greenery is in short supply in most of the citaaaaay. having even the smallest opportunity to reconnect with nature in the concrete jungle is critical to keeping your sanity amidst the din and frenetic pacing of the various boroughs! thankfully that is not the case in Alphabet City because of the crop of community gardens like Gen X Cultural Gardens. the garden itself is fairly large. a large rectangular lot with tons of lush green grass and an abundance of plants and a fair amount of young trees. not sure if you can sit on the grass, but there are tons of seating options via benches. so you can either sit or lie in the shade or lay out in the sun. the garden itself seems pretty relaxed. you can probably bring in lunch etc. for a peaceful mid-day break. or just chill outside with friends and shoot the shizz. the garden itself is pretty immaculately kept by the various neighborhood volunteers. the garden also houses events occasionally from mixers centered around the arts to various philanthropic get-togethers. if you’re looking for a lil slice of peace and tranquility in the ABCs – you can’t go wrong here. though out of the way(which is the point), these lil gardens serve it up in terms of greenery. drops mic, so i can take a fiver in peace. i out. zzz
