Best Halal in the city. Better than Halal Guys! It’s right across the street from a mosque, so you know this stuff’s good! Quick and friendly service, with huge portions and the tastiest falafels!

Going to your best local Halal cart or truck beats waiting in line at the nearest Halal Guys. That statement shouldn’t need an explanation.

Super budget-friendly lunch deal. Love that when you get a lamb and chicken meat combo $ 6, they don’t charge you a dollar extra for two diff meats. I hate when halal trucks try to jip you like that, it’s the same amount of meat rah?! Always get it with extra white sauce and a small splash of hot sauce(that shiz be spicy!). Yesterday the owner convinced me to try the green sauce which he makes from scratch at home, parsley, lemon, oil, garlic with a little heat. It was SOGOOD. Totally elevated my lamb/chicken on rice platter. One of my fav deals for lunch.

when it comes to Halal food? ERRYONE talks about Halal Guys. however, this shiny food truck is slinging some mean tasty spicy from the Middle Ea(ts) #seewhatididthere and why is this labelled«Halal Cart»? it’s a Halal TRUCK! it’s the big silver-ish truck sitting on the opposite side of the Mosque on the other side of 11th Street. can’t miss cuz it’s on the corner of 11th St and 1st Ave. the food? insanely good and at a great value(cheap!). nearly everything on the menu is $ 6-$ 7 or under. lamb over rice; chicken over rice; falafel over rice; MEATZILLA combo rice platter(lamb and chicken); and a variety of sandwiches: hamburgers, hotdogs, gyros… the food itself: DELICIOUS! chicken over the rice(a go-to for me) composed of all fresh ingredients. seasoned perfectly. cooked with savor n flavor. the chicken melts in your mouth – tender, not fatty, and totally soaked in layers of spice. the rice fluffy carb goodness. veggies/salad is crunchy, soaks in the spice and sauces, and is a nice cooling component ‘cept it has jalapenos chopped into it(SPICEFACTOR: AWESOME!). the white sauce is excellent. the hot red sauce is fiery. once both sauce soak into the rice and chicken… you are on your way to a deliciously fiery demise. the veggies, rice, and chicken are packed to the brim in a styrofoam container. i’ve had the lamb over rice… which is excellent. btw, you do not get pita with your rice platter like you do at Halal Guys. just an FYI. however the rice combo platters pack enough food that it is hardly missed at all. PROTIP #1: if you don’t like SPICY. do not get the red sauce. it is can be insanely hot especially if they soak your food in it. you and your lower intestines have been warned! the truck offers a variety of sodas. i never opt for them. not because of the sugar content. overly sugary carbonated drinks don’t cut spiciness of the food here – they actually make it worse IMO. ‘sides the beer options in my fridge laughs at these truly«soft drinks.» the truck is strictly take out. you can obviously lean again the building nearby and eat. they’ve set up a huge trash can for all you foodie monsters who can’t resist the urge to pop the top and inhale your food. i hate eating with cheap plastic forks that bend, break, and often are the cause of many food messes… so i control my savage hunger til i get home. i advise you do the same. PROTIP #2: get your food and go. don’t be a savage. does this truck have the volume and lines as Halal Guys? no, but they still do a ton of business. to me, a huge line in front of eatery says nothing to me, but it is who is in that line that is of more value… tons of cabbies, limo drivers, and mosque goers line up and get food from here – which is the reason why i do. the food quality is excellent, price is a great value, and the cuisine offerings feel genuine to what folks from areas of the Middle East might expect in terms of familiar comfort food being replicated in the West. in fact, there was quite a brouhaha amongst cabbies who’d line up cabs and double n triple park to eat from this food truck on both 11th St and 1st Ave. so yeah it can busy here especially when the drunk folks cometh! PROTIP #3: advise you catch cabs who are not scarfing down food cuz of «gas leaks” – DANGER, don’t strike a match! lol drops mic so i can get my rice n spice on before you can! i out yo!

Incredibly nice guys who make very some solid street food. The lamb here is better than I’ve had at any non-Halal Guys cart in New York, and it doesn’t need white sauce to be edible. I live around the corner, and a whole lot of late nights have ended with a quick stop at this cart. I never regret a one. But then again, I’ve got a strong stomach.

