Spicy, crunchy, savory jerk chicken! They top it with Sweet Baby Ray’s. Get lots of napkins and prepare to make a mess.

I must say The food is amazing very tasty I had the 3 meat jerk chicken lemon pepper brisket & jerk pork combo with the spring mix salad & jerk sauce mmm! I shared it with my wife it melts right in your mouth. One thing I don’t enjoy was waiting on that line it was ridiculously long and The wait cut into my work lunch break that’s my only complaint other then that everything was excellent these days is so hard to find food like this guess this is what you have to go through oh well island spice grill you rock!!’

Below average Jerk Chicken, not worth the hype. If you are in FiDi, checkout Miss Shirleys at intersection of Pearl and Whitehall, her Jerk Chicken is the best in the area.

You have to eat here. This place is my jam!!! Deliciously tender chicken, homemade jerk sauce, on a bed of lettuce. To top it all off they have reggae tunes blasting on the street reminding us all to be happy, friendly and grateful… because every little ting is going to be alright.

Let me start off by saying I love bbq. But I just finished eating the brisket and not only am I extremely disappointed, I also feel like I need to go get a second lunch because I’m still hungry. The brisket was decent, albeit extremely dry. They slathered some sweet baby ray’s on it which I guess was okay but to me, that’s cheating. The brisket should be good with no sauce. They also only gave me one piece! For 13 bucks! Even the most expensive bbq places give you a few pieces for that price. But the rest of the meal was even worse. They just slapped the one slice down on a bed of leaves with no dressing and threw a piece of white bread on the side. What is that? How about some real side dishes? Anyway, please do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. The smoky smell is nice but it’s deceptive.

Very expensive — $ 12 for lunch which consists of a piece of chicken and salad. Granted the piece of chicken is large but a leg and thigh costs all of about $ 1 at the supermarket and you can guarantee they aren’t even paying that. Instead of rice and peas w/plantains, you get a small side salad. Again they go cheap on a pretty inexpensive item. They charge extra for for the corn. Very salty — The seasoning on the outside of the chicken does not taste like jerk. In fact it mainly just tastes like salt. Good jerk should have allspice, nutmeg, and some spice. This was pretty bland jerk. It’s a good thing anyway because the chicken skin was just rubbery and fatty so completely inedible. Spicy Jerk Sauce — this should come as no surprise but I don’t think there is a single habenaro in entire jug of sauce. Habenaros aren’t cheap so I guess it fits inline with rest of the review. Stand in a cloud of smoke — While you wait you’re basically in a cloud of smoke for the entire time. I left after my 5 – 10 min wait smelling like smoke. I think people just think it looks cook since they cook it on a large grill outdoors. There is no way they have had real Jamaicans food before and still rate this place any good. I mean its not 1 star because you can eat the meal but it’s hardly breaking the 2 star mark.

I have walked by this grill for months and always avoided it because of the long line, but now that its getting a bit chilly figured my opportunity to grab a bite outside is soon coming to an end. WOW — I have been missing out. The grilled aromas of brisket and jerk chicken were right on with the delicious tender flavorful meat. Not to mention the traditional island music that they play making you feel like you’ve been transported to the Caribbean. I was indecisive about whether to get the jerk chicken leg/thigh or breast so I had the guy grilling the food make my decision. He then went into the grill pulling out a chicken breast and replied that I never tasted a chicken breast as good as his and if I had, he would give me my money back and proceeded to cut me a sample. He was absolutely correct! It was a succulent piece of chicken infused with incredible smokey flavor. He then cut up the breast and placed it on a bed of lettuce w/hot sauce(that is a little sweet as well) and a slice of bread on the side. This has to be the best street food I have had, cooked to perfection.

Had this yesterday for lunch while at my office downtown. The smell was enticing, but the price extremely off putting. Nevertheless, I still paid $ 10 for one thigh and one drumstick of jerked chicken. Nothing accompanies the chicken, except some lettuce lining the bottom of container. FORWHATYOUGET, THISPRICINGISABSURD. I don’t quite understand how they justify charging $ 10 for a thigh and drumstick. If the chicken was sooo tasty and finger licking good, maybe I could understand… BUTITWASNT. It was basic jerk chicken. Nothing outstanding. Plus it was dark meat at that. I personally prefer white meat and isn’t dark meat super cheap? Definitely not worth $ 10!!! In any way, shape or form! They should quickly consider adding a side with the chicken. Considering that most of the lunch places and trucks around the area include a side or two in their $ 10 price. I won’t be back. No mon!

This is one of the best food trucks I’ve ever had. When I say ‘truck’, I mean a black Escalade pulling around a huge oil drum grill. You can usually find it on on Broad St between Beaver and Pearl. Just follow the smell and look for the long line of people. The food: I’ve had the Brisket and Jerk Chicken. Both were perfect. Smoky, spicy, juicy, and tender. The ample portion of meat is served on a bed of mixed salad greens and corn. The service: They are very polite and friendly. There are a couple people working the line, helping it move quickly, someone on the grill, and a guy standing behind a big wood block with a meat cleaver, chopping away. They’ve been playing Bob Marley every time I’ve been so you get to jam out to that while waiting on what will likely be a long line. I’ll def be going here regularly. And after bringing our food back to the office and having the smell take over our floor, my curious and hungry coworkers will be doing so as well. Other Info: Jerk Chicken($ 10), Jerk Pork($ 12), Brisket($ 12), Combo($ 14) — Ca$h. And they cater. Highly recommended.

I’ve only tried the jerk pork. There were parts that were bordering on dry, but overall, it was ok in terms of doneness. Flavor-wise, it was very smoky — however, it didn’t really have much in the way of jerk. They do ask if you want a sauce(spicy or mild) but I don’t like sauce on my jerk/smoked/bbq meats. My coworker got the«spicy» sauce on the side, which I tried — it was somewhat spicy, but also overly sweet, so I’m glad I didn’t get it. I want to go back and try the jerk chicken and the brisket. They move around a lot and their Twitter account doesn’t update with the location, which would be helpful. Going to give three stars for now, until I’ve given it multiple chances.
