Flute Center of New York

I took my flute with low c not sounding right, Flute Center said they could fix it. When I received my flute back, the entire lower register did not produce any sound (I am a life-​long flute player, its the fiddle, not the fiddler).
In sum, this store charged me $ 125 upper west side dollars to break my flute. So, if you are interested in new instruments, please take your instruments in need of repair to this store (note sarcasm). Unhappy customer.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this shop! The owner, Phil, was so sincere and generous – I’ll never buy another flute/​piccolo/​etc. that isn’t from the Flute Center of New York. The shop is run with such honesty and integrity – never before have I experienced such exceptional customer service!
I came into the Flute Center wanting a second opinion on the costs of repairing a 10+ year old pre-​professional flute… and walked out with my old flute and two new flutes to try! Phil carefully examined my flute before determining that it would be more expensive to overhaul it than the flute was actually worth. Instead of trying to push for me to do the repairs at the Flute Center he told me what he thought the value of the flute was and that I could pay less money for a basic tune-​up at a general musical instruments store which would get my flute back into playing condition. He also let me know that while I did have the option of trying to sell my flute to the Flute Center the lower level model flute could sell for more money if I sold it using eBay, etc. After explaining that I could possibly purchase a new flute about the cost of the instrument overhaul I was considering, he had his staff help me try out about a dozen different models before I narrowed it down to two that I liked best. I was allowed to take *both* flutes home for a week trial so that I had plenty of time to make my decision. I brought both flutes back and was planning on having to leave them both at the shop until I was able to come back to buy the model I decided on but Phil worked out a flexible (and accomodating!) payment plan to help me purchase my very first Pearl flute. I love the flute and the Flute Center so much I’ll be going back to take lessons with one of their staff members (Julian). :)
