I picked this doctor after I had routine blood work performed at my general practitioner as part of my annual exam. The GP suggested that I go to an endocrinologist due to my thyroid levels. I found the endocrinologist from my insurance provider’s «find a doctor» website that was with a two mile distance to where I live. My first visit to the office, the waiting area was tiny and packed. Everyone looked miserable as if they had been there forever. I waited 2 hours before I spoke to him. I showed him my blood work results from my general practitioner. He then spent around an hour talking about himself, everything from his children to political issues. I got the immediate impression that his time spent with patients equates to an opportunity for him brag or give unasked advice. He is a stranger to me who I don’t respect other than being an endocrinologist. At times he was asking inappropriate personal questions that had nothing to do with medicine. If you read his other review on here, a woman experienced the same thing as I did. This man is sexist. This doctor has a god complex and thinks that everyone should wait for him and listen to what he has to say. The nurses were prodding him along to speed up, constantly buzzing him as he was in the room with me. He seemed he that he didn’t have a care in the world and continued talking about things unrelated to medicine. He instructed me to go to Quest Diagnostics since they are incapable of taking blood at his ramshackle office space. Then again, I have to go to talk to him about my results. When making the second appointment, the secretary told me to call ahead to see if he is on time to save me time waiting in the office. What professional establishment has a secretary forewarning patients of his severe delays? My appointment was for 1:30 pm. I called at 1 as instructed. She told me he is around an hour and a half behind. I call an hour and half later and she told me to come in. Once I get there, I wait an additional hour before I see him. If you make an appointment here, be prepared to have the entire day open because there is no respect of time at his office. Again I see him, the song and dance of his personal life when I just want to be told about my blood work. He gives me a very low dose of medication because I have hypothyroidism. He gives me enough medication(around a 6 month supply) so I do not have to visit him again(thank god). I was told I would get a reminder of when I would need to come back in to get retested and reevaluated. I call him a month prior to when my medication would be gone(with no reminder from his staff) to be told that he will be on vacation for 3 weeks and there is no way he can give me medication or see me before that. Since I was now pregnant and when pregnant you need your thyroid medication more than ever, I desperately found a doctor through a recommendation of a friend at Weil Cornell. My new doctor needed my paperwork/blood work in order to review my background. In order to get my paperwork to the new doctor, I need to give Dr. Huey my consent, which I immediately did. Dr. Huey is in the dark ages, no email, no scanning of documents or viewing images, no credit card accepted for Health Savings Account users like myself. Whatever the case, my records never made it to my new doctor on time for my appointment and Weil Cornell had to call them and ask them to fax them since they were incapable doing so for me, although they were my records that I gave consent to be released. I STRONGLY advise you to find another doctor. I will now be going to Dr. Hugo who sees patients in Tribeca and Upper East Side. He came highly recommended from another patient that I know. This experience with Dr. Huey is by far the most unprofessional and unsafe medical situation I have been in. I have since miscarried and I’m sure the stress of this situation played some roll in it.

NEVER see this physician. Not only did this physician waste a SIGNIFICANT amount of my time, he also belittled me, mocked me, and took my money without ANYANSWERS. As a college student, it’s hard to afford to see any specialist, but, considering the struggles I’ve had with my medical condition, I thought I would give Dr. Huey a chance. On my first visit, I waited nearly three hours to even see the doctor. When I did see him, he spent nearly an hour talking to me. BUT, he wasn’t talking to me about my health or medical concerns at all, no matter how many times I tried to steer the conversation back to that. All he wanted to talk about was how I chose the wrong college, and how the my major in school was a waste of my time. Nevertheless, he told me that he could help me after I got my blood drawn. So, I did. A week later, his office called me to inform me that he could help, so I scheduled a follow-up appointment. Upon arrival for my second visit, the receptionist told me Dr. Huey was running nearly two hours behind. After finally getting in to see Dr. Huey, he simply told me that he had no idea what was wrong with me or how to help me. When I started to cry out of pure frustration, he told me that my problem was probably that I was simply over-emotional. Overall, Dr. Huey cost me fees for TWO office visits, unneeded and expensive lab work, hours and hours of my time, and an absolutely unacceptable amount of frustration. This man is not a doctor, he just wants your money. Steer clear of his practice.
