There is so much I love about James Perse. The quality of the material, the wonderful details, the generous, comfy, yet flattering, form-​fitting cuts. Mostly I love the simplicity of it all. Simple, beautiful, understated basics. I first discovered him when I bought one of his t-​shirts on sale at the Barney’s Warhouse Sale. I’ve been hooked ever since. Thank God there’s now a just men’s store (his only one in the country I might add) on Bleecker!
The only thing I don’t like about James Perse is that he seems to be of the (very California) school of designers who think it’s OK to wear sweatpants everywhere. It’s really not. Even if they are the most comfy things ever and they cost $ 75, you cannot wear them with flip-​flops to a nice restaurant, or really any restaurant in my opinion. I don’t care if you’re from LA, put on some damn pants.
