I love Grand Bar. This place lives up to its name in size and decadence. Perfect for a first date to grab drinks or just take in the scenery. Expensive drinks but you get what you pay for in the experience.

I’ve been here 3 times and unfortunately the serving staff has been inattentive and not polite at all. They seem to have an attitude that they are better than their customers, and it is evident in their level of service. This is NYC — everyone plays music, serves liquor, and has an expectation of how their patrons may look and present themselves — get off your high horse. Your crowd is awful, DJ is not current, and you have no justification behind being pretentious and rude. Good service gets good tips.

Brunch: used to be great. Higher prices but worth it. Friendly waitresses and good fast service. Now they have raised prices for food and drink($ 18 Bloody Mary that is average and in a short glass). Waiter was very weird. Asked an elderly guest of ours for ID and would not serve a Bloody Mary without it. Took 50 minutes for the food. Completely average brunch and everything cooked with way too much oil/butter. Although a great lounge, it has become an overpriced bad brunch place. Must have changed management as the excellent Soho Yard turned into the terrible new Gilligan’s establishment. Club room nights no longer the same as well. Downhill all the way around over the last 3 years.

With so many restaurants in New York City, rarely do I make a second trip to the same restaurant.. However, I may have found a place that is worth second, third, or even fourth visit — Grand Bar at Soho Grand Hotel. Located on the second floor of this elegant boutique hotel in SoHo neighborhood, Grand Bar offers exceptional cocktails and delicious food in a classy yet comfortable atmosphere with marble top oak bar, rich wooden floors, and woven leather seating. The food menu at Grand Bar highlights local, seasonal ingredients. For appetizer, the Burrata is an absolute must. Creamy, fist-sized burrata — topped with pickled red onion, sorel, and carrots with a sprinkle of chia — sits atop two pieces of kabocha pumpkin. There are cubes of root vegetables, such as butternut squash and roasted parsnips, as well as a swipe of deliciously smooth butternut squash purée, to add additional flavors and complexity to this beautiful appetizer. Try the Lobster Risotto, an off-the-menu item, before it’s gone. This surf and turf risotto features succulent lobster tail and moist sweetbreads, flavored in rich bone marrow broth. The arborio rice is cooked to perfection with right amount of texture and consistency. The Harvest Vegetable Fazzoletti also highlights everyone’s favorite assortment of winter squash. Made with wide, «handkerchief» shape pasta that is extremely doughy and chewy, the dish consists of everything from cubes of butternut to thinly sliced delicata with crunchy pepita in rich, creamy sage brown butter sauce. Order a side of Sweet Potato Fries to share. While a little bit of seasoning would have elevated the flavor of the fries(perhaps a dash of salt would have done the magic!), the sweet potato fries were nonetheless a perfect complement to our entrees. The fries sliced just the right size to be crispy on the outside and still maintain the starchy texture on the inside.

Love this place! Went to the lounge, not the bar, for drinks. It’s not loud or crowded or stuffy or pretentious. It was open and mellow on a hot Sunday afternoon. This is a place where you can get drinks nice and strong. I ordered the Jack rose and it was good and strong, all of our drinks were good and strong. It was about eight of us. After drinks I order dinner, I had the salmon. The portion for the salmon was just right. It was served with potatoes and vegetables, and wasn’t too big, it wasn’t too small. The salmon was perfection and cooked perfectly(medium rare) and the vegetables and the potatoes were delicious! I would definitely, definitely go back here again especially for the drinks! The atmosphere of the lounge is beautiful and chic, the servers were gorgeous and competent, the bathrooms are sleek and nice, and I saw Dave Chapelle there! It doesn’t get much better than that :)

I’ve enjoyed my stay at the Soho Grand but the service at their restaurant is awful. After a long photo shoot that ended in a rain storm I decided to dry off and just eat at the hotel. I was seated promptly, but that’s where the service ended. When my waitress arrived she immediately asked me if I knew what I wanted, which I did. I ordered a cocktail, the steak frites, and brussel sprouts. My drink came 10 mins later, but I didn’t get any water until after the steak arrived. The steak was cooked perfectly, but my waitress never returned to ask how it was. I mean never. I never got another drink. Never got more water. It’s a good thing my food was right because I never would have gotten it fixed anyway. After finishing my meal and sitting there for 30 mins a different waitress walked by and asked if I needed anything, and she seemed surprised when I asked her if I could check out. I’d planned on eating dessert and having more drinks, but I’d had enough by then. Also, they tout themselves as an american whiskey bar, but they only have like 50 whiskies. Visit Chicago to see real whiskey selections.

