I’ve been to Harlow in the past and decided to bring my boyfriend here on a Friday for restaurant week. Hint: the participation of restaurant week is too captivate and gain new customers… With that being said, we were seated quickly as there were many tables available and the main dining room was closed. We sat down and started talking about this and that, we looked at the menu and decided what we wanted. Time goes by and I look at my watch. We had been sitting for 10 minutes and no waiter had even arrived yet! My bf eventually got up to grab us drinks from the bar, but he did not return with them. He was told that our waiter would bring them right away. Right away did not happen. We waited another 5 minutes until the drinks finally arrived. The Buxton’s Coupe is delicious. Refreshing and a tad sweet. So we finally placed our orders. I ordered the hamachi and my bf ordered the fish tacos. Both were fantastic. My bf just recently started eating fish and loved his fish tacos. My hamachi was delicious with a incredible sauce to accompany it. Both portions could have been a little bigger. Dinner arrives. My entrée was the Bronzino and his was the steak with Brussel sprouts. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted Brussel sprouts more delicious! I could have eaten those all day. Thanks to my bf for sharing them with me :-) my Bronzino was fantastic. The greens that came with it were like no other I ever had. Underneath was a little red sauce of some kind. Another wonderful flavor to the dish. As for dessert we decided to skip it. It took forever and a year for our bill to arrive. During our time dining there they started closing down. They turned the lights off in the main dining room and on top of that turned off the music. Yes, the music! Really? I felt like I was at a bar that was trying to get people out asap. It honestly killed the mood of wanting to go back there. And not to mention they only had ONE waiter that night with one or two food runners. The waiter could have cared less if we were there or not. Whoever owns this place needs to go on Undercover Boss and do some damage control immediately. I can’t see this place possibly being open in the future if waitstaff is of subpar quality on a daily basis. I will most likely pass on the next chance to dine here. Great food but that is all.

Not too packed, but it was perfect for us. My girlfriends and I went for restaurant week and I have to say the scallops were the best! The truffle croquettes were delicious and they have a great wine selection. Will definitely return!

Was taken here by a few of my friends for my birthday dinner. This place is incredibly trendy. I didn’t even know how to handle myself coming straight from work in 95 degree weather looking like a wet slob. Not to mention that my friend brought me birthday balloons that were bumping into people the whole time. Bottom line– we weren’t the classiest group in there. Came for restaurant week and the menu had good choices. They didn’t have any bread for us but they offered us taro chips(which are a «side» on the menu) and didn’t end up charging us, which was a classy touch. The taro chips were oily and salty(both positive adjectives to me). Ordered the fish tacos to start– really tasty halibut with a spicy mayo sauce on top. I enjoyed these, but a friend of mine thought they were too breaded. For main course I ordered the branzino. There were two nice pieces of fish on the plate. The flavor of the actual fish was pretty bland but the sauce and«coverings» added some salt and tang to the dish and overall I really enjoyed it. dessert was choice of pana cotta, almond flourless chocolate cake or marscapone/espresso cake. We ordered espresso cake(think tiramisu) and the flourless cake. The flourless cake was Dry and needed more ganache on top to moisten it up. The espresso cake was the highlight. Tiramisu whipped cream and ice cream in one, can’t go wrong there. Overall: Service was decent, the place was beautifully decorated and the food was pretty good. Probably not affordable if not on restaurant week.

