This place sucks. My wife was inside and it was empty inside. I tried to make it inside and was rejected. Go across the street to 303 and have an infinitely better time. This place will need to change owners and bouncers before it ever turns a profit. Go anywhere else and you will have a happier life.

I’ve been here a few times and had very different impressions. Last summer I came for a Men’s fashion week after party and really enjoyed the bar and the lower level dance floor. All of the staff I encountered that night were very professional and helpful despite the crowd. I returned in the fall and once again had a great time with my friends and encountered no problems. On these nights, the DJ was good, the door managers were professional, and the drinks well poured. I would have given a 3.5−4 on these experiences alone. I returned a couple of weeks ago and did not enjoy the same professionalism. I understand that the new door manager was just recently hired, but it does not excuse his behavior. After letting me in, he pulled my friends from behind me and told me to go in without them. After I asked to wait with them he told me that I was being unreasonable and that entering«wasn’t happening tonight» after just trying to push me through the door. He proceeded to berate my party about why I should have gone in without them when told. I saw him be even more rude to the party of leggy blondes that tried entering as a foursome after we had called an über. There was no line after they left as well and it wasn’t that late in the night. While waiting for my über, the security guard walked over and apologized for his coworkers behavior also stating how unreasonable this man was. Not impressed.

The rudest experience with a doorman in all 8 years of living here. Complete unnecessary level of douchey-ness. This place won’t be around long, mark my word. Doormen that hate life and their job and exercise their ‘power’ by being rude to potential patrons? Bless their hearts. Save some time and go to ANY other bar in the area. This one isn’t worth it.

The bouncers are incredibly degrading and sexist to women. Waited in line to join friends already inside of the venue and told«it’s not gonna happen — don’t waste your Friday.» This is absolutely unacceptable. If a person is going to be denied entry, there needs to be a valid reason. When asked for one, was told by the bouncers(yes, by both), «because I’m a dick and you’re not getting in.» I’m not sure this is an acceptable way to speak to a a women(or to any person) in 2016. Maybe it’s just the Californian in me, but this would NEVER happen on the west coast. Also, not sure how I feel as someone with a strong career and considering relocation to NY. This pretty much confirmed that this is not a progressive/positive city to be in if bouncers making minimum wage can treat well paying potential customers in such a degrading and aggressive manner. And more than anything, it was actually really sad not to be able to see my friends who had already been inside for some time, after having taken a cab from uptown to meet them.

So rude people at the gate. They did not even know how to be polite. Thank you to French owner to give a so bad image of what does represent France. You can try to be selective or racist but honestly I wish you not to stay longer on this market. Rates are here to say that you are not in the good way …

Racist as all hell. Waited in line for them to tell basically every Caucasian person they can go in. although my boyfriend and I were in front of people in line, we were ignored. Then after being confused and maybe thinking that they may have just missed us the front man proceeded to tell us «it’s not gonna happen» I was never so offended. When we had left basically every person who wasn’t Caucasian had been rejected at the front door. I do not know what’s going on in this place but apparently it’s good enough to be rejecting people left and right for not being Caucasian. I would literally give this place 0 stars if I could. I didn’t even go in and had a terrible time.

Don’t EVER come here. This establishment lacks hospitality for all of its guest, especially ones of a different ethnicity. You are treated as if you are not a human being. Again. This place hates diversity, Yet they are willing to play Hip Hop, Rap, Reggae, Trap and Afro-beats. Strange concept yeah?

Truly a shame that there isn’t an option to give ZERO stars to this steaming pile of dogshit they call a «nightclub.» I was so fucking repulsed by this hipster-infested shithole that I actually felt obligated to waste 7 minutes of my time to write this scathing review. This establishment doesn’t even deserve the luxury of giving themselves the title of «club.» After turning the corner of Forsythe and Broome and very seriously debating whether I had stepped into a slum, I proceeded to a small line of unhappy patrons helplessly watching 40-some year old hipsters waltz in to blow their entire month’s paycheck from whatever thrift store in Williamsburg these fuckin’ twats work at. You’ll be greeted by your average grade level graduate black bouncer who gets paid minimum wage to tell everyone to «stand in line off to the side or you’re not getting in» as to give the impression people actually want to wait to get in this pathetic little place. For 45 minutes I watched a freakshow of gender-confused Portlandia rejects walk in past the bouncer as he assuredly exclaimed multiple times they were at capacity. I quickly realized that getting into Happy Ending required the mark of a thousand wrinkles from decades of smoking American Spirits and checking your unused, worthless degree in Art History at the door. The bouncer had the audacity to say we could get in if we bought a table for $ 5000. Who the actual hell do you greasy, gangly, unicycle-riding, overall-wearing mustached fucks think you are? Guessing some trash progressive indie band out of Brooklyn with 100,000 likes on Facebook who’ve «finally made it big» were probably in there. Translation? No fucking person worth any dignity would have graced these miserable roaches with their presence. The only Happy Ending is when you leave this fucking shitshow.

