Re: Janovic Paint & Decorating Center /Benjamin Moore Paints speciality at 292 Third Avenue(22⁄23) in Gramercy, New York, NY10003 This used to be, about five or years ago, a decent business to go for quality paint, advice, professionalism, and friendly help. We spent hundreds of dollars there back then, and clearly we now feel betrayed. In our present day returns in 2014 and 2015, everything has changed for the worse. Our experience there has been a horror. We don’t understand what has happened. The staff absolutely DONOT want to assist the customers. They laugh at you, even, and disappear. They say they will«be right with you», and never come. We are not exaggerating. They push you to read the pamphlets, choose your own path and colors, give no advice on the diverse, speciality Benjamin Moore paints, and state adamantly that they have no opinion. They offer absolutely zero assistance. We can’t believe that this was once a prideful Benjamin Moore paint outlet. We were so angry with our last visits to seek guidance and make purchases for our new residences,(last and last visit in March 2015) that we left disappointed, frustrated, and outraged. We vowed and refused to ever return. This is an opportunity for another quality paint manufacturer to move in and show what excellence, sustainability, longevity, brand stature, and loyalty to customers and consumers means. They have lost our business. We advise that one avoids this location like the plague unless the company takes a hard look at what their employees are doing and not doing, show some accountability, and prove that they want our business! It was almost as if the staff didn’t want us to buy anything. And they got their wish, we didn’t buy anything. Save your money, your time, and your honor.

Bad customer service at the Gramercy store and bad service over the phone. Actually, no customer service over the phone at their main number. The salesman at the Gramercy location is MIA and there’s no one else that can help with the blinds or shades. How do they stay in business?

Stood around for 30 minutes before I could get the attention of any of the two whole people«working.» When I finally managed to catch someone’s attention and asked a few questions about paint and colors, they offered zero help and just pointed to the selection while starting a conversation with someone else. Thanks, dude. Had to stand there for another 15 minutes until that conversation was done, at which point the man glanced at me and then just disappeared into the back for a while. After he finally reappeared, I had to again wait for him to acknowledge me before I finally ordered a couple of samples of paint. Cherry on top is that he rings me up and then proceeds to help other customers while I just stand there waiting for my samples to be made. Another 20 minutes of waiting for him to stop talking to other people and to just freaking give me what I had already paid for half an hour ago. If not for the fact that paint cans aren’t the lightest and that not too many places sell Benjamin Moore paint, I would totally go somewhere else if I could. Too bad almost all the other stores that carry it are probably also affiliated with Janovic… It pisses me off that I’m giving money to these people for such poor customer service. Total time in this store was over an hour just to get some paint samples. By the time I was leaving, the store was closing so my original plan of getting paint samples on the way home from work, painting some swatches, and then picking up paint to start that evening had to be scrapped. Wasted evening. Wasted time. Painting sucks enough as it is, glad I get to have even more fun in the process. *sarcasm*

Janovic is very organized, has a great selection and the people are helpful. Itt’s also very helpful that the have in stock the most popular Benjamin Moore off-white colors. There is one thing that bugs me and that is if you are a contractor or show them a union card, they charge you considerably less for the paint than if you are a regular consumer. This is regardless of the quantity. One time I purchased several hundreds of dollars of paint only to be told by the contractor that they charge him less. This makes the consumer feel bad. If I’m getting this wrong, the manager here can message me and let me know.

The new manager of this store, Gordon, is the WORST. He is rude and unhelpful. The nice people the other 2 people are referring to were let go in the past couple of weeks for some reason. He has given me nothing but attitude on 2 separate occasions. I came in with a quart they made to match the hundreds of dollars worth of paint i bought at the store. It wasn’t close to a match to the original color. He said he didn’t know when i bought it(its on the can and in the computer system) and didn’t know who mixed it so it wasn’t his problem. TERRIBLESERVICE.

A great help with friend service. I could not ask for more from my local hardware store.