The girls and I came here on a Saturday night because it was walking distance from Cipriani Downtown. Once you enter Soho Grand Hotel, you have to take the stairs up to the bar. We were seated in the lounge like area all the way in the back by the bar. I thought it was the best place. Our server was nice. Reason for the 4 stars is the music. OMG, it is hard to find a place where they play GOOD old school music. This place on a saturday night(can’t speak for their other nights) had THEBEST music. I was trying to find the dj to thank him but he wasn’t by the booth. By old school, I mean they played Nas(If I rule the world), old school Jay Z, reggaeton, it was great! No one was actually dancing but my friend and I did :-) I would come back here on a Saturday night again. Oh, the drinks are pricey, but this is Soho.

My parents were in town recently visiting for the holidays. I recommended they stay at the Soho Grand for several reasons. The location is ideal, chic soho shops mere steps away, fantastic dining options galore and the hotel is located far away from the tourist trap that is Time Square. I met them for brunch in the bar/lounge area on a Saturday. The ambiance was divine and the food was delicious. I work with the public so I am a bit on a stickler when it comes to customer service. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the overall service and attention we received from the staff and the manager girl(I’m sorry I forget her name… something exotic, she was Moroccan) She was genuinely a lovely person and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We enjoyed the experience so much we came back for Sunday brunch too! She remembered us and even the details of our last conversation. It felt like we were old friends. After a night on the town we stopped in for a night cap.(Dad is whiskey consiour) The night bartender Nathan was on point! Not only were his cocktails delicious but he took the time to chat with us about what we liked then made excellent recommendations. I noticed he was extremely attentive and aware of all the customers at the bar. No empty glasses or waiting, even water glasses were constantly refilled. My parents who are well traveled were so impressed with the service they are telling everyone about their time here and are already planning their next visit. I had to give credit where credit is due. Thanks to the staff at the grand bar and lounge for an unforgettable experience. You sure know what you’re doing, other places could take a lesson from you.

The breakfast here is AMAZING! Really good food — and priced very reasonably. The Full English and the Full American are both super yum. Service is also very good. You won’t be disappointed!

My boyfriend and I stumbled across this hotel bar on the way home from midtown, and boy am I glad we did! The hotel itself is ultra-chic. The grand staircase is lit, and leads up to a bar and lounge with plush, oversized chairs and giant bird cages filled with indescribably ornate paper-mache birds. We nuzzled ourselves in to one of the over-sized chairs and were immediately greeted by a waitress. We enjoyed wine, cheese, and some really delicious cocktails for hours. This bar was the perfect place to spend our last night in New York City. I’d highly recommend coming here with a big group of friends(there is a more«clubby» room by the lounge) or a significant other.

This is a pretty nice lounge. They have a nice selection of whiskey(best I’ve seen in the city). There is also another room that sometimes has some cool parties on weekends. Fun place with lots of booze flowing and everyone in a happy mood.

A friend of mine was staying here so we decided to meet for drinks at the bar. If you love the whole speakeasy vibe, you will love it here. The hotel itself it unspeakably beautiful. The bar upstairs has great Prohibition style drinks, and it’s very open and inviting. We then went into the club room to have food and drinks, while listening to some live music. I literally died and went to Heaven. You truly feel like you’re in the movie Casablanca. There were pictures from the movie all over the walls, a piano in the back, comfy couches, a huge fireplace, and two people playing instruments with music from the 20s. We ordered the grilled octopus, quinoa, crab cakes, and sweet potato fries. I thought everything was great. My only complaint was the service. It took forever to get a drink. Either way, the ambiance is beautiful and enchanting to say the least.