What a disappointment. Had some clients in from overseas thought this would be a nice place to take them. Thankfully we walked out and went elsewhere before they arrived. I understand it’s summer time but if you have no interest In your customers you should just close for the summer . First on arrival we were told main dinning room was closed. Again as New Yorkers we understand this can happen in the summer. That is ok but they should tell you that when you call for reservations . That noted we could count the number of people eating there on one hand . Next the hostess wanted to sit us in Middle of the empty room verse the more intimate corner banquet. we corrected that and had her push two tables together so we could sit in the more comfortable corner table. It then took some time after we were sat for anyone to notice us and even bring water. We then requested several times to different people that we would like to order drinks. After about 20 minutes a waitress came and gave us drink and dinner menus. Then disappeared. Never asking us if we wanted a drink . after about another 15 minutes we just got up and walked out. We did not eat anything as who knows how long that would have taken so can’t review it. Further it seemed like no one even cared that we left. On our way out the manager was outside having a cigarette and also did not seem to care. The owner of this place boasts about his long history in hospitality going back to the days of studio 54. All I can think is this the is spending his summers out in the hampton’s and has no one who cares about working in NYC . I am not sure why this place will stay open unless the Lombardy hotel uses it for room service needs. Thankfully there are many great restaurants with great service within blocks . We instead took our friends to the monkey bar for a fabulous night of great drinks, a great meal with exceptional service . There is a reason monkey bar has been around since 1938! Harlow I would be surprised if it stays around until 2016. Sl

Just went here for restaurant week. I like the décor a lot and vibe Although there was a family with young kids next to us who were climbing on the banquettes that wasn’t too bad. I ordered the fish tacos which were fried. I am not crazy of fried fish tacos and should have asked that before I ordered I prefer grilled. It was ok but to me the fried fish took over any other taste the app had to offer so I wouldn’t order that next time. I really liked the scallions a lot they were light and delicious. Wasn’t crazy about the flourless cake but my bf liked his espresso cake. Overall ok experience would go back for drinks and maybe some apps.

Definitely mediocre in every respect. The space is small and the noise level is high. I ordered s fish taco appetizer & scallops entrée. Both arrived lukewarm. Dessert was a brownie type cake. The service level was unacceptable. We had to request the check 5 times before someone finally brought the check to us. The décor is far from being art deco or old hollywood. There was nothing special about the décor to create any type of ambience. There are several short flights of steps leading down to the dining room. It gives a subterranean effect as if you were dining in someone’s windowless basement. There are plenty of great restaurants in NY. This is not one of them.

Very good, location, food and vibe. I have been here 4 times now and I would say it’s a better for dinner than lunch. The service is generally very good but sometimes a tad snobbish(to be expected tho)

The second time is a charm. My friend and I were invited back to Harlow to re-experience what the restaurant had to offer. Just like the first visit, the service was wonderful. The hostess and waiters greet you with warm smiles and an enthusiasm to deliver a fine dining experience. Something that I still cannot get over is the beauty from the immense detail in the décor. At some point, I thought I was apart of Sex and the City or Gossip Girl! LOL. As for the dishes, we explored options on the menu outside of the restaurant week menu. There were other food options that I would have never thought would be possible, but it certainly worked for me. Appetizers: I would recommend their seafood plateau as an appetizer. The tuna tacos and fried shrimp wrapped in lettuce were also to die for if you are looking for some more seafood choices. If you can’t choose, go for those fried shrimp wrapped in lettuce! It was perfectly cooked and the flavors/textures all worked very well on the palate. Main Course: I wish I had ordered another fish/seafood for the main course to explore more of Harlow’s specialty. The prime rib was delicious, but as you can tell from my appetizers, I was pretty much full already. If you want to go for a lighter option, go for their fish! The diver scallops were very fresh and well put together, but I wish there was more truffle flavor present. Sides: Whoever thought you could flash fry cauliflower and add Korean gochujang(or hot pepper paste)! This deserves a paragraph of its own, so I would definitely try this again. Well if you can’t tell, I have yet to visit the other NYC Harlow location on my next girls night out!

