The space is great. I went here on whim and don’t regret it. The gallery which is located in a super convenient part of Manhattan held a Graf show with young emerging artist.

It’s impossible to walk by Gallery Nine5 and not stop in! The exhibit they have going on right now(The Work of Michael Murphy) is very unique and attention-grabbing…definitely worth checking out! His use of tones and shades are amazing, I would love to have any of his pieces in my apartment! The gallery is super clean and I liked that it wasn’t cluttered with artworks. The lady working there was very nice and told us about a live performance that was happening at Washington Square Park. Unfortunately we were unable to go, but the exhibit is going on until October 6th so go check it out if you can!

As an artist and frequent gallery and museum attendee, my opinion is that Gallery Nine5 is one of the best galleries in the city. Like a little bit of Paris in NoLita, the gallery is always exciting, current and a great place to visit. The artwork is contemporary and fresh; the gallery owner, Sebastien, is charming with a strong aesthetic sense that leads to fabulous art on the walls. The gallery itself is downtown cool, without being cold. And, unlike one reviewer, I found the staff of the gallery to be friendly and helpful, without pushing an over the top sales pitch. When I want to see«real art» that’s exciting, or if I’m contemplating purchasing contemporary painting, sculpture and photography, the place I want to go is Gallery Nine5.

So I came to this gallery on Saturday afternoon to see the Alben exhibition. I was very off-put by the staff at this gallery. This review is in no way regarding Alben’s work… just the gallery. Alben’s art was absolutely amazing, The girls sitting behind the computers barely looked up at me let alone even greated my friend and I while viewing the exhibit. I am so sorry I disturbed your Facebook moment but maybe if you would have acknowledged me I may have considered purchasing a painting from your gallery rather than directly from the artist in Paris… then you could have afforded your very own computer to use on your own time. And btw… yes I am an art collector.
