Katya is a genius with short edgy haircuts. She has a keen objective eye for what suites your look and reflects your individual style and personality. I think the latter is what makes her especially good at what she does — she really listens to what you are trying to go for and takes the time to think through it with you.
For me personally… I went from super long straight classic hair, which I had for years and had been growing tired of for months, working up the nerve to get it cut.
The haircut she gave me was über short by comparison, with bangs and layers… and I loved it! She has cut my hair since for a good three years. We’ve evolved the original cut over the months, with different bangs, layers and lengths. My hair is very porous soft and slippery, kind of a nightmare to manage when you are half awake in the morning and it is humid out the way it gets in New York. With what we came up with, all I needed was a comb and some spf conditioner to tame it down. Then it fell naturally into place, and looked amazing every time.
Her studio is a five-​minute walk from BDFM and NQR at 34^th street, and her rates are very reasonable compared to any good Manhattan or Brooklyn salon… Good being one that offers thoughtful, creative and meticulously executed cuts. I paid $ 60 every 3 or 4 months for my short dos.
