Nice vegetarian sandwich with a good roll and a nice compote of vegetables. Very good service and pleasant personnel.

My second time coming here for lunch. Warning if you come sit downstairs the waitress is much better on the 1st floor. The second floor waitresses took forever to take our order. And their attitude is not the best. I hope the buss-boy gets some of the tips because he’s the one doing most of the work.

Came here with a friend for an open mic we had read about. We only came for a drink, but ended up staying for multiple rounds and had dinner. We had a BLAST! Polly was so welcoming and funny. She even got my friend up to sing(she hasn’t sung in years!) Really, really great night. The food was wonderful as well, not your typical pub food. I’ll be back for sure!

This is a great place to come by and grab a drink after work with some coworkers and/or friends. There’s two floors; however, I came here around 6pm on a Friday and it was packed. Thank goodness my friends came a little earlier and got a table. The second floor has a big window opening where you can stand, drink, chill, chit chat, and get fresh out from the outside. Pretty awesome. The drinks are decent priced, especially during happy hour. An apple martini is $ 7 and sangria is $ 10. It’s really not bad. The drinks are really good. I will be back for their apple martini. They have a good amount of selection of beers ranging from $ 8 – 10. The food is a bit pricey, but the nachos were really good! It is a big portion and can definitely be shared amount four-five people. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try. I’ll be back for happy hour again some time in the future!

Great! I came here with a group of friends at around 6pm and it was busyy. My friend managed to grab a table before it got crowded but I can see how it’s tough to find somewhere to sit. The service is friendly but sometimes you have to really try to flag them down which is sort of a pain. They have a mid-size selection of beer and you’ll most likely find what you’re looking for. Food isn’t cheap tho. Beers here are around $ 8 – 10 but food is around $ 15. A decent place to hang out. Cheers.

Poor service and food was sub par. The bartender had the audacity to complain with unprofessional choice words about our minimum tip. He failed to realize it took over five minutes in a half empty bar to order drinks, and service on the food was non existent. I would not recommend this place again to friends and even enemies.

Friendly, family-type owner vibe here. We just came to watch a friend’s son performing in a jazz show. Place was packed with his friends and relatives. Ended up getting the Happy Hour oyster and a pint deal — and this was just about right. Less notably, this is where I tried my first Guinness«Nitro» «IPA» — which tastes more like watered down Guinness stout. Stay away from the beer, but do give this bar a try.

Nice bar/restaurant close to Grand central. I ordered the crab burger and was really pleased with my choice. The bartender was off his rockers that night. Kept forgetting what we ordered and looked like he was on something.

Great place to swing by and grab a drink or even something to eat. Stays open late, which is great especially when your visiting the city.

I had lunch here last weekend after walking by this place many times. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and the mimosas were excellent! I had the adult grilled cheese which was very good. It came on challah bread and had a generous portion of several types of cheese plus tomatoes. It came with their house fries, which were also good. The bar is nicely decorated, more so than you would expect from a pub. There’s an upstairs area that I didn’t check out(it had annoying children on it for some reason, but that’s not Harp’s fault) so there’s a ton of space. I would come back for happy hour and snacks if I’m around Grand Central.

Ok, I’m giving the whole five stars. Brian, the bartender is a God among men. In my last review I complained that we dropped big money but didn’t get a buyback. This time… we dropped less and Brian introduced us to Root Beer… With alcohol! Packaged in the bottle that way! Wow! Never saw this before… even the Japanese who don’t like Root Beer… liked this. And it was more fun to drink than… well… I can’t say, this is a family site. All my other comments about the great food, nice beer selection and super friendly staff, still hold, of course. So Drink Club gives Harp its ONEOFTHEBESTBARSINNEWYORK stamp of approval. I wish we could afford a plaque. –Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers, a different bar every week

I almost don’t want to review this, because it hasn’t been too crowded when I’ve gone. Teresa(the work BFF) and I wanted to sit outside but we also wanted to be waited on. We figured we would walk to 45th and 3rd where there are all those bars with outside places. After reading all of the menus, which all lacked veggie burgers btw, we decided on harp. We sat in the second floor rooftop/open area and it was just lovely. Lovely is the only word to describe how truly lovely it was. It was so hard deciding between grilled cheese and truffle oil mac and cheese – but given the weather, I went with grilled cheese and it was delicious and those fries were on point. I went back again, with a different friend, three days later. Naturally.