When it comes to restaurants, theatricality is demonstrated on the plates of glorious chefs or in the cocktails of famous mixologists. Harlow is theatrical through their décor. They stray as far as possible from minimalism, as evidenced by their bombastic array of kitsch. Encased in translucent glass windows are Koi fish playfully plastered onto the surface of a mirror, wooden statues of Safari animals that graze the dining room, and divine stallions that frame an antique clock. Beautiful chandeliers and padded upholstery are fastened to the walls straight out of a HGTV makeover. Unfortunately, the creativity ends at the décor and falls short of reaching the menu. The Restaurant Week menu appears tactically designed to deter patrons. The menu is ungenerously edited. Portions were scantly and dishes were barren of taste. The Lamb Meatballs were slathered with fermented Korean gochujang, served with pickled red onions and sprinkled haphazardly with mint. The combination was confusing, resulting in an unappetizing mess. The Cream of Kabocha Squash soup was worse. Squash was blended with blood sausage, cream, and topped with scallion paprika oil. The proportions were unbalanced. Overall, the soup tasted of plain heavy cream. The salmon was the only seafood item on the menu. It arrived at our table in an over-sized plate. Mid-center was a meager cube of fillet approximately 3 inches by 3 inches. It is plated with raw leafy greens. The fat-streaked salmon was perfectly broiled and had a satisfying crunchy layer of skin. The meat itself was flavorless. There was no trace of a miso reduction. Harlow is the only restaurant I have been to for Restaurant Week with only one dessert choice, a yogurt panna cotta. It is served in a pool of tart, pomegranate granita. Decorated with subtle pine nuts and fresh sun-ripened berries. The panna cotta was perfectly sweetened. It was the only highlight of the entire meal. Overall, the entire experience was under-performing. The point of enrolling in NYC’s much-anticipated Restaurant Week is to captivate new patrons, improving the volume of business. Instead, Harlow scales back on cost and quality, shooting itself in the foot. Some pro tips: Disappointing choice for restaurant week.

I am not sure if I would categorize this as a seafood restaurant. There is a wide variety of choices on the menu to satisfy everyone. The décor is absolutely beautiful. It is almost worth the trip there alone. We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday evening. I was shocked how empty it was. It appears the restaurant attracts a young wealthy crowd. At around 9:30pm it was filling up. I would imagine it does a decent lunch business as well based on the location. We were promptly seated. They offer three different types of tasty chips served in a glass for the table. They were so good, we ordered a second. There is a $ 5 charge for additional servings however. I was pleased that they informed us rather than just put it on our bill. They were quickly consumed. There were four people in our group. Two ordered the Fish Tacos with Cabbage, chipotle, cilantro. The others ordered Lamb Meatballs with Kochujang marinara, mint, pickled red onions and Crispy Shrimp with Jalapeño ponzu. Three tacos were prepared on a tray and were prepared just right. A side order of accoutrements were included so you could add jalapenos and spicy carrot chips to your liking. The other dishes in our party were given high marks. As a main course two of us ordered Ribeye Aji Panca Peruvian Peppers, roasted marble potato & Brussels sprouts. The other orders were Halibut Miso glaze, seasonal vegetables, hijiki soy vinaigrette and Diver Scallops with Sunchoke, truffle butter. The steak was cooked perfectly and the accompanying sauce was a great combination. The Scallops appeared to be properly prepared and Halibut received good feedback. For desert one of the guests ordered Chocolate Pistachio Cake with Chocolate sponge, chocolate mousse, pistachio cream, pistachio gelato. It was well received. Service was excellent. Our dinner was efficient but not rushed. The waiter of bus staff were attentive and extremely polite. We used an offer from . It included four starters, four entrees and two bottles of wine. We were not given our choice of wines other than«White» or «Red». It would have been nice if they had a short list to choose from. The offer from Gilt cost $ 220. The total bill with tax and tip came to $ 305. A good value for the evening. Had we ordered more side dishes, it would have been a little over $ 350. I calculated the regular bill at around $ 460 with tax and tip. This would have easily been over $ 500 with additional side orders or a round of Oysters. I felt this would have been a bit high for the overall experience. I would definitely recommend the restaurant but probably would not go if I did not have another offer to use.

