J & M’s Fish & Shrimp

Worse fish. No salt, very fishy tasting not fresh. The fries were the best thing on meal! Unsure if it was whiting, way to big to confirm !

This place is amazing just had the best fish seafood … thumbs up… food was delicious will be going here again… definitely worth a try

This business is closed! Second day in a week I have tried to get some fish. Today someone answered the phone and said the business was closed down.

I really wanted to love this place but I couldn’t. I like to support local restaurants in the neighborhood and saw that this place was relatively new and decided to give it a try.
Delivery
I placed an order (over seamless) at 5:48p with an estimated 60 – 75 min wait. The hour and 15 min passed and I called the restaurant to check up on my order. The man I spoke to over the phone said they were extremely busy but that the delivery man would be there in 5 minutes. I agreed to wait another 5 min because I figured they’re a new restaurant and maybe they didn’t have enough staff on hand or their delivery man just had too many orders that day. Either way, I was reassured the food would arrive in 5 min.
20 minutes later, I called seamless to cancel the order because my food still had not arrived. To give you perspective, I live about 5 – 10 min walking distance from this place. I could’ve went to pick it up had I known it would’ve taken so long but I figured it would’ve arrived sooner for that reason alone. I was clearly wrong. Once I called Seamless, they said they were told it was on the way and would be there in 5 min and that the shop hung up on them directly after. They asked me to wait the 5 min and if it did not arrive to call back and they would cancel it. So I waited. I received 3 emails from Seamless for 3 different «estimated» delivery time changes in the process. It was now 7:30p.
Food
The food finally arrived and the delivery man was very apologetic but never once was I offered a discount, free beverage or any other compensatory item or discount for the delay. I was honestly too hungry at that point to argue. I ordered the fish, shrimp and chips. The food came with two slices of fresh sweet bread and ketchup and tartar sauce. My food was warm which was a pleasant surprise. The fries/​chips were extremely soggy. The shrimp (sweet shrimp, I believe) was over cooked so it was a bit rubbery for me and it lacked some seasoning. The fish was good but also needed an extra bit of salt and/​or seasoning. Overall, the food was not terrible, but was not great either. The wait certainly hadn’t helped and this was after paying $ 23 for food, tip and delivery– highly disappointing.
All in all, I don’t think I would reorder again. If I do, I may try something different or I may just pick it up myself. Lesson learned.

First tried to order from these guys through Grubhub and Grubhub had to call me saying they couldn’t get in touch with them and had to cancel my order. Tried ordering through Unilocal and it went through, but then they called saying I needed to change my order because they didn’t have scallops. After waiting an hour, I called to check on my order and was told it would be here in five minutes and it would be hot. Half an hour later, it gets delivered to me cold. And neither the amount or quality of food was worth the money or the wait. Will not order from here again.

I live in the neighborhood and I found this place by accident, by finding their flyer/​menu at the P.O. of all places.
Stopped by to get food and have had food delivered their service is excellent, their delivery takes about 30 minutes, but when Ive gotten my food it has always been hot and ready to eat.
The food itself is sooo good, I miss fried fish in NYC, I grew up in Brooklyn where its everywhere. The fish, shrimp and scallops are great and they have only Steak Fries ++++. It’s definitely worth a try and your $$$ very good eats and they give you so much it lasts two meals.

Ummm… delicious! Delicious fried seafood that delivers? I’m a very happy camper. The fish is fried properly. Very flavorful and not super greasy. The delivery people are always very nice. One day I will actually have to leave the comfort of my warm apartment and pay J&M a visit
