this is my favorite deli in the area. my favorite routine is waking up a little early before work and coming here for a turkey bacon, egg white, and cheese sandwich, or a toasted bagel with peanut butter.

Great Land Deli is my corner store. There are plenty of bodegas and 99 cent stores lining Knickerbocker, but we’ve always found the owner/operator, as well as others milling about the store, to be the friendliest and most helpful employees of all the stores. The store/deli usually has anything I’m looking for, including cat food and club soda, two of my most frequent purchases. Recently, the store closed for a couple of weeks for renovations. Wow, does it look nice! The deli has turned into more of a grill with a beautiful new kitchen/grill area with a full menu of made to order options including hamburgers and chicken sandwiches. This seems like a great business idea because the deli could work up a quite a line on Saturday mornings with people waiting for ham, egg and cheese sandwiches. My sister and I always ordered omelets, naturally. The renovations aren’t complete; in the coming weeks there will be a new salad bar with organic options, as well as smoothie machines. There are not tables, so this spot is strictly to-go. Although, in the summer you could walk across the street and eat on one of many park benches. This is a great addition to the neighborhood and I’m excited to have a place so close to grab a salad or smoothie. I’ll update this review once the smoothie machines are in full operation. P. S. We call Great Land Deli«Oasis,» and I’m pretty sure others do as well. The sign previously read Oasis, and we’ve had a hard time switching to Great Land.
