I came here to charge my iPhone that ran out of batteries, and I gladly purchased a midday smoothie and enjoyed what I got: a Tropic Thunder smoothie with coconut water, blueberries, pineapple, and bananas. It had the perfect consistency and taste: thick without being difficult to drink through a straw; tart, yet sweet. The staff worker who made it for me, Matt, was relaxed and friendly. He mentioned that I could come to the market to charge my phone if necessary, without buying anything– I’m thankful he mentioned this in such a welcoming way, and we had a fun conversation about the NBA and the New York Knicks. I definitely want to visit this market again in the area, if not to grab another smoothie, then to buy some of the products inside the market.

I was impressed by this store. It had everything I was looking for and good prices. The staff was helpful, the store has a great bulk selection, great skin products and most important reasonable prices.

I came in after passing it on the way to the 2nd Avenue subway station home. I initially came in here to look for hummus which they had. I noticed they sold pasta. When I went to the cashier I asked if they had gluten-free pasta available. The other employee escorted me to the correct section and asked me which shape of pasta I wanted. I let him know I was asking for my mother and was curious if they had it available. I went back to the cashier and paid for my hummus.

I feel ripped off! I got 2 green apples and 1 cucumber and it came out to be like $ 9. That is just outrageous to me.

Pretty friendly staff and a varied selection of grocery items here. It is pricey though, like most organic health food stores. –Vegetarian Meatless Chicken Tuscan Spread($ 3.99): Sold in the refrigerated section. Satisfying, but not something I’d want to eat everyday. The soft flaxseed wrap complemented the crisp cabbage inside nicely. Best when eaten cold. –Brad’s Raw Crunch Kale chips(2.5 oz), Naked flavor($ 5.99): VERY flavorful. I really liked this! Some other items they carry: Fage Total Greek Yogurt($ 4.89), Back To Nature nut mixes($ 6-$ 8.50), vegan beef jerky($ 1.50), Amy’s frozen entrees($ 4-$ 5), Arctic Zero ice cream pints($ 5), Vegan Macaroons($ 4.99, in the refrigerated section), individual almond butter chocolate cups($ 1.99). From the juice bar: –Mixed Greens juice, 10 oz($ 5.99): Blech. I had forgotten how much I dislike carrot juice when I ordered this. I took 3 sips and threw it out.

$ 10 credit on PayPal to use on smoothies, juices, and organic products. The store smells like a Whole Foods! Employees are very nice here. With the $ 10 credit, the BF got a berry smoothie and got me a chocolate bar(blueberry and lavender). Love the wide variety of stuff they have here. The smoothie was quite large for the price and was a little more yogurt-y than fruity. Since I still have $ 10, I’m definitely stopping by again to look around more and will update when I do so :) Prices here are competitive to chains like Whole Foods. PS: Just wanted to add an updated review to let everyone know to check the expiration dates of the items from here. Because it is a smaller market and traffic is slower here than in say, your Trader Joe’s or Fairway. The bottle of blueberry juice we picked up was expired — luckily we noticed before we paid.

Hubby and I were brought in here by the PayPal offers. Lots of healthy food and merchandise options in a small, family run store. Pleasant staff.

I came here because I had a pay pal offer. It’s a small market and at the time I needed groceries more than anything so I didn’t even bother waisting the offer on the juice bar. The staff are very helpful & friendly. However, I am really big on saving and getting the best deals when it comes to grocery shopping so I usually pick trader joes over whole foods(just to give you an idea) but this place is very expensive I spent about 20 dollars on items that I would spend 10 bucks on at Trader Joes. I know the produce and groceries in here are organic and organic is a bit more pricey but they definitely over do it! Doubt I’ll be returning

***PayPal users ensure they are using the Market terminal) rather than the Juice Bar one) to use the offer Though I didn’t scour every shelf with a comparative spreadsheet, I found the prices at Healthfully to be far less offensive than its counterparts, even if the cashier didn’t seem to like a single thing about me for no apparent reason. I skipped(i.e., didn’t really look for) Food for Life Black Rice Tortillas mentioned in the Times, and went instead with 2 fridge-bound items: a sandwich and some noodles, both of which I’d consider delicious if I was a dedicated V, but didn’t find too terrible regardless. Skipped their Unilocal checkin deal for $ 5 off $ 60 checkin deal(or $ 10 off $ 100) and checked out painlessly with PayPal(there’s a separate Juice Bar listing for the adjacent counter, both of which share the same $ 10 credit). Also appreciated that their URL listed routes here — smooth move just paying for the domain redirect, folks. I don’t know what I would do without my neighborhood health-food store. This place has every vitamin and mineral that you could ever need. The staff is pretty knowledgeable to help you get started with your fitness goals, and there’s a great, small selection of super-foods to help you get through the day.(This is the best place to grab a drink made out of apple cider vinegar or a protein bar post workout. — One recommendation to the staff? Help the cashiers! The service can be slow to leave.

