The food at Ichabod’s is consistently fantastic. It cooks well above its weight. An unassuming spot to find high end, perfectly executed comfort food. My wife and I order take-out once a week from here and we have never been disappointed. We are always pleased with how delicious, flavorful and well-conceived ever dish is. As someone who has lived in Manhattan for 40+ years, I have become pretty discerning and picky about my go to dining spots. Very grateful to have such a high end, creative and casual option in Gramercy. Thank you Ichabod’s.

Went there unplanned with my husband. It was a very pleasant surprise! The food and drinks were great. Looking forward to going again.

Ichabod’s was better than I expected. I don’t know why I had low expectations, I guess I thought it was more just bar food, but it was good. My friend and I were going to a show next door at Iriving Plaza and we wanted someplace close by since it’d been raining on and off all day. My friend had been to Ichabod’s before and said it was really good(sorry, friend for still having my doubts!) so I made a reservation, just in case it was crowded, for 6:30. When I got there it was crowded, but not packed. My first thoughts were that it was smaller than I thought it would be, and a lot darker. The waitress sat me while I waited for my friend to show up. They gave me a small happy hour menu with some drinks and a couple of food items. I just got a club soda though, and perused the rest of the menu. There’s a list of small plates and a decent sized list of large plates. My friend and I decided to go with a couple small plates each. more variety that way. I got the mussels, and they were really good! It was in a white wine sauce with andouille sauage, and it was so flavorful! I ate the whole bowl, minus the bread, cause I’m trying to be healthy, but I def could have ate all the bread with the rest of that suace! Then I ordered a side of kale which was their daily vegetable. It was marinated and covered in bread crumbs. might not have been the healthiest, but it was good. My friend got the tuna tartare, which I had a bite of and was really good too. The tuna was really fresh! It was a good sized portion served with some chips. She also got the calamari, which has some spicy peppers that I could smell from the other side of the table. I tried some and it was good, not too oily, and it’s only spicy if you eat the peppers. We passed on dessert since we were pretty full, and we had a concert to catch. Overall this was a pleasant surprise. The food was good, and the service was good too. It looked like there was only one waiter, but I never felt like I couldn’t get his attention. It is close quarters inside though, it wasn’t terrible, but my chair got knocked a few times. That would be my only complaint though. I definitely think this is a good place to keep in mind for the future!

My friend actually discovered this restaurant on her recent trip to NYC and of course after looking at Unilocal, saw that this one was definitely worth a shot. Although the food was pretty run-of-the-mill gastro-pub fare(good, but nothing so spectacular), the deserts are a must. I would come here just for dessert and then head on over to their sister bar around the corner for the rest of the night.

Exceeded all expectations. Looking at the website the place feels like a casual neighborhood spot, where in reality it is far from it. Everything was phenomenal. Chicken liver pâté, tuna tartare, calamari, oysters, Brussel sprouts, short ribs and bolognese — all great. Short ribs were least favorite given sweetness.

Food was pretty good here, but it is quite loud and the space is pretty cramped. Expect to get bumped into if you’re not sitting at one of the booth tables. Food: Beet salad — delicious Burrata — yummmm Mushroom polenta — decent Tuna tartare — very good Salad with scallops and lobster — very good

Ichabod’s is one of those places that is good for any situation for someone in the union square neighborhood. Want a nice sit down meal with your significant other? Ichabod’s has really nice food and drinks for dinner. Want a great cocktail before heading somewhere else? Their old fashioned is killer. I’ve had brunch there before, and the food was great as well. Their dinners have left me always satisfied. This isn’t a transcendent experience type of place, just really good food and drink at a pretty good price. I would recommend Ichabod’s for almost any situation.

So in love with the food here. Been here a couple of times and could honestly say there’s not one think I didn’t like. I’ve the burger here, secret tip, they have an onion jam that doesn’t come on it but if you ask for it, changes the game. Burger is always cooked perfectly. Beet salad– awesome the chef here really knows how to cook, beets were tender but still had some crisp, flavors blended well together. Squash dumplings– so smooth and velvety, just melts in your mouth. I usually only like meat dumplings, I feel like vegetables are evil. But these are to die for. If I was a vegetarian I’d eat these as much as I could. Sundae– best I’ve ever had, pretzels, caramel, toasted marshmallow, it’s perfect. This place is a must try. Very dark inside, romantically lit. Service is on point everyone is friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu.

