I was excited to try Fun Buns after seeing the long lines but I think this is just because of their prime location in midtown’s food truck alley. This was just mediocre and definitely no where as good as Bauhaus.

Tasty buns, tried 4 different ones. Sausage, Chicken, Beef and Pork. All good flavors, but damnit I’m still hungry as hell. If you’re a ‘heavy fork’ you’re gonna want like 8 of these and that’s prohibitively expensive.

Visited this cart on 48th Street between 6 and 7 Avenue. $ 3 for a bun? This ain’t Momofuku! Have you lost your mind? These should be $ 1.50 or $ 2 tops. I tried the braised pork belly one. It was all fat. Soggy fat. The taste of the bun and its condiments(with sriracha, hoisin, peanuts, cilantro) was tasty. I would like to try the other two before I write this cart off. Maybe I chose the wrong option. I noticed they have cans of Thai iced tea and chrysantheum tea for $ 2, and shrimp chips. I would need quite a few of these buns to fill me up for lunch. This is really a snack, not a meal. Also, more importantly… they have to pick up the pace. It took too long to get my one bun. There was a long line of folks who had ordered who were pissed off waiting for their lunch. They are only going to lose customers this way. The lady taking the orders was the slowest person in the city. And as I was waiting, I was watching the one guy inside assembling the buns(not cooking, assembling… come on!) and he was moving in slow motion. This is NYC. This just don’t cut it in the Big Apple. Pick up the pace yo!

I got the 3 bun combo here which comes with a drink and chips. Since I love shrimp crackers, I got the spicy shrimp crackers(probably the highlight of my meal here since its hard to just get this randomly in midtown east) I tried one of each bun, the chicken, beef and pork belly. I agree with Zack G. here that the pork belly bun is a bit too fatty and you don’t get a good mix of fat/meat when you bite into it. I also thought it was a bit bland for some reason. The chicken bun was better than the beef bun in my opinion. The beef bun that I got was a bit too dry and so kind of killed the bun unfortunately. I think they are only on 52nd/Park occassionly since I see them more at 46th btwn vanderbilt and park. 2.5 stars but rounding down because it wasn’t overly memorable given how many pork buns I’ve tried throughout NYC

Love this cart. Glad they are back. Got 3 buns for $ 9. One pork belly, one beef and a chicken. The pork belly is the star. Each bite a sheer delight. Beef was good but paled before the majesty of the pork belly. The chicken was a one and done. Next time 3 pork belly or a pork belly sandwich for 8 $. Very friendly people. On Facebook and twitter. Corner of 52nd and park.
