This will be my second time visiting with Dr. Pruzansky. The first time I had one of those freak at home accidents, yes apparently flipping the comforter on your bed is hazardous to your hand and holy cow did I think I was going to die, ok, not really but it hurt like a *&^%#$. Anyway, on my first visit, Dr. P did the standard ex-rays and did not find anything broken, bruised or otherwise messed up with my left hand. He did note that I had a small amount of arthritis… not me… yes me… again, I digress, from what he could tell I probably did some sort of pull in the hand, but it was nothing that rest and Tylenol would not cure. You mean I don’t need surgery, nope, I am going to live, Yes I am. Now would I have liked that the ex-ray showed some sort of «oh hell what did I do to my hand thing», well part of me wanted that because that would have been a clear answer. Us humans sometimes need clear answers and sometimes there just are none. So fast forward, about two years later and I really had totally forgot about Dr. P and was referred to him(from a different doctor) because of a right hand issue. Me… full of issues. So I call wanting to make an appointment and the receptionist says, oh you have been here before and I of course say…“I have”, and she says yes… when you messed up your other hand flipping the comforter. Oh my god that’s actually in the computer … hilarious. Anyway, I go in for my visit and Dr. P takes the ex-rays which are kind of non-conclusive, but that is only because the problem is not exactly showing up on the ex-ray this time, but its clear there is a problem, so this time, its off to surgery I shall go. Oh, and yes, this hand also has a touch of the dreaded arthritis. Dr. P was very clear about what surgery would entail, and all of the pre-op and post-op stuff that goes along with the surgery. I really felt very comfortable with making the surgery appointment quickly and getting the problem fixed. I have absolutely no reservations about the competency of Dr. P in working on my hand and seeing to it that I am as good as new, minus the arthritis. Now, I will say one thing to all of you out there, Dr. P is a cross between Andy Griffith(The Andy Griffith show Andy) and Larry David(Curb your enthusiasm). He even wears glasses just like Larry David and has sort of the balding gray hair like Larry David. If you are not a fan of either of the two personalities then you might not like Dr. P’s manner. He’s nice and explanatory, thus the Andy Griffith, with a touch of Larry David… the hey, its that way… I cant make it any different, take it or leave it, there’s my advice and I have no apologies for not sugar coating this whole visit attitude. Quite frankly, I love both of the shows and I appreciate Larry David’s sarcastic wit, so me and Dr. P get along quite well. If you need a doctor that is going to listen to your life’s history and be your best pal after the visit then Dr. P is not the doctor for you. He is a doctor in the moment of your visit of what is wrong and to get to the point of the problem. If your problem is not between your hand and your elbow its not relevant and get back to the point as Dr. P does not have time for time wasting. I like a –to the point-doctor so we get along just fine, so again, fair warning… if you need hand holding from the hand doctor he may not be a good fit. He will examine your hand and give you a diagnosis, but not hold your hand and sing show tunes. Dr. P has come highly recommended from two of my doctors, who both knew him so his reputation in his field must be very well regarded from his peers. Insurance is accepted but as with all doctors always to check to make sure they take your specific type of insurance.