Ichabod’s is a fantastic restaurant in the middle of Union Square. This has become such a touristy area that it’s difficult to find somewhere good without a wait and with quality food. Ichabod’s has that covered. I made a reservation about 2 hours before arriving at the restaurant — I needed a 5:30 reservation but restaurants in the city are usually empty at that time. I made it «just in case»; good thing I did! This place was pretty packed at 5:30 on a Tuesday. However, they seated us right away, even though we were a little late. Happy hour is until 7(awesome) and there are some wines and cocktails included. We ordered the tuna tartare to start. This was INCREDIBLE. It was more than enough for two people and the chips they served it with were perfectly flavored. I had the Sea Bass Frites(yummmmm) and my friend had the duck, which was apparently very good as well. Our food came out quickly and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended if you are in this are — make a reservation and come hungry.

Amazing food here. It’s a little bit off of the main area of Union Square so it can be easy to miss if you aren’t familiar with the area. It’s not too big but the food makes it worth the visit. They do take reservations so that’s something to consider. There’s a bar that you can also take advantage of. They also serve food at the bar seats which is great. The seating is a little tight. If you have large party I would definitely make reservations. Food is delicious here. The ribs are particularly good.

SO, like I was saying, we’re on this new brunch kick. We went to Ichabods based on the strength of Unilocal reviews and had a pretty good time. Absolutely loved the roast pork sandwich, the fried chicken biscuit, and the Southern Breakfast(can’t go wrong with pork belly and cheese grits– can you tell I’m from the South?). Also the ambiance of the place– slightly dark and cozy but nice light coming from the windows– added to the charm of the place. The breakfast cocktails were also decent if not mind-blowing. If I had one complaint I’d say the service was a little uneven. They totally forgot our homefries which eventually arrived after we were done eating(wonderful by the way) but they did comp them so… All-in-all I’m sure we’ll be back here.

Another delicious dinner at Icahbods. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get the room temp right — it was warm and humid for December outside, so they had the AC on — I froze. I hate eating with my coat on! But the food made up for it. The sweet potato latkes were soooooo delicious. The squash dumplings were yummy as usual. The pâté was excellent, and the cheese plate was tasty. Calamari with arugula was crispy and bright. We can never get dessert here because we keep ordering small plates — it’s hard to stop! I did once have the ice cream sundae, which was delicious — but not this time.

I’ve come here twice, and both times have been really amazing. The service is really great, and the interior has a very rustic and inviting atmosphere. The food is even better though! The first time I came, I got the Crispy Duck Breast. The dish as a whole was very good; the meat paired very well with the rice that was served with it. The duck actually had the texture of pork, but the taste was really good. I really enjoyed it. The second time I came, I got the Lobster Spaghetti(it was a special) which I thought was better than the duck. The dish was super buttery, but I really like that. The lobster was really soft, the pasta itself was cooked well(Al dente), and the bacon added flavor to the entire dish. I also got the Squash Dumplings to start out. They had a very earthy taste from the truffle, and they were pretty great. Both times, I got the Marshmallow Pretzel Sundae. This dessert is absolutely amazing and totally worth the cost($ 8). It’s topped with melted marshmallow, and the sundae itself has vanilla ice cream, salted caramel, and pretzels. The combination is really something. I definitely recommend it! Overall an awesome restaurant to have dinner.

My first time here was Christmas Eve in 2014, and since then, I’ve been dying to go back. When a friend from Korea was visiting, I knew this would be the perfect place to goto. First of all, I actually love the crowded feel of the restaurant, with it’s open-kitchen in the corner, and dim, grungy/vintage lighting. And THANKYOU for taking reservations. It seems like lesser and lesser good restaurants are offering reservations and it’s a shame. The staff was very nice and accommodating, and the food and drinks all came out in perfect timing. Food(for four) Mussels — I can never not get mussels when I see it on a menu. The mussels here are on the smaller side, however, they give you plenty so you don’t have to worry about the portion. The buttery broth they have is one of the best I’ve tasted. It goes so well with the buttery bread that they give you, and don’t hesitate to ask for more bread if you want! You’ll definitely want to eat every last bit of the delicious broth of the mussels. I was trying to figure out what the green in the broth was, and now I realized that it was probably parsley pistou that added that kick to the broth. Delicious. I think I wrote a little too much about mussels here. Now, moving on Squash dumplings — I almost cried the last time I had their squash dumplings here in 2014, and it was just as good this time around as well. We were tempted to order seconds! It’s more like a ravioli than a dumpling, but the squash is so soft and delicate, and the whole thing just melts in your mouth and spreads like butter. Absolutely amazing. Must get. Blistered shishito peppers — This is a side that I think should get more light that it gets. It’s such a simple dish, shishito peppers torched and cooked just to the right amount, but it is so flavorful and delicious. The perfect addition of greens to a meal. Must get as well. Rigatoni Bolognese — This large plate is absolutely delicious, however it is not the BEST rigatoni bolognese I’ve tasted. Regardless, the flavors were all very balanced, and I loved how they didn’t over-do it on the sauce. You know they know their pasta when you finish the plate and there is barely any sauce left on the plate. Crispy duck breast — Surprise of the night! I didn’t order this the last time, so I was quite excited to taste it, and I was very very surprised. The duck was so so so soft and moist, and the sides it came with was also so delicious. My friend who usually doesn’t enjoy duck said she liked it! cocktails: I’ve tried the Half Life, Northern Lights, and Dixie Devil, and they were all very good. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask! They were very helpful in helping us choose our drinks and foods. All in all, perfect in all aspects, from vibe, staff, to the food. I can proudly say that if and when anyone asks me for a restaurant recommendation in NYC, I have been consistently saying Ichabod’s.

