Greener Pastures Wheatgrass Stand

Absolutely hands down the best wheat grass in the city. You start to feel the energizing effects of the wheatgrass almost immediately. Really good if you’re already healthy, or if you need to detox your liver. The sunflower and radish sprouts also make an amazing salad. Stewart is amazing and works very hard to make sure the greens are always top notch. Love this place!

It started for me well over 10 years ago: the occasional, whimsical shot of wheatgrass juice that would jolt energy through my body. As I started learning more about green juice, chlorophyll, anne wigmore, live foods, and the magic of wheatgrass, my appreciation for this stand grew. Then I started sprouting and growing my own, and my appreciation grew into deep reverence, because Stuart, the operator of this stand, has a scientific mastery of growing wheatgrass, and it is far better than anything I could do by myself. I now buy whole trays of wheatgrass from him at least once a week and juice them at home. I also buy his pea and sunflower sprouts. Additionally, his loyalty and devotion to standing out there through all kinds of weather is testimonial to his character, undoubtedly built and cultivated by the magic powers of the juice he so lovingly serves.

This is THE BEST place to get wheatgrass in the city! In addition to the review above, I would like to add that Stewart, the owner/​operator, works very hard to accommodate, get on his mailing list and he will let you know when they are not going to be at the market for whatever reason, or when they have an abundance of certain sprouts. Once there, he is one of the nicest guys you could meet, very informative and helpful. I buy harvested grass every week or so, and juice a little every day, and when I am out, Stewart is there with my next batch of this miracle food. Thanks Stewart!!!

If you are disposed toward green drinks, those super concentrated perfect food vegetable concoctions, this is for you. for those unfamiliar with this kind of food, you get a fantastic nutritional and energy boost and you can feel your digestive system sort of grip when you drink the stuff. your immune system will be incredibly happy.
Greener Pastures has been a staple at Union Square Greenmarket for 14 years. Open every Greenmarket day, they sell wheatgrass. you can buy shots for a couple of dollars. They also sell the actual wheatgrass in pots for your cats, which love to eat it and scratch at it and do whatever it is that cats do.
Greener Pastures will squeeze out the wheatgrass juice on the spot for you, you get a little plastic shot cup, and you chug it down. with utmost politeness, they always offer a chaser of water. but i like to show my manhood by foregoing the chaser. amidst all the grass taste, there is an underlying sweetness that is mildly addictive. sort of the same way alcohol is.
wheatgrass juice is an acquired taste, but it is incredible once you cross over. go for it.
