size — similar to Chipotle. But like other reviewers have mentioned, they really skimp on the meat — so you’ll need to decide if a $ 9 mostly-veggie burrito is a good deal. Also got a small kimchi fries for $ 5. They definitely load it up with more toppings than fries, but the flavor was good. Overall, decent

Got the three taco combo at 46th&6th — Short Rib, Spicy Grilled Chicken, and Spicy Pork… because they were out of Fried Chicken, Fish, and Falafel. Tacos were underwhelming, some good flavors but overall not very balanced, and they didn’t taste as fresh as I expected. The service was extremely quick, but the tacos were cold, and it may be my fault for expecting them to be somewhat warm, but that’s that. $ 10 for three tacos ain’t bad though.

After battling traffic and some crazy meetings, we stopped at Kimchi Taco and it was AWESOME. We did the fish tacos and the carnitas tacos. A little on the small side, but delicious. Well seasoned and not too busy like most tacos can get. We decided to order more since we were definitely still hungry and did the kimchi quesadilla. DEFINITELY worth it. The drinks are strong here and the staff was very nice. Good thing they’re not too close to me otherwise I’d be there far too often.

I think the tofu edamame bowl is the best. The cashier is beautiful.

The atmosphere was perfect, low key and friendly. They tacos — I tried the beef short rib, fish and chicken were all delicious. I wish had more room to also try they falafel edamame but that means I will have to come back. My friend had the pork burrito with hot sauce and guac and raved about the kimchi refined beans.

This truck was at Electric Zoo. Saw their interesting concept and had to try it. Got the Korean BBQ short rib, pork, and crispy fish tacos. Overall were definitely good, but I felt the amount of meat was just a little small. And I’m not sure how well the kimchi flavors worked with some of the meats. I also agree that the super spicy wasn’t that spicy. Overall, a decent food truck, not a bad option.

Got the rice bowl extra spicy with crispy fish and was disappointed :(I love spice and loved the kimchi(reg & cucumber) but there was way too much liquid all over the bowl, so the rice couldn’t even soak it up. There were a total of three fish pieces too, so it was a weird ratio spread out across the rice. I asked for a recommendation as to which meat I should get and was suggested the fish so I went with it but it didn’t really meet my expectations. Yess it was for sure crispy but some parts seemed like more crisp than substantial fish & it tasted kind of old like it had been sitting out. Honestly I feel like the whole Korean + taco thing is overplayed at this point and people need new fresh innovative food ideas!!!

Tried the truck at jazz on the Great Hill in Central Park. The line was very long but it moved along quickly and they were really cranking out the orders. I had the crispy fish and the tofu falafel and really enjoyed both, with a slight preference towards the fish. I ordered extra spicy but didn’t find it to be too spicy but I may be pretty hardcore when it comes to spice.

Spotted the truck on 52nd&6th. The kimchi arancini are delicious! Fried little balls of rice that are crispy and creamy and spicy, definitively worth a try. I opted for the 3 taco combo and got short rib, pork and fish. They were good, but the taco shells were on the hard almost stale side. The short ribs were tender and scrumptious topped with red cabbage and pear kimchi slaw. Seasoned well with a hint of spice from the kimchi. The spicy seared pork were quite tasty. The krispy fish had such potential but the fish was way over cooked so it was tough. It was topped with chipolte aioli, mango, kimchi slaw and daikon. Great flavors but the fish itself fell flat. A friend got the burrito and it was loaded with rice and beans and while it was really good, it could have used a bit more meat. Overall enjoyable with great flavors, but with a few flaws.

I ordered from the Kimchi Taco Food Truck located at Bryant Park today. Needless to say, the wait was pretty long, only because there was an enormous amount of people and it was during lunch hour. The crispy fish and bbq short rib taco was so delicious. The sour veggies and mango salsa was so flavorful. I loved it. However, the spicy chicken wasn’t as good. It is made fresh, in front of you, and served hot. It was so yummy. The kimchi fries had more kimchi than fries. The toppings with the fries were slacking. There were a few black beans here and there. The cheese was okay. I felt like I was mainly eating only kimchi. The korean bowl with crispy freid fish was the best of all. It was packed with assorted veggies and sauce. It was great.

Tried all 6 options for $ 20 at the Louis Armstrong fest(3 for $ 10…times two… REALLY confused all staff members) — mostly enjoyed all but the tofu falafel, which was dry. No noticeable kimchi funk in the purchased product, just in the air around the truck. And extra spicy packed zero heat.

The short rib burrito is excellent! Got it extra spicy and it was manageable but still had a very good kick. My friend got the three tacos combo and he said they tasted fine but not quite filling for the money paid(think it was 3 tacos for 10 bucks).

Kimchi Taco was a sponsor at an event I helped plan. We loved their flavor and unique menu items. They were a little slow at first to deal with the crowd, but once they got a groove, they worked really well with a large group. They also comped us some delicious food after the event, which was super nice. Great to have them as a partner!

I decided to try 3 tacos. 1. The BBQ korean short rib 2. Spicy Grilled Chicken 3. Tofu Edamame Falfel The size wasn’t huge, its a good snack, not a meal. The tofu edamame falafel was interesting. It was healthy yet delicious. I gotta say my favorite was the BBQ korean short rig.

Would have been four if they got the order right — but it’s till good enough to give it three(unless a vegetarian — then a wrong order could be very wrong. Three tacos for seven and gnocchi — not traditional but good(made with rice.) when they say spicy they mean it — have a drink handy. Fish and chicken were good — the falafel itself was good but not digging the taco form, more of a classic gal when it comes to Mediterranean(especially having eaten the food while on a trip.) none the less this was a full in a good way place. Easy to eat in an outdoor setting — great truck food(coming from a Rutgers chick.)

I met up with my gf for lunch here-well it was near the City Center. Since it was bitterly cold out, there wasn’t a huge line and I decided on the 3 taco combo with an extra buck for the fried chicken special taco-the other two being the short rib and pork. The lady got the tofu edamame with ‘Spicy Korean Rice Gnocchi’ as a side. The tacos each had a their own character but that was because of the garnishes. I couldn’t taste the character of the proteins. The pork taco being the most flavorful, again because of the gochujang, pico and kimchi. The kalbi was okay, with the filling being the most flavorful of the bunch. I got a lot of crunch from the fried chicken taco but couldn’t taste much else. Similarly, the tofu edamame was not that impressive for the lady friend. The dukbokgi, which is what the Rice Gnocchi was supposed to be was absolutely terrible. We opened the container to find six pieces of really sad looking duk. The rice cakes seemed undercooked, the red pepper glaze wasn’t smothered so much as just squeezed out and the cheese didn’t make it taste better. The tacos were just okay, and the absolute abortion that was their dukbokgi made it a little disappointing.