Nice little place for brunch. I was really looking for lunch, it was 1:00 on a Saturday. I wasn’t disappointed in our meals or service, they were great. I was looking for your standard lunch fare. No worries! I had the arugula and grapefruit salad. The greens were fresh but just a few pieces of grapefruit. I would have liked at least half a grapefruit, not just 4 slices. The country breakfast though was really perfect! The bacon delicious! The poached eggs done to perfection. I now know why the menu is loaded with brunch items! Give them a try! They are worth it!

Cute little brunch place on Irving with a nice size bar. Wood ceiling décor and brick walls that makes it feel very cabin homey. I had the chicken thigh biscuit and a side of hickory smoked bacon which were dam good. $ 17 endless bloody Mary’s made the mission complete. I can’t wait for my next visit for dinner as the menu looks delicious

Food and service were wonderful! My one regret is that we were to full to order dessert! To start we shared the malt vinegar chips while we had drinks. I shared the hanger steak(perfectly seasoned and cooked) with some double cooked potatoes. The Brussels sprouts were amazing, roasted with bacon, served with a poached egg and spicy mustard. Unreal. My dining companions enjoyed their meals of short ribs with sweet potatoes and burger with shoe string fries. I would totally come back to place. I really enjoyed my meal.

SOOOGOOOD!!! Came here on Halloween night. The place is tiny and very dim. The staff were all very friendly and our waiter was able to provide us some good suggestions, such as the ginger rogers drink for me(I’m not a big drinker, so i wanted something very light) — it was delicious! for the 5 of us we ordered 5 small plates, 4 large(with 2 orders of the duck breast) and 2 desserts. Everything was amazing! Squash dumplings did not disappoint, tuna tartare with home made potato chips was my favorite small plate, fried calamari was amazing, duck breast was perfectly cooked(especially the barley soaked in the duck fat YUM!), the squid ink pasta special was another one of our favorites, the beef, and brussel sprouts… everything was awesome! The only one lacking were the mussels… Dessert, we tried the sundae(OMG, I would go back just to have that alone!) and the apple crisp with home made ice cream(AMAZING!). it was def a lot of food for 4 girls and 1 guy, but we still managed to finish most of it — everything was just too good to be left on the table. Def returning… soon!

Everything was delicious, my favorite was the tuna tartar with house made potato chips! The fish was fresh and the chips were crunchy! Perfect pairing. Steak frites — perfectly cooked medium rare with french fries, melt in your mouth, like something you would get at a fancy french restaurant! Pork ribs — smokey sweet deliciousness, I usually like my ribs with the meat falling off the bone but it was still acceptable. Scallops– This is the epitome of a good scallop, a little bounce off your teeth with a sweet taste of the ocean, mixed with corn and veggies, perfecto! We also had the mussels and beet salad, everything was good. OMG that special sundae with toasted marshmallows, pretzels and caramel sauce!!! It was so good I wanted to order a second one!

A cute corner restaurant in Union Square. Lit candles, dimmed lights, full wine and cocktail menu, amazing food. I highly recommended this restaurant for the food and date night. My boyfriend surprised me here for dinner and drinks. We shared a couple of dishes, all of which are amazing! –Squash dumplings: comes in 6. Amazing, beautiful, indescribable. You must dip their signature bread in the sauce. –Mussels: comes with bacon, corn and potatoes. The broth is quite rich. Do go ahead and soak your bread in that broth too. –Rigatoni: mixed with pork and chili. Like a mouthful of your grandmas best meatloaf. –Steak tartare with fries: I just want to talk about the fries. Covered in herbs and cheese, we could not stop munching on these with the garlic mayo sauce. –Summer bramble cocktail: topped with berries. Mix it up and it’s a yummy fruity cocktail. Highly recommend! The server and hostess are great! Thank you for helping us take pictures, clearing our table every second and making sure we were okay. Can’t wait to come back!
