This place is a great find. It is very small but my friends and I grabbed the last table before they filled up so I am not sure on how the wait time is if they are full. We sat down right away and were greeted in the perfect amount of time, not to fast but not too slow. We ordered a bottle of wine and the presentation was beautiful for a sushi joint. The food came out FAST. We had just gotten our apps then 3 minutes later the sushi, I wish they would have waited on that but that was the only complaint. The waiter was super friendly and answered all of the questions we had. I ordered pork goyza with a spicy shrimp roll and a Philadelphia roll which was all SO good, and tasted very fresh. We also ordered fried ice cream and mochi ice cream which was very tasty and perfect to share. The bill took long to be delivered but it was also later at night and they were starting to shut things down. Overall, a very nice spot, but small so not recommended for a large crowd. Also, prices are reasonable, with splitting the bill between 4 people after all the food/wine we ordered it was 28 dollars, very cheap for a NYC dinner!

For years I had given up on this place, mistakenly thinking it wasn’t good. By circumstance I happened to have been there 3 or 4 times in the past month now — and each time the sushi was fresh and interesting. It is a basic narrow restaurant with tables along each side of the room. Service has always been pleasant and quick. Even ordering delivery was without consequence — prompt and fresh. The hana east roll is probably one of my favorites but the sushi/sashimi is surprisingly good and tastes fresh from the sea. I say surprisingly because the prices are good. One night I remember the salmon was so beautiful it was a delight to eat — in many places the salmon and tuna are simply so ‘generic’ that there is no taste at all and the texture bland. I hope this place stays good so I don’t have to find another sushi place as a ‘go to’ option.

Nice ambiance and décor, but fall short on traditional fare. Their agedashi sauce and tempura tsuyu were lacking in the daikon oroshi which accentuates in helping convey the sauce onto the dipped foods. And their nabe udon(don’t mistaken it for a traditional nabeyaki udon, cuz it’s not) was a over glorified chicken noodle soup with ropes upon ropes of noodles in watered down broth and an invad msg bouquet of broccoli stuffed atop, like some crown or world tree looming over Midgard. The appetizers… Well, deep fried and likely refried(to warm up a second wave no doubt) were boring sad little puffs of crunch and sog. The agedashi tofu was well fried but lacked the traditional touch of grated ginger and daikon radish… Presentation was bland and stark., and the sauce… The tsuyu was sub par. I’d love to meet their owner and see what sort of person they are. The servers were unapologetic for the lack of standards, and the hilariously funny sushi faced who idly stands against the wall and checks his notifications or Instagram account… And the crowd… Maybe it’s early yet((545) but they’re overdressed bourgeois zombies. The storefront was very Attractive And drew Me in. Shame on me. I gave two stars only because the food was digestible tho under impressive. This ends my first review in NYC.

After yoga, I saw a sign for unlimited sake happy hour– two rolls and an appetizer for $ 20. A steal. It was fairly empty, and I was unwinding after a long day. I got a salmon skin salad, and a vegetable roll and soft shell crab roll. The salad was delicious– and huge! It wasn’t one of those small side salads you get with a bento box or a dish, it was a large plate of salad that I almost felt like I couldn’t finish! The rolls were alright– I’ve had better. The soft shell crab roll was coming apart and didn’t taste so fresh. It tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. The vegetable roll was the same– the consistency was off and it wasn’t that crunchy. I decided to have dessert as well and it set me back another $ 7. For 2 mochis? That wasn’t worth it. I did have two small bottles of sake so it was still not bad overall.

Yes they are cheap esp for the neighborhood, but HAVEYOUSEENTHEIRBATHROOM??? Disgustingly nasty and tiny with toilet paper askew on floor I don’t understand how«employees must wash their hands» is even relevant. With that said, SUSHIISRAW most obvious being it easy to kill people… Thank you for taming my spontaneous sushi cravings. I just need to think about your NASTYBATHROOMS, NONJAPANESECOOKSSMOKINGOUTSIDE, … Excuse me I must vomit

Go for the lunch special — 2 rolls for $ 8.50 or 3 for $ 12. Basic quality rolls and quick service.