Store is awesome for all your organic needs, reasonably priced and comparable to whole foods for certain items. A place you could easily miss.

What a delightful small business in the East Village. No it doesn’t compare to Commodities, but this grocery has a nice selection of raw protein, vitamins, grocery items, high end natural skin care products(Weleda, Dr. Hauschka), freezer and fresh organic produce. There is even a juice bar! I was looking for some organic cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and kale chips to nosh. I wasn’t disappointed! If I’m in the neighbourhood, I’ll be stopping by for some supplies…

Such a great place! Cheap compared to wholefoods and other health food places. The people that work there are always really nice and they have such a great assortment of stuff! I’ve been eating vegan raw for the past couple of months and this place has been a lifesaver! LOVEIT!

Since I was 13, I’ve gone from vegetarian to vegan to pescatarian to what I like to call«flexitarian.» If I’m alone, I’m a tofu princess – I don’t keep meat or fish in the house because I have a big boy kitty who attacks that stuff and will literally fight me for it. When I’m out, I’m very«do as the Romans do» and am happy to help myself to your plate o’beef. For groceries, though, I keep it real. Real hippie, that is, provided I’ve got the cash on hand to do it. Enter Healthfully. I’ve lived in the area for over a decade and have only recently discovered this treasure of a store. Because I’m an abysmal cook, frozen and pre-made items are a staple(Don’t judge me, folks. You probably order delivery once a week. I do that maybe once every 6 weeks. We all have our vices.). The frozen section here isn’t a jackpot, but the pre-made section has great pitas with fake meat, as well as stuff from Brooklyn’s delicious vegan joint V-Spot. And hummus? They’ve got your hummus right there, in a billion varieties and brands. Healthfully’s canned and perishables are well-selected and completely non-offensively priced. Compared to Commodities or Whole Foods, Healthfully is a bargain. I’m also in agreement with the relieved Unilocalers who enjoy the spacious store layout. It’s so nice to feel as if I’m not sitting in some neighbor’s kid’s stroller as I bend down to look at trail mix. The supplements and beauty products stocked here are also reasonably priced, and the owner and his staff know exactly what’s in their store. I get a good vibe when I come here, along with healthy(yet tasty) food, and I don’t leave broke, so everybody wins. Except, of course, my big bad boy kitty cat, but he’ll survive.

Something about this place puts a smile on my face. It could be the good prices, bulk bins, unique items, and selection– to-space-ratio… Or, it could be the conversations I undoubtedly overhear amongst the staff every time I venture in here. Heh…yup. That is it –because I know it is not the produce.

Healthfully is a really good store to have in the neighborhood; as I mentioned in another review, I refuse to go to WholeMart.(Besides, this place is closer.) They have a great selection of vegan foods and supplements, and outstanding prices on their nut butters.(A couple of years ago I stockpiled the Artisana Coconut butter because they had the best price around; well, I still have a few jars left and they still have the best price around.) They seem to get most of their produce from Albert’s Organics(I can tell; I was general manager of the food co-op a couple of blocks away for two years,) which isn’t a total deal-breaker, but this isn’t my first stop for produce. They’re pretty responsive when I ask if they can order something; if their distributor carries it, they’ll tack it on the next order.(I’m happy to see they place such a high priority on the needs and wants of their quirky, neurotic customers!) I was there today and didn’t see V-bites – which naturally was the reason I went there in the first place – but I’ll check next time I go. [ETA: I went in and got two varieties of V-bites cheese today – which is really the Cheezly I used to have to mail-order. Great stuff – I’m a happy camper. Awesome nachos.] It’s really good to be able to count on this place.

Have since been back. Saw they have v-bites(the new cheezly) and I wanted to buy some, but the cherries looked better. Bulk deals are no joke and I love the juice bar now(should have come here first) The store is usually quiet when I come around so I can wander in peace. Staff smiles now. Good stuff. :p +1 for staff smiling …haha no. +1 for wide aisles, for once I was in a health food store that didn’t make me feel claustrophobic and under surveillance. good place for raw/vegan peeps :)

I’ve been on a vegan/raw foods kick lately and decided to check this place out. They had a ton of products that I’d never seen before. Many raw products(chocolate, crackers, nut and seed bars, etc). They have a big section of supplements and also a big juice bar. When I visited, the store was completely dead which made it easy to browse around. However, I kind of felt like the employees were watching me, ready to help me at any cost. I hate that. But they did suggest some products to me and were very nice. They also have a lot of dried fruit and nuts.

Healthfully is one of my favorite health, organic food stores(yes, even over the gigantic Whole Foods down the street on Bowery): — they stock all my favorite essentials: organic peanut butter, young thai coconuts, organic vegetables and fruits, vitamins and supplements — fully stocked organic juice/smoothie bar — knowledgeable staff(come in with a question and they give you straightforward advice without the upsell) Overall, a great place to get your grocery/supplement essentials… no long lines, no obnoxious hipsters… just shop and go!