Came here with my friend and her mom we couldn’t get into the restaurant we had been wanting to try & bumped into this one. The place had a great ambiance very mature. We were starving so we didn’t order any apps, our server was very knowledgable of the menu & very friendly. Everyone else took the safe router and ordered the stone chicken But being the daredevil that I am I ordered the salmon which was very good ! The chef recommended it be served med rare and it had a nice crunchy skin on the top of the salmon. Under the salmon was this amazing chipotle corn, the corn mixed with the salmon was out of this world ! As my side order I had the spicy cauliflower it had a little kick to it, nice & spicy just enough crunch to it. I have never had cauliflower served this way & at 1st it reminded me of sesame chicken I couldn’t believe how tasty it was ! I defiantly want to come back and try a few other things on the menu this place gets 5 stars in my book

It’s a lovely spot geared towards the upper-crust on and around billionaire’s row. During my most recent visit I saw a group of drunk one-percenter men having fun at the bar. The talk got louder and more sexual than it should have and these«gentlemen» began to offer their opinions on the physical attributes and imagined sexual proclivities of the employees. Nothing was done to reel in these well-heeled heels. Soon one of them ventured to the hostess station where he began to grope and grind on the young woman who was simply trying to do her job in a professional manner. The terrified and helpless look on her face was awful — it was clear she wanted to defend herself yet it was equally clear she feRed for her job if she did so. Her perplexed look of fear, anger, disgust and uncertainty will stick with me for a long time. When her co-workers finally came to her aid, they simply stood there until the drunken letch went back to his table. Little was said. Nothing was done. Then they left the young woman to man her post as if nothing happened. Unbelievable. So if you want to go to a place where management doesn’t protect its employees from being molested — ANDEVENAPOLOGIZESTOTHESEXUALASSAULTERSFORTHEINCONVENIENCE — then Harlow is for you. NOTETOOWNERSHIP: if a customer at a McDonalds in Hollis, Queens groped a cashier, they would be arrested. Your shameful protection of your gilded customers at the expense of your employees’ safety and dignity is not only ethically appalling in the year 2015, it’s downright criminal.

What a restaurant! You’re definitely in for a different kind of dining experience in that the layout of this is unlike any other restaurant. Not a bad thing, but do expect it to get loud. They do have a special private dining area for large parties, but it was essentially a long hallway. Probably not the best seating, but again, unique layouts in this place. The main bar area is extremely loud and there were a few small tables there. The back bar area is small, with larger, more spread out table seating, but still loud. Onto the important part, the food — so much seafood and all was delicious, but nothing was outstanding. Everything was what you’d expect — good oysters, tuna tartare was delicious, salmon was a little dry, chicken was good, nothing really stood out. Everything was just simply good. None of the dishes had a special ingredient that made it stand out or a special flavor that made you go wow. For the price, I’d probably go somewhere else that will really knock you off your feet. I probably wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and I’m not dying to come back here. While it wasn’t awful, it just really didn’t stand out or make much of an impression on me.

I’ve been here quite a few times recently. Harlow is a great addition to the midtown dining scene, although I have noticed consistency of the food being an occasional issue over the past year. That and the quality of service varies greatly from night to night. The age demographic is all over the map. Lots of young hipsters sitting side by side with older businessmen, and wall street types. The place has a great, spacious layout. Very chic, glamorous and trendy. A perfect spot for drinks, dinner or both. The food is normally top notch, although the menu has gotten a little boring in my opinion. I’ve had the oysters with crispy kimchee, chopped salad, and himachi apps which were all delicious. The scallops with sunchoke purée, bronzino, and king crab/sea urchin pasta are some of my favorites. All in all, tremendous ambiance, good food, but hit or miss service.