Grade A rating! 2 Sushi rolls are $ 8.50 3 Sushi rolls are $ 12.50 I like to get 3& one is always a Spider roll. This delicious Soft Shell Crab critter costs an additional $ 2 -& so worth it! Hot tofu soup or a cold salad comes with this meal… & I alternate both, regardless of the outside temps. Hot green tea is included too –upon request. This is a consistently good little neighborhood restaurant in Chelsea. A neighbor introduced it to me years ago & I’ve been returning ever since!

I’ve ordered to-go here several times. The lunch special is decent but not spectacular. Since it was nice out today I figured I’d go in and order. The person handling orders at the front was extremely rude and didn’t seem to have time to take orders. Once he finally got around to taking my order he was snippy and grabbed my money. I asked him if he was having a bad day and he said it’s very busy today. I told him I would be back in a few minutes to pick up my order. When I arrived back there was a bag on the table. I stood and waited for him to give me the bag with the food, once I left I realized he wanted me to take the bag myself instead of handing it to me. I guess I was supposed to assume that was my order. I didn’t even get a thank you while I was leaving. I have just alerted my coworkers about this situation. They were shocked to hear this. I will not return to this establishment.

It’s an ok standard sushi lunch spot. I like that they always have uni in stock(California most recently) and the service is friendly and pretty fast. If you’re in the area stop by, but not a destination spot.

For $ 8.50, you get 2 rolls, and a soup or salad. In the city, that’s a pretty good deal. I tasted the eel and avocado roll, shrimp tempura roll, and the California roll. It all tastes good — soft, chewy and amazing. The rolls were quite minuscule in size, but hey, someone’s gotta make a profit… all in all, my experience here was good. Also, the salad had this great dressing that tasted delicious! The space is small but the tables and chairs for nicely and comfortably.

It wasn’t as though I needed anything to eat. It was late and what I’d consumed so far that day(raw oysters, sweet potato fries, falafel — don’t judge) probably filled me from a caloric perspective if not from a perspective of satisfaction. As a result, I was trolling the street looking for that little something-something that would do it; something that would send me to bed patting my amply rounded belly. Then I spotted this decently-reviewed Chelsea sushi joint right across from where I was staying. Sold. The guy next to me had what looked like a marvelous platter of sushi and when I remarked on it he pointed to the menu item which said«Sushi Deluxe $ 21». Sold again. That was a lot of sushi for $ 21. The friend I was with first asked if we were splitting the order(we were not) then watched with astonishment as I consumed the entire thing, every last grain of rice. No joke, this was a lot of decent sushi for a ridiculously low price. Especially for Midtown Manhattan. The place is nothing, really nothing, to look at but they offer friendly service and a free, large hot sake with your Unilocal check-in and if that doesn’t sell you I’d say you can’t be sold. Affordable, ample, well-prepared, fresh. If I lived nearby I’d probably be in here weekly.

I went here one night after work with a sushi craving. Unlike some other near sushi places that were packed, my boyfriend and I were seated right away. The best part about Hana Sushi is the service. We were immediately greeted by our waiter who promptly gave us some hand wipes to clean our hands. Throughout the night our waiter stood back and waited for our signals of needing assistance. I ordered a glass of merlot and the jumbo spider roll. The jumbo spider roll included soft shell crab, cucumber, spicy tuna, avocado. This is my first time having soft shell crab, and I was not disappointed! So fresh and tasty. The crunch of the soft shell crab and cucumber along with the soft avocado and tuna was the perfect combination of textures. I would definitely come back and I suggest the jumbo spider roll for sure!!!

I am really picky when it comes to eating sushi. specially something as delicate as raw fish, this place had fresh fish, I ordered a yellowtail sashimi, it was really good. I will be coming back again soon.

