Spend hundreds many thousands of dollars at this place over the years. Raised prices within notice and tried to lie about the price increase. They couldn’t care less. Dry cleaners are a dime a dozen in this city and tons of places are honest and care about your clothing and won’t lie to your face. Apparently based on the other views this is a reoccurring theme. I wouldn’t ignore this review and beware that this place isn’t going to give you anything if they ruin your clothes and they are going to do what is best for them at all times. HORRIBLE and PATHETIC business.

Horrible. Actually the worst dry cleaner and customer service I’ve ever experienced in ten years of being in NYC. I readily ignore obnoxiously terrible reviews, assuming that something specific happened in a one off situation that perhaps should be ignored — PLEASEDONTIGNORETHISREVIEW! J’s has lost multiple items, claims zero responsibility for any mistakes and outright lies to you in person when called out for such mistakes. 1. They lost many socks and make no effort to retrieve, also saying they have no obligation of responsibility to monitor wash and fold. 2. I sent an admittedly old cashmere sweater to be dry cleaned and was appalled to see I had been charged a $ 20 alteration fee on top of the dry cleaning fee! Upon confrontation the manager told me they can’t clean things that have holes so they went ahead and sewed the hole. Firstly, that’s a lie based on many other dry cleaning experiences. Secondly how dare you charge me without asking! Third when I said this, I was BLATANTLY lied to and told«we called you but no answer» oh really??? My voicemail and my husbands phone are both working and on file — don’t you dare lie to me!!! Also, again, no answer should mean you wait until you do something without permission!!! When confronted I was met with hostility, barely English language sentence fragments and rude, incoherent lies. Absolutely the worst I have ever experienced. 3. Oh also, I was eventually told I’d get the $ 20 refunded and 2 months later and three follow ups no such luck. I’ve obviously switched places and you should never do business here. Celestial down the street is infinitely superior!!!

Great place to go if you want the owner(who can’t speak English other than curse) to ruin your shirts, accuse you the customer of lying when you show him the ink and dye stains that’s were not there when you dropped off your laundry and then threaten to call the«cops» because you the customer are clearly trying to fraudulently claim that they ruined your shirts. And this is after being a loyal customer for over three years. So bad that you keep wondering when candid camera is going to jump out. But, no, he’s really that bad. And rude. And a lot of other unmentionable things.

Absolutely ask how much it will cost when you are dropping off. You may choose to go elsewhere, I certainly will from now on.

Nothing but good things to say about Js Cleaners. It is right across the street from my apartment building, so I’ve been using this place for almost 3 years. The people that work there are nice(one time I picked up some clean clothes and it was pouring rain out, and the guy actually crossed the street with me with an umbrella so I didn’t get the stuff wet… talk about service). Their prices are pretty good, compared to other places I’ve looked at, and what’s more, THEY’LLPICKUPFORFREE. If I leave some shirts or whatnot in the lobby of my building, they will come pick it up for free – awesome. I’ve also never waited more than 2 days to pick up laundry I’ve dropped off. I hope Js remains here for a long time.