My friend loves it here and insisted I try it out. Even though I knew of its poor Unilocal rating, I decided to trust my friend and come. Big mistake. I can’t speak for the downstairs vibe, but upstairs was completely dead. On a Friday night. At Midnight. I can see why! The music was super strange. Eclectic, alternative, old school? I have no idea what genre they were playing, but it’s nothing I’ve ever heard before. My two friends and I all got drinks and none were drinkable! They were cocktails and absolutely disgusting. Like, I physically could not consume it. Absolute shame I brought my out-of-town friend here and wasted our time. Moral of the story: always trust Unilocal.Unilocal will never steer you wrong. Unilocal is life.

Date: 12/20/2016 This venue reminds me that NYC is in fact still racist. Despite the many ethic groups that come to live, work in and define the pluralistic culture that attracts most to this wonderfully colorful city, Happy Endings choses to exclude the more diverse members of NYC’s society into their space in the Lower East Side. LES has a rich history that is slowly being eroded by gentrification and the moving in of white people of a higher economic status than most New Yorkers despite ethnicity/color. The club is known for its exciting playlist featuring Hip Hop, Reaggeton and Afrobeats – all artistic movements that were originally lead by people of color. It makes no sense therefore that people of color are excluded from this club – it is after all their artistic creations that are put on display for others to consume. The bouncer working was named Julio and despite his own physical categorization as a person of color, he refused to let anyone else who didn’t appear to be white into the venue. While the club continues to participate in the business of cultural appropriation, all their patrons participate in this devastating business as well. As a Afro-European, raised in Africa and living in New York, I am certain that the artists whose music is being played would be disgusted by such prejudice practices and that this is kind of thought that allowed for the assassination of great leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcom X and of course, JFK. Ps. This was removed because it «didn’t explain the customer experience enough», AKA a lame excuse for censorship. So just to reiterate, the bouncers were rude, prejudice, and blatantly only let people in who were of Caucasian decent. Resulting in us, people of color, standing in below 30 degrees weather, for over 40 minutes, to finally tell us(after watching us stand in the cold) that we «can’t come in.» No explanation as to why we «can’t come in.» I was not able to experience the full service of this establishment, because I was not of the«standard» to get in.

These bouncers on the door are the most horrendous, men I have ever met and belong in prison. Yes I fell over and yes I was drunk but last time I checked getting drunk isn’t against the law and if you dont want people to get drunk in your establishment. dont serve alcoholic drinks because this is the inevitable result. I cant see why falling over is such a crime that I have to be punished by five big bully men to walk home from the club without a coat or scarf and with no phone to call anyone, on my own in the freezing New York winter because I was not allowed to go back in and grab these things. Why in all the Gods name do I have to wait untill the next day to come and pick up my coat rather than just going inside there and then and picking it up, there was five of them! Im sure one of them could of taken a moment out of sassing around doing sweet F-A acting like Zeus and hand picking out who is allowed in on the almightiest power trip of all time to assist me and look for it(and make sure I dont run off. because it was just such a great club) Im not from New York and haven’t got a clue how to get anywhere without the help of my trusty New York City Mapper phone app. These men are bullies and should not be allowed to work in places like this, Über drivers arent allowed to work without stringent background checks because they are dealing with vulnerable people like. drunk people and the same should be true of bouncers. Its dangerous to allow people to go back home like this without their friends or their phone, luckily I had money to get a taxi home, but if I had not I would have been walking the street for ages on my own. LASTTIME I CHECKED A WOMANGETTINGDRUNKISNOT A CRIMESO I SHOULDN’T BEPUNISHEDFORIT!!!

Do you and your friends like being treated like shit when you go out? Then this is the place for you. Never in my life have I come across bigger asshole bouncers. You would have thought fucking Beyoncé was downstairs or something. I’m used to power hungry male bouncers in the city but these guys took it to a new level. How does it make sense to let in JUSTME and not my friends? The one guys literally yelled at my friends to get off line after I asked if they could come in with me to celebrate my birthday. My one friend even knew the DJ.

When Happy Ending was a nightclub modeled after an illegal Chinese bathhouse, it was one of my favorite clubs in the city. It’s reopened without its old charm and redesigned for bottle service. The name is the same and the service is good, but the magic is gone.

Good lord, not since 2008 Meatpacking have I seen so much unnecessary rudeness and douchey-ness from a door staff. Friends and i were enjoying some drinks at the bar. Then they quickly added a velvet rope and turned it into a «private party»(total nonsense, btw)… I politely asked the door guy if it would be a problem to get my sister in… says not a problem. An hour later when I tried to, he barks«you can’t keep bringing people in! it’s a private party»… I explained that I hadnt brought anyone in and he said«they made an exception cause I was already inside but can’t keep letting everyone in…» in any case… as I went inside to close out the tab, he proceeded to be a bigger d-ck to my family/friends. Good work. Needless to say, won’t be returning, even though it’s a cool space(restaurant/bar upstairs, dance floor downstairs) with a very nice Alex Katz hanging on the wall and good bartenders making solid cocktails(ergo the 2 stars)

The food is good but very VERY small portions. The entrees felt like appetizers so extrmely overpriced for what is served. Steak tartare is very good. The«club» downstairs is weird. After the dinner my boyfriend and i had some drinks and danced a little, dj was good but out of nowhere a rude waitress approached and said«this table is reserved» without an apology or asking if she could reseat us somewhere else. She didnt say sorry and was extremely awkward. After the attitude we left, just wasnt worth giving them more money with so many great options nearby with far leas attitude and better atmosphere.

