Food is fine. Love the fried chicken. But someone has an attitude issue. I hope I will not see her again next time I stop by.

Hive Thai’s business seems to be mostly from take-out, although they do have several tables if you do want to dine in. The only thing I really ever order from them are the chicken wings, pad see ewe and massaman curry which are all excellent. Everything else I’ve tried weren’t really worth ordering again. Good go-to spot for take-out and speedy deliveries.

If I were able to give MINUS five stars, I would! This place is the worst. Never stepping food in here again. How does this place have an «A» as a rating?! Impossible. My experience was beyond nauseating!

Terrible customer service. I told them my chicken wasn’t cooked all the way and they told me they wouldn’t give me a new one

Their service has transitioned to fast food, but their prices haven’t. This place ALWAYS tries to nickel and dime you. I never feel like I get what I pay for there. Their portions are small. Their staff is intractable when it comes to order problems. Frankly, there are better quality Thai places on Austin St. for comparable prices. If you find yourself on Yellowstone, and you want an AMAZING meal with AMAZING service, go across the street to Aaheli( ). It is an indian restaurant, so the cuisine is obviously different, but I have never encountered a friendlier staff with such a well run, clean restaurant. The contrast between them and HIVE and is too notable to ignore for me, as a neighborhood resident.

This is a low quality Thai take out selling fried chicken wings. We order pad Thai and papaya salad and tom yum soup to eat there. The lady there was not friendly. We took a seat and they brought out the food with plastic to-go containers. The whole jar of sugar must fell into that pad Thai noodles. A little bit of shredded papaya and lots of iceberg lettuce under and throw some green beans and they called it papaya salad. They didn’t even bother to smash the peanut, they just throw them in whole. The taste was not there. Tom yum soup had tons of big giant onion pieces. These people didn’t know how to cook. We wasted 22 $ for 3 items that tasted like garbage. I can order a pizza from Lillian a couple blocks away which taste 100 times better and cheaper. If you are looking for real Thai food experience, don’t ever go to this place. There are so many good Thai Resturant in Elmhurst with 4 stars rating.

The general rule of thumb to eat in Queens has always been cheaper price and larger portion compared to the city… all other boros applied as well. It has also been well-established that Jackson Heights is the capital of authentic Thai cuisine. So to find a Thai restaurant in Forest Hills is definitely a rare sighting. First impression of Hive Thai’s interior décor and setup reminded me of Chinese take-out joints… Once I got through looking over the menu and concluded this was in fact a real Thai cuisine and not an imitation, I ordered Kee Mau, aka, Drunken Noodle, just to be on the safe side. As it turned out, the food was very tasty! However, the portion was ridiculously small… at least 25−33% less and priced similar to the city. Since when Forest Hills has become the new Manhattan? I felt cheated!

One of the best Thai places I’ve ever been to. Awesome food.

Great place. Quick delivery. I always order the Pad See Ew with chicken, basil fried rice with chicken and chicken Massaman curry. My mother swears she hates curry, and yet whenever I order from here she always goes for a second helping. I’ve had the tofu pad Thai but didn’t love it. Doesn’t mean I won’t try it again. As for appetizers, Hoy Jor Todd is good. So are the spring rolls

Kid and hubby out at hockey game and I wanted Thai. After reading some reviews, decided to give Hive a try; well worth it! Pad Thai with tofu is yummy, not gloopy or greasy. Very fresh! The chive pancake and dipping sauce… SOGOOD! And definitely enough for two! Thai iced tea, passed the test as well. Big plus is that NOT A SINGLE drop of iced tea or dipping sauce was spilled en-route! They taped up the straw hole in the cover on the iced tea; genius. Will be ordering again, praying that they are consistent.

The Thai chicken wings are amazing! I have never been disappointed. I have had many friends and family come from out of state or other boroughs and have tried this place and all loved it. It’s not a restaurant, you can eat there but it’s meant as a quick bite to eat but with nicer items than fast food. I highly recommend it.

A scientific analysis of the food yields a four-star rating, but I’m really glad to get cuisine of this caliber within the fast-food/take-out paradigm. The papaya salad is decent. Spice mavens may find similar and more interesting offerings in Elmhurst. However, the red curry is a knockout, earning the rare Josh B. «No Meat Necessary» seal of approval. It hits you with the spices and then tantalizes with the sweet side. There’s coconut milk in here but also some secret sauce.

I love the Pad Thai and the Fried Chicken & Fries combo($ 4.95). Those two things are the reason I keep going back! I always pick up my food and they are very quick with making the food. Just a little disappointed that they switched from straight to crinkle cut fries. I usually order via GrubHub because I can just pay through PayPal and it’s super convenient.

The absolute best Thai food I’ve ever had in New York State. We tried both the Pad Thai with Shrimp, and the fried rice with chicken and were surprised at the quality and authenticity. The staff is friendly and courteous. There’s a clean bathroom at the back for customers. No high chairs for toddlers so bring your own booster seat if you have one. Still, I must give this place 5 stars for the food.

Some of the worst Thai food I have ever had. As I was a new customer, I decided to ease in with a classic: pad Thai. It was barely edible. The prawns were questionably rubber and had no taste. I basically had to force the rest of he meal down just to get some sustenance(it was super hot out and I wasn’t turning on the stove). My wife agreed that her meal was crap as well; hopefully not literally. Pass.