One of the best middle-eastern food trucks in the city that I’ve been to, and it has a totally chill vibe(instead of the over-hyped & over-priced Halal Guys). I’ve tried all the middle-eastern fare from this truck(meaning, everything that isn’t a fish sandwich or a hamburger) and what I can tell you is this: the best options are the lamb & fresh falafel(whether in gyro form or over rice). As much as I love this truck, the hummus & baba ghanoush are not good at all. I believe it comes out of a can and has a very strange taste & texture. That is the only reason a star is removed. Extra friendly service, great lamb & falafel, fair pricing & quick.

Four out of five because of the portion size, friendliness of the workers, cleanliness of the truck, price value, and overall taste. Rafiki’s(Union Square) tastes better but is more expensive and has smaller portions. Plus, there’s almost always a line at Rafiki’s.

These guys are like Starbucks. They are on every corner in NYC! Don’t confuse them with the ORIGINAL Halal Guys because they are same same but different! If you want a good gyro, come here. If you want good chicken & rice go to the Halal Guys. You will know the difference because 1) there is no line and 2) they don’t wear yellow shirts!

Outside of the 53rd Street and 6th Avenue Halal cart which is untouchable, this is one of the best halal food carts you are going to find in the city. They relocated across the street because of the Citi bikes getting installed but just know it is still the same guys running the show. The team here is willing to accomodate you. If I want a couple of french fries or a falafel added to a chicken and rice platter it is not a problem. The prices are reasonable, you will spend about $ 5-$ 7 for your meal. The meat is tender and the other ingredients taste fresh, you can’t go wrong here for a meal on a budget. The sauces are also not to be missed whether you are a fan of the secret white sauce(still not sure what this consists of), the bbq sauce, or the hot sauce which isn’t nearly as spicy as the one from the Halal Guys on 53rd.

I am not a Halal food connoisseur, but I am a HUGE fan of this food cart! Get the chicken or chicken/lamb combo over spicy rice. The meat is so tender and flavorful, you hardly need anything else! If you like condiments, you’ll love their sauces. The white sauce is pretty heavy, so I try to go light on that, but the red sauce is ridiculous. So spicy and delicious and packed with heat! The meal also comes with a side salad of iceberg lettuce with some over-sized tomatoes, onions, and peppers. The portions are humongous! You can easily share one order. For around $ 5 bucks, you can’t beat this meal.

4.5 stars! We love the food here. The chicken & rice is really good here. The chicken alone is packed full of flavor! The reason why we don’t give this place 5 stars because of the hot sauce. If you like spicy food, you’ll be disappointed here. The hot sauce is not spicy at all, not even a bit! $ 5 for chicken over rice, $ 1 more if you want to add pita bread… Decent portion…

Pretty good halal cart, got the chicken and rice and they’re very generous with the amount of meat they provide. One 5 dollar chicken and rice meal was able to last me through both lunch and dinner. I live pretty close by so it’s an awesome stop on those drunken walks back home late at night(no idea when they close but they were still open for an order when I was walking back home at 3AM)

Best cart food ever!!! Good way to end a drunken night, although I wouldn’t know about that… Yogurt sauce was delish! Generous portions for such a low price… 5 $!! What a deal. You have to be familiar with the menu however, because lines can get very long after hours, everyone knows exactly what they want, and the guys want you in and out of the way as quick as possible. Definitely a go-to place for a hearty late night meal!

11th&1st Halal Cart is better than 53rd&6th Halal Cart. No joke. For $ 5, you’re given an amazingly large portion of REALLYGOOD chicken over rice with enough to last you another meal. Unlike the cart on 53rd and 6th, the white sauce doesn’t make the meal. The large, succulent chicken pieces are paired really well with the onions, yellow rice, white sauce, and complementary falafel. Great meal for an even better price!

You can’t really go wrong with Chicken Over Rice. Especially this guy’s there ’til 3 in the morning. Your late night munchies and your drunken cravings, this place would be open. The late night guy is super friendly. He also adds a few fries on top of your meats which the afternoon guy doesn’t do. They have fried fish over rice, lamb over rice, chicken over rice, and falafel sandwiches.