AWFUL! Lounge publically shamed an alleged rape victim by posting a video of said rape victim socializing with the bar back who is the accused. Appears the woman was likely drugged and then raped in their bathroom. I cannot support an establishment who would be so quick to judge an alleged victim and go as far as to publically shame her. Let the police do their job and show some respect and class.

One of the few nightspots in the LES that I would step in these days. The B&T crowd of bros and basics that make the blocks above Delancey a hellhole has crept south and now there are very few places that aren’t full of douches. Happy Ending is one of the last spots with a decent door policy and a crowd that isn’t all college age/wasted. Good DJs and even the food is good here.

Happy Ending has been a great place to have fun in NYC. I’ve been having drinks and dinner with friends there since almost a year now, and every time I have a swell time. The music provided by Oliver Stumm on the first floor is always a pleasure to listen, ranging from classics such as Serge Gainsbourg to eurohit Todd Terje. Sometimes they have live-music that very calmly cheers up dinner. They have a fantastic art collection in the restaurant and the décor is a lovely mix of timeless and modern chic. A nice spot to go for a drink or dinner with a group of friends.

For many of us over 30 people in the New York area, the nightclub scene has really turn bad and boring. Perhaps that’s due to age, and we’ve all arrived at that«been there done that» stage of life. Naaaah, I think the club scene is whack! Well if you want a dose of what it used to be like, the place to go is Happy Ending. Oliver deliver’s a refreshing place for cocktails and hipster free music! With odes to great lounge entertainers, and«Style Wars».

KenScale: 7.0÷10 Happy Ending is a new restaurant that has transformed from massage parlor turned bar. It is located nearby Chinatown, with a retro dining room that makes you feel like you’re at a club instead of a restaurant. When I arrived, the place was packed with young, handsome crowd. Unfortunately, the food from kitchen helmed by a chef who once ran the kitchen at a Michelin-starred restaurant in France, didn’t quite live up to the expectations. The identity of the dishes is a bit puzzling at Happy Ending. It seems to have French accent and influence, but it wasn’t particularly obvious. Mac and cheese with four cheese truffle was tasty but nothing about Tuscan chopped salad impressed me. Roasted mustard chicken was adequately cooked, but it didn’t have a distinguishing feature in flavor or texture. Salmon with green curry sauce wasn’t even cooked properly, not showing any texture, while I felt filet mignon with spinach and pine nuts was overcooked. A side of gratin saved the day, along with mac and cheese. Both desserts that my dining group tried(pot de crème and bread pudding) were serviceable, but again it was hard to find anything that wowed me. The place seems to be a go-to hang out place for young crowd in the neighborhood, so you’ll either love or hate the clubby atmosphere. Getting a reservation isn’t particularly hard, and the restaurant has a full bar with some nice cocktail selections. I was really hoping that Happy Ending would be the type of underrated surprise restaurant I’m always fond of going to and visting again, but unfortunately the dining experience wasn’t quite there. Do check this place out if you’re inclined to hang out for drinks in a chic setting.

Best steak tartare in New York, hands down. The sea diver scallops and peppercorned short rib, absolutely sensational. Excellent selection of Old world a new world wines, and the simple cocktails made to perfection. I have to say, when I first began to come here the food did not impress me nor the service, but because the atmosphere and the never ending shortage of beautiful interesting people, I have continued to come, and the last two nights of service with the new menu-I am jubilant. This is a MUST for anyone who has not been or those who might have been deterred by the food in the beginning. I’ll be coming for dinner regularly.

Not a Happy Ending Told by the hostess that there was no seating upstairs or downstairs; she changed her mind about 5 minutes later and we were seated upstairs. Food and drinks for 5 people, not bad but the portions were small and pricey($ 20 for macaroni and cheese… err). Service was fine. Aside from the service and price I’m disappointed that after we agreed with the waiter to split the bill three ways across three cards, two days later I found that they had charged the whole whack to me despite handing me a check/receipt that said otherwise. After waiting a week where the desk-service told me there wouldn’t be a problem in correcting this; eventually was told they would be keeping the extra $ that I hadn’t signed for. This comes despite the fact we gave him 3 cards. wrote down the split on the receipt and went over it with him(as well as tipping him well). Lady on the phone told me she had a signed check from me for the full amount, which, given that I still have my customer receipt, was unprofessional and untrue.
