Horrifying. I cannot speak to his bedside manner or his abilities, but his policy of luring people in with the promise of service and then demanding 150 dollars cash up front for all service, that I can and do judge. There is no acceptable excuse and the office’s attempt at an excuse – «you know, problems with some clients and insurance» was, besides being classicist and condescending, particularly cruel for a working man who has taken time away from work to see you, unpaid time off.
They continued to say that, okay, they would do what they were obligated to and provide me with my free, annual physical… But that I would have to pay the 150 every single follow-​up visit. The woman seemed almost apologetic – maybe she understood what it’s like to be treated as a second class citizen – but I will be filing complaints with my provider and all of the websites I can find.
Shame on you.
Wish I could have one of those Pretty Woman moments and come back with insurance they respect and then give them some great monologue, denying them my money…