Eh. I came for dinner last night with a friend and got the pink lady roll, an eel avocado roll, a piece of shrimp sushi and one order of white tuna sashimi. The sashimi and special roll both tasted very watery. I have never tasted fish quite like this before. Not good. The eel avocado roll was fine, as was the shrimp, but I still would not come back. The prices are good, but there are better sushi places in the area. Also, the bathrooms are not very nice.

Great and affordable fresh sushi a bit noisy but a good hole in the wall sushi place. We ordered the beef yakitori and vegetable dumplings for appetizers. The apps were great taste and the right size and for a couple. We continued with three rolls of sushi. The waiter was nice and friendly, the sushi was fresh and tasty and we had a really good time! Very recommended and we will go there again for sure!

Local sushi lunch spot. Great take out and sit in service. Lunch prices are affordable. Sushi is fresh but portions are a bit small especially the cut of the sushi /sashimi slices. Chirashi luch special is my go to order. Nice combination of sashimi and vinegared rice. Fan of the tamago and yellowtail. Also the special rolls are great. These have hefty portions and have a nice combination. I had the eel with various slices of fish rolls. Well executed and tasty.

This place is average. Not bad, just not stellar. I came here with a friend and we were promptly seated and attended to, which was great. The environment is pretty nice, minus all of the after-work bros who insist on being the loudest people in the restaurant. I ordered two sweet potato rolls, which was surprisingly filling, and my friend got the dragonfly roll, which looked great. I asked for their darkest beer, and got Sapporo, which might as well be the color of light apple juice. Fine, whatever. The price wasn’t too bad, but the overall experience was meh enough to make me want to try somewhere else.

Hana Sushi is A-OK. Ambiance is quite nice although some of the tables are a bit close. It would be uncomfortable for me if this place were crowded. Luckily it wasn’t crowded when we got there. Ambiance is dark and Japanese. Quite nice. Waitstaff was Japanese. Nice touch for NYC sushi places in this day and age. Pickled ginger was average. Wasabi was a bit dry and mealy. Salmon Carpaccio: A– Salmon, avocado, ikura, scallion, chives. Sliced very thinly. Soft and smooth like butter. Fantastic. I wish there were just *slightly* more avocado, scallion and chives. Godzilla Roll: C+ Tuna, salmon, yellow tail, deep fried roll. This was my fault. I shouldn’t have ordered fried sushi. Mea culpa. You see, the thing is, I’ve never seen fried sushi before so I HAD to get it. Bleah. It was somewhat dry, boring, No me gusta. It comes with a dipping sauce, but it really needs wasabi to help instill flavor. The cooking just sucks the flavor out. Volcano: A Spicy crunchy tuna, spicy tuna, avocado, spicy sauce. A very nearly perfect sushi roll.

I think this place deserve more than three stars but yet, not four stars really… Not reading my own review from July this year, I walked in remembering my last experience wasn’t so bad. I forgot what I had and ended up, I ordered the same thing, Chirashi, a bowl of sushi rice topped with a variety of sashimi and garnishes. It’s like an explosion of flower with a lot of textures and colors. It’s fun to look at too. My Chirashi was acceptable for the price($ 13), see my previous and this time. Simply acceptable. Yeah… I still did not like a dry Japanese condiment, Furikake, that was sprinkled on top of Sushi rice. I understand non-Japanese may likes and preferes this way but coming from Japan, it is not easy to enjoy Chirashi this way. Furikake killed flavor of fresh fish. It is packed with its own strong flavors. It is really good on white rice or mixing in spaghetti and olive oil. Last time, waiter asked what I would like to have, salad or soup. This time without asking, Miso soup arrived my table. It was good for rainy and cold day and it was fine soup. It had small cubes of Tofu and Wakame, soft and sweet seaweed, in Shiro(white) Miso.