Great whiskey selection, bar is well lit during the day and both the bar and the lounge have a ton of people with laptops open and working during the day so you actually feel productive while putting off work to put down some booze. Grilled cheese with roasted tomatoes, french fries is a nice cold day dish. It’s hard to call this a grilled cheese sandwich as there is 4x’s the amount of bread to the cheese(which almost feels like a cheesy-butter spread). Filling yes, the kind of gooey and greasy sandwich you crave, no. Butternut squash soup is a large portion and well seasoned. Nothing fancy or unexpected, just a good bowl of soup. Cobb salad with butter poached lobster is a let-down. The salad comes arranged like you’d expect to find in the to-go aisle at the grocery store. The lobster thrown on top feels like an afterthought. For what they’re charging, I was expecting something MUCH better.

I mean, its nice and fancy, but I wouldn’t say its $ 10 for a bottled beer fancy. My friend enjoyed her cast iron cocktail, worth the price if you’re a guest and get those drink tickets. There were like 4 hosts /hostesses standing around looking beautiful, but it still took them 10 minutes to tell us whether or not we could sit at a table if we wanted to just order drinks. All in all, it was okay, but there’s classier places to warrant spending your dough.

I’ve had dinner here twice in the past three months. I had a burger and I had the salmon. Both were very good. You won’t leave raving about what you ate, but you will be pleased. It’s simple, traditional food that’s prepared well and tastes good. The salmon was only 24 dollars, which is a fair price for the area. A glass of Macallan 12 costs 15 dollars. That’s all I ever order. So, I don’t know what the drinks are like. This is a fine place to grab a good dinner. It’s not a place that presents culinary masterpieces that will be discussed in foodie magazines, but it’s very good food. The service is exemplary. The ambiance is terrific. The Grand Bar is a nice mix of opulence and whimsy. It manages to be both posh and a little steampunk(the lights on the actual bar are naked low-lit bulbs encased in a glass box and there’s a big lithograph of Peter Sellers from Kubrick’s Lolita on the wall). The designer seems to have tactfully fused elements from the 20’s with contemporary. The only problem with the Soho Grand’s drinking and dining areas is that they are a bit small. They include two small studio apartment size bars connected by a long narrow corridor filled with sofas. Places like SoHo Grand are the closest you can get to an upscale night club without having to wait in line for entrance. Overall, the people range from 21 to 71(it’s a hotel). But the majority of people on the weekend are affluent trendsetters around 30. But there are always fortysomething couples on dates. On certain weeknights(at least in the past), there’s an up and coming DJ who draws all the 23 yr old hipsters from east of Bowery and Brooklyn.

We were originally going to go to Felix but instead walked over here as there was a large event going on there. There were 6 of us and we asked if we can sit at the couches instead of the tables. They happily obliged. Pricey drinks but what else do you expect? You see tall, leggy blondes, ladies in fur and one couple had three white, carefully groomed and ribboned Malteses barking up a storm but no one said anything to them. Our server was professional and gorgeous herself. Classy venue and a great place to grab a drink before dinner.

Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday on a Saturday night. This is a well decorated, classy venue. We were surrounded by beautiful tall people(sucks to be short?). My friend had reserved a space for everyone to sit and chat. The music mix ranged from ’00’s R&B to indie pop, to I don’t even remember, but it was good to sing along, dance, head bop, etc.

I had a really amazing first date here. So much so that it reminded me that all of this and these kind of places are to help people connect, and if they are lucky, in a special way. It didn’t hurt that the ambience was just perfect, exceeding my expectations and what they have on their website. This is really a hip dark cool lounge. The interior actually reminded me of Daniel the restaurant a little, but with music. It was laid-back and casual and really a perfect place for a first date. Comfy couches too with coffee tables. The only thing that really stuck out and didn’t make sense but I didn’t care was they have all these fake birds in decorative cages here amidst the couches and a DJ. That was a bit random, but then again, this is Manhattan. I ended up having a mint tea(my choices were lemon verbena and mint) in a tea pot, which came late and so they actually waived, and sweet potato meringue pie(yummy meringue which tasted like pumpkin pie a little). I think my date had three drinks. The waitresses wear cute black cocktail dresses with open backs and cute big bows covering their bottoms. The music wasn’t that great(they should work on that), but the connection between people the place enabled by being the perfect backdrop and setting, definitely made up for it.
