«We make shopping fun again» reads the banner stretched across the back of this store. To my left, the most incomprehensibly jumbled pile of chairs, dressers, shelves, and broken nonsense stood stacked on top of a bookshelf that I had seen days ago as I was looking for some quality used goods to put in my new apartment. «Do you need help?» «Yes, but it’s under there!» as I pointed into the depths. «No problem!» Two guys leaped into the pile as I, wide-eyed, watched them toss things back and forth uncovering my $ 20 item in all of 3 minutes. They even carried it to my place down the road for me. (You can see this for yourself, actually: ) I got a NEW full-sized mattress for $ 75. Plus a bunch of other little dressers for $ 20 apiece. This is old, used stuff, and not special antiques(though I did see a few nice old pieces), but it’s mostly consumer grade goods. Still, if it comes down to buying a new particle-board dresser from K Mart for $ 60 or a used one of the same stature from here for $ 20, I think the answer is obvious.
