We had the distinct displeasure of taking our children to Dr. Zimmerman. While the first visits went fine(relatively speaking), our last few encounters with her office have prompted us to find someone new who values our business. At our last visit, I brought my son to have a few cavities filled. Our appointment was at 4pm. At 4:15 I asked how much longer it would be. I was told that the dentist was in with a patient. At 4:30, my son growing tired of waiting and getting cranky, I against asked how much longer it would be. I was again told, very curtly, the dentist is in with a patient. Now my father was a dentist and it is not like surgery. The dentist can be asked a questions(i.e. how much longer do you think until you get to _____). At 4:45 I said that we were leaving as the dentist was not the only one whose time was valuable. Almost as if magic, the dentist then appeared! I tole her of my displeasure and she said«yeah, I’m running late.» I wonder how she would feel if her assistant left the office for an appointment and returned more than an hour late. I imagine she wouldn’t be too happy. I asked to have our files sent so that we could bring them to a new dentist. I was told that they would mail me the form to sign. I said that I would sign it now. That seemed to be a problem but they allowed me to sign it. One week later I had not received the files and called again. I was told that they hadn’t had the time to mail them. I was very surprised seeing as how it takes about a minute to get an envelope, put the files in, and add postage. Now of course my son has an appointment at another dentist tomorrow. We asked whether we could come and pick up the records and after a great deal of hemming and hawing they said that they think they can have them ready for us. The office staff is horrible, unprofessional and discourteous. There are so many good pediatric dentists in NYC I would highly recommend that you take your hard earned dollars elsewhere!