Uh-oh, spaghetti-o’s. Based on my outstanding experience last time for winter Restaurant Week, I decided to come here again for the summer one. Surprisingly, Harlow offered the exact same menu which was fine by me since I loved everything I got last time around. However, the quality seems to have dropped a little season over season: — The lamb meatballs were still really tasty, but a bit drier than I remembered. — The salmon dish was the biggest difference. Most glaringly, it was a lot smaller, which was confirmed when upon inquiring, the waiter told me that you get smaller portions when you order from the RW menu. Um… WHAT?! Isn’t that the whole point of Restaurant Week? A special magical foodie time when you can experience a high caliber restaurant just like normal patrons, but for a lower cost? Also, the miso reduction was NOT poured tableside like last time, which took away a lot of the X factor. — Panna cotta was still good, but didn’t blow me away this time(perhaps due to my disappointment with the first two courses?) Also, generally the service was definitely spottier than last time. It took quite a long time for our entrees to arrive after we were done with appetizers and it took a bit of work to flag down somebody to get the check. I was told the ultimate goal of restaurants is to create repeat customers. Harlow was so close, but with all the amazing options in NYC, I don’t think I’ll be back.

The worst service imaginable. After an hour and a half we still had not been served. Other patrons, who came in at the same time we did, walked out at that point. When we asked for bread they said that they brought the bread with the food, so we could not even munch on that. The problem was that there were not enough wait staff; the two who were on duty were incredibly overworked, and without enough backup from assistants. The kitchen was remarkably slow: One and a half hours to bring salads(of raw vegetables). One salad had a hair in it. The food was okay, but nothing special.
They should have been prepared for Restaurant Week customers – or not participate in the program. It was one of my worst dining experiences in NYC – and I was born and raised here. Caveat emptor!!!

If you’re looking for an upscale seafood dinner with the girls or an intimate dinner, I would recommend this sexy chic restaurant. Walk into a beautiful nicely decorated bottom floor with ample booth and table seating. The layout allows for private conversations without having to overhear other parties. The food is on the pricier side with limited main entrees from a $ 62 waygu beef to a $ 40 halibut(what I ordered). The halibut was tasty, but nothing too memorable. The sea urchin pasta and scallop dish was good as well, but not spectacular that would make me return. We also ordered a side of cauliflower($ 10) which was cooked in a interesting sweet bold sauce and a side of mushroom($ 10) which was very boring and a bit salty. The highlight was the ambiance, not the food. The service was good too-courteous and brief.

I cannot stop thinking about that BRANZINO, it was so freakin delicious! A nice crisp on the skin, in a sauce that can almost be described as fragrant. I wanted to lick my plate at the end. BRICKCHICKEN — One of the most elusive qualities to capture in a chicken is juiciness, and a reason why I fear ordering chicken at any restaurant. Harlow has consistently achieved(at least, twice for me) a happily tender and juicy result, with delicious roasted vegetables to round out the plate. Always a fan of golden beets, a simple way to brighten any dish. The SALMON was a total win too. Salmon can easily be a predictable dish at any restaurant, and often over-cooked and over-seasoned to compensate for being overcooked. I LOVED the salmon here, it was fall-apart tender and perfectly flavorful. And sea urchin pasta. So. Good. A number of the appetizers impressed too. Oh, don’t be fooled by the deceptive simplicity of the ice cream sundae. The toppings — hot fudge, sprinkles, the works — take you back to your childhood. Warm service and a beautifully decorated interior make for a really wonderful experience. It reminds me a more corporate-business version of ABC Kitchen, with eye-catching flower arrangements dotting the space. A really nice, different option among the steakhouse offerings in midtown.

Beautiful space. Caters to the«haves», if you will. Crowd is mostly made up of carefully tailored suits and mink coats in the 40+ crowd. The staff is gorgeous and friendly, unless they try not to let you in because they don’t believe that you’re meeting people already inside. annoying. Cocktails are decent, $ 16, strong but overall didn’t blow my mind. The food also was on the pricier side– the hamachi tacos were delicious but were legitimately the size of my thumb. Lobster Mac and cheese was also tasty, but I’ve had better. Great place if you crave exclusivity. Meh if you’re looking for quality.