Good food and fun entertainment. Shepherds pie was good size portion and good. Cheesecake was good. They have a nice area upstairs where windows open wide and fun Irish music jam.

A friend and I grabbed a drink here after work one evening and it was a fine place. Décor: Your typical bar inside, but they do have a rooftop/open-air second floor which is really solid on nice days. Staff: n/a — my buddy got the drinks from the bar, but the bartender seemed nice when he got his tab. Drinks: They have a good beer selection and all the essentials. A solid selection. Value: About what you’d expect to pay. A fine place that, if I were in the area again, I’d come back.

1) I got food poisoning from the oyster frenzy happy hour, so I don’t recommend that at all. Service needs some serious polishing. I work a couple blocks away and finally on a Saturday thought I wanted to sit on the rooftop and eat and drink. So I come in. ask if the rooftop is open. The bartender, a irish lady, says yes but you have to order drinks here and take them up, there is no service upstairs… mind you this is a Saturday at like 2pm. Weird right? I tell her I also want food and she says someone will bring it upstairs if I order with her down stairs. Now lets go over this again. I have to carry my own drinks, bring them upstairs, but if I want food. someone will bring it to me? does that make sense at all? Anyway I order food and 2 beers with water(I’m not coming back down for another beer, this is NY, not the midwest) So I carry the beers and the water to the front door where the stairs lead to the rooftop and there is a sign that says CLOSEDFORPRIVATEPARTY. So I have to go back through the door, carrying 3 drinks. to return to the bar at the bottom floor. I spilled little on myself and the floor, and the bartender looks at me with this PISSEDOFF look like I’m ruining this floor(yea right). I tell her it says CLOSED. She goes. OH I didn’t see you go that way. there is another way, in the back there are stairs. Oh great. good to know now. So I go back the back way, beer on me. And make it upstairs and no body is there. and I have beers and chill and watch hockey. Then the busser brings my food to me, and he is super nice and asks me if I want anything else? I ask him if I can get another beer, he said yes. I said take your time cause I was in no rush. I got the clams appetizer in broth and the catfish poboy. The clams were so good. the sandwich little on the salty side but not too bad. The busser came back with my beer and I tipped him instantly because I was surprised there was SERVICEATTHETOPOFTHEROOFTOP! Unlike what I said. Then the busser came back with a beer on the house, which was very nice. The bartender made sure I knew that when I left, cashed out with my credit card on the bottom floor. I tipped her appropriately too. Its an ok place. Confusing a bit, I though I would return if I wanted to have a beer or so on the rooftop.

A classier happy hour joint than the dumps and dives that proliferate along 2nd ave. If you’re over the age of 25 and organizing a happy hour for your company, come here. The floors are clean, the lighting is better and the food is better too(there’s even a bucket/wings special). If you’re over 25 and don’t feel the need to come here or can’t afford to, then get a new job and grow the fuck up.

When I walk by Harp on weekday evenings, the place always seems full with the after work crowd. However, stop by on Saturday early in the afternoon and it’s close to empty. This midtown Irish pub was recently renovated and now looks like it’s upscale surroundings on 3rd ave. There are quite a few good beers on tap, ranging from American standards, Irish standards and some local craft beers. The food, at a glance, is standard pub fare. However, it’s well executed standard pub fare. The fish for either the cod sandwich or the fish and chips is cooked perfectly and had a medium weight batter which comes to the table extremely crispy. The ‘adult’ grilled cheese is delicious — especially the butter and cheese laden bread. In addition, they have a reasonable array of raw bar items and all day happy hour selections. Worth stopping in.

Love this place but don’t know what to make of it. I’ve been here for drinks several times and late at night the crowd gets a bit sketchy. In fact I’ve seen a few fights break out. But all in all, it’s a great spot for drinks and you can people watch from the bar. Also, drink prices are very reasonable.
