There are some comfort issues here. For example, the a/c wasn’t on or wasn’t working well. Also, every time I went to use the bathroom, the doors were locked. I guess it’s possible that someone always beat me to it. Who knows? We stopped here for a quick bite after visiting a local museum. My friends ordered a cup of soup which was actually a bowl and for $ 3 was a bargain. I had a very good tasting burger topped with cheese, bacon, onions, and mushrooms. I think it was called the Hollywood Burger. Part of the reason it tasted so good was that it was on the fatty side, not really a great thing. If I lived in the neighborhood, I guess I would come here from time to time but as only an occasional visitor to the area, I might try to find another place. Unless, I was only having soup, because at $ 3 it was a bargain! I have read other reviewers complain about the service but the young lady who waited on us was terrific.

This place has a lot of potential, but was underwhelming. It seemed cute so I stopped in for a sandwich, was a little surprised by the prices, and was really disappointed by the quality. Would have been happy to pay if it was done well, but it just wasn’t. I don’t eat burgers, so maybe I just got a poorly done alternative, but… still. Expensive and not good. Maybe a smaller menu, with consistent quality?

Just tried asking nicely to use the restroom and they refused to let me use it without«buying something». I said I would never return and their response was«have a good night.» What am I going to do, puke all over the bathroom floor?

Rude, rude, and rude. They are a quick slop shop that could give a damn about local patrons. Walking in tonight was my last straw. Being nearby we’ve ordered for over a year. They have unhappy staff who just don’t care.

Wednesday night, March 9. I generally like the Hollywood diner and I normally get the bacon cheese burger there which is terrific. Tonight I ordered lasagna with a Greek salad. The salad was good but everything was cut so irregularly that The greens, the onions did not fit into my mouth. I know this is not Daniel — it’s a diner but the salad maker should be able to cut up the parts of the salad so it can easily be held by the fork and get into my mouth. The salad was ample and the lasagna, meat lasagna, was exceptionally large, and that was welcome, but the lasagna did not taste like lasagna. The ground beef seemed to be the ground beef with spinach in it which was originally meant for some other Greek dish.

I was hoping that with the renovation, there would also be improvements with the food. Not the case. If you must go here, stick to the most simple items on the menu, like a grilled cheese. I got a burger here once and it tasted like a frozen patty that you would buy in a supermarket. The cheese on the French Onion soup was processed, again, something you’d buy on the cheap at a supermarket. And it’s expensive. If you’re in the area, walk a couple blocks north to Ridgeway diner(though this diner is not open late) or south to Good Stuff. This used to be convenient for us because it was close to Dance Manhattan, but after being burned a few times and giving them another chance, we eventually started walking to Good Stuff or hopping in a car and finding something better. I think the only reason this place can survive with such poor quality is that there are a lot of tourists in the area shopping, and they don’t know any better.

Not a bad diner. It had been quite a few years since I had last gone, but stopped by yesterday and could not believe how crowded it was for a diner. I was seated quickly and served within a good amount of time considering how packed the place was. I will say that the prices were slightly high for a diner and the portions served were not consistent with the prices. Still, the quality of the food was above average. At one time, this was a place I frequented for breakfast. While I did not mind having lunch here, I think that breakfast is what will continue to go for– far better prices and an overall better diner experience.

I recently had brunch here, and I don’t think I will again. I elected to dine alone and I was immediately sat at a two top table. So far, so good. An actual«server» didn’t come over to me and offer a beverage… a very kind BUSSER did. I thought he was my server until I noticed a difference in the colors of shirts! The busser was able to ask me TWICE about my order before a server showed up. The only reason the server asked me anything is because I made eye contact and was ready to order. I felt rushed ordering my food almost like there was a slight issue that I was ordering through her… and there was. It was not HER table as I learned hearing her and another server argue directly over me.UNPROFESSIONAL. But at least finally my order was in. The food is finally delivered and I felt like I was burdening the servers by asking for condiments! I’m not sure what was going on that day with the staff, but I was annoyed enough to know I would NEVER return. To experience servers arguing over who’s table is who’s and making the guest feel like a burden??? No honey. I will take my money elsewhere. I paid my bill swiftly… and…gave the TIP to the very kind BUSSER. Promote him why dont you! But I doubt I will visit again. Smh…

I have never received better delivery service from any restaurant in NYC… and I’ve been living and ordering in Manhattan for too many years. I don’t even live close to this restaurant — I was shocked when GrubHub had them listed as within my delivery range(I’m a little less than a mile). Needless to say, I got a time estimate of 30 – 45 minutes… and then came in 20 – 25. I was shocked. I wasn’t expecting them so early that I felt bad making the delivery guy wait a few minutes for me to come downstairs and get my food since I hadn’t gotten my shoes on yet! Admittedly this did take place on a Monday morning, but it was during the Christmas-New Years’ week when more people are probably at home on a Monday morning than usual.

GREATDESSERTSHERE! Hollywood Diner always offers the BEST Homemade Cakes, Pies and Puddings. Other than that, stick to any of their Breakfast items, Tuna Sandwich or Grilled Cheese Sandwiches(great with Swiss) with French Fries or Onion Wings. If you stick to these items you won’t go wrong… fast delivery every time but it ain’t Home Cooking!

This place really bums me out. It has a great location, super close to where I live. The décor is cheap but quite nice, certainly nice enough for a diner. I want to like it, I really do. But the food is seriously terrible, even by diner standards. Even something as easy as toast was served burnt and cold, pretty impressive to do both. Really just low quality all around. Nothing fresh squeezed. I have been roughly 3 times, each time hoping that I had ordered wrongly before because I really want this place to be good(because of the location). I won’t be going back.