Quick review. Had a few to go orders here and they were very, very good. This is on Yellowstone Blvd, not the heart of Forest Hills, but worth the trip. About a mile or so from Continental and Austin. Super friendly service with a winning smile from a cutie named Kai. Great smile and very service oriented. I stuck with Chicken Pad Thai, which was well cooked and an enormous portion. Almost could be spilt with a partner. Had the Fried Rice once with Chicken, which came with pineapple, which was a nice Thai touch. Prices are very good, and once you place your order, it takes about 10 or so minutes to prepare fresh. Pop by and say hi to Kai. Pad Thai is not too bad either.

I ordered a delivery from this place for lunch. I was alone at home and I just wanted to order Thai Lee Mao noodles with vegetables and Tofu served with a can of soda. Since their minimum delivery order was of 15 $, so the girl who took my order over the phone kept on adding items on my menu in which I had not intended like vegetable rolls and Thai Ice tea. But that’s not all! When the bill reached 14.69 $ she asked me to add one more item to it and that was it. At this point, I was on the verge of cancelling my order. Until she finally agreed to deliver at the existing bill. The food arrived in time and was good. I would like to order again but I feel that their minimum order for delivery should be reduced to 10 $ instead of 15 $. Especially when u stay close by the joint.

Didn’t realize this was a fast food place now. There are still a few tables to sit, so we decided to eat there. But it was very cold inside and not too comfortable. We started our meal with the chive pancakes($ 5 – 4pcs), which were not thin circles, but thick triangles that were crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside. The accompanying sauce was sweet and salty. We also had vegetable spring rolls($ 4 – 4pcs) which came with a thin sweet dipping sauce. I also had a thai iced tea($ 3), which was extremely sweet, almost cloyingly so. I wish I’d have known about this so I could ask them to use about half the sugar. For an entrée, I had the shrimp Pad Thai($ 11) and was surprised by a couple of things – first, that it was served in a small round chinese takeout type container and not a bowl – second, that it was very sweet and did not come with any chili sauce on the side nor crushed peanuts on top – and finally, that the shrimp tails were left on the shrimp. I’ve had Pad Thai from many restaurants, but this was the first time I’ve encountered this – and I was disappointed. After a so-so meal, served on plastic fast food trays, with unwrapped plastic forks, we decided to go somewhere a bit nicer for dessert.

Hive Thai is a little off the beaten path that is known as Austin St. It doesn’t pick up all the foot traffic, which can sometimes be a good thing since it also doesn’t commandeer higher prices. So I was surprised to see a Thai restaurant serving lunch specials with a free can of soda on the weekend!!! I’ve been to almost every Thai restaurant in Elmhurst and not one has lunch specials on weekends anymore. So to my excitement, I put in a pickup order. When I got there, in the alotted 10 – 15 minutes I was advised to come pick up the food by, my food was ready in bag and good to go. The establishment is a bit weird, almost reminding me of a elementary school cafeteria. There are a few tables in the front, but behind the cashier counter is the kitchen/prep area which appears amazingly huge and almost a waste of space since there is so much open area. Two younger girls were watching TV or doing homework of some sort. They could definitely put the space to more use. For the lunch specials, we got: — Pad See Ew with Chicken($ 7.50) — Ingredients were standard: wide flat noodles, egg and Chinese broccoli sauteed with light garlic and black soy sauce. The noodles were tender and ever so slightly slippery yet far from greasy, chicken was bordering overcooked but still tender and tasty. It was not bold on the different layers of pronounced flavors that I would come to expect with Thai food, but each subtle flavor of sweetness, saltiness, bitterness was still there. Instead, the dish just felt a lot homier, something I would expect someone’s parents to make: healthy and tasty without being overdosed with seasonings. — Pad Kee Mao with Chicken($ 7.50) — The ingredients were also standard: wide flat rice noodles, onions, scallions, fresh chili and basil leaves sauteed with chili garlic sauce. The dish was very similar to the Pad See Ew consistency-wise, noodles were soft and separated easily without being greasy, chicken bordering overcooked but still tender. Subtle flavors similar to the Pad See Ew, but with an added hint of spiciness. Nothing overbearing for the casual spice eater, however barely noticeable for those seeking authentic Thai spices. The portions of both lunch specials are served in smaller than normal round plastic containers. At first I felt ripped off, but as you eat, you’ll notice the noodles and protein are plentiful and stuffed to the max. It’s definitely a good value considering each order also gets a free can of soda or bottle of water, and prices are a lot lower as compared to other Thai restaurants serving the same dish at $ 10 or higher. The flavor complexity can definitely be emphasized, however I’m willing to overlook that for what feels like a local mom and pops Thai establishment.

Thai restaurants tend to be pricey and modern, so I wanted to give this self-described«authentic Thai» take out place a shot. For an appetizer, we ordered chive pancakes($ 5). They were heavy, crispy and thick, snacky triangles. The brown dipping sauce was slightly sweet. Perfect for two people. Peanut Red Curry with rice was good and very spicy. Your choices of protein are chicken, vegetables & tofu, shrimp, or squid.(It’s very weird that there’s NOBEEF anywhere on the menu.) It’s not a large amount of food at $ 10-$ 11 per entrée. I think the Pad Thai was a better deal in terms of size, and that was slightly cheaper and also very good. Teow Thai noodle soup($ 9) was extremely bland. But I expected it to be bland cause it’s a clear broth dish and everything else we ordered was flavorful. Their fish balls were super springy though! Thai Iced Tea($ 3.50) was great. They do use a lot of sugar. I’d ask them to use half the sugar next time. Overall, the food quality is excellent. I don’t know if the workers were Thai, but they definitely weren’t speaking Mandarin or Cantonese. And the place accepts credit card(minimum $ 10).
