Great Chinese bakery. Great selection of Chinese cakes and pastries. Located in the Gold City Supermarket shopping center. Convenient with plenty of parking.

It’s a self serve p bakery where you pick your prongs and tray and get to choose which baked buns or good you want. I get there around 730 am on some days and the baked goods are hot and fresh. Some of the buns are just being put out. I’ve bought buns at night and definitely a different taste of course. The ladies are chinese and can barely speak English. But they do understand simple English like tea with milk. My gripe would be the lady behind the counter picking her nose. Pretty gross. I know they pick up our food with the prongs we use but I rather they hold the nose picking to behind close doors. Definitely turned me off.

This is a smaller location, and didn’t have as big of a selection. The food available is still consistent with the other locations, at least for the char siu bao, egg custard, and hot dog bao.

Decent bakery right next to Golden City. Delectable sweets and yummy drinks. It isn’t necessarily clean, due to the«glimmering» Grade Pending sign on the door. Oh well. I love their freshly baked white bread, which adds flavor to my typical sandwich. Their sponge cakes are fluffy and rich, along with all of their other pastries. Great teas and drinks, despite the menu being a bit confusing.

Cakes light and fluffy, typical Chinese bakery– good. The box to bring cakes home was very pretty.

This Fay Da is good because: — it’s next to a supermarket — next to a laundromat — next to a bunch of restaurants(T&T for dumplings!) — there’s a parking lot(even though it’s always crowded) — and they make a good milk tea …but that is all. Don’t get anything else or you’ll be disappointed like all the other 1 – 3 star reviewers.

Ran in for Almond Milk Tea this morning. Was handed 3 Lemon Tea’s instead. When we said we ordered Almond Milk Tea the lady told us no, you said Lemon! Well ok then… I guess we were wrong…

I visited this location several months ago, first and last time. Why? Language barrier, BIG problem! I order green tea and you serve me some tea that smelled and tasted like cheap perfume, I order a VEGETARIAN bun… even point it out to you WRITTENINCHINESE, you bring me a PORK bun?! Thanks, but no thank you.

As with most bakeries in the area, Fay Da caters to the breakfast rush. In the morning when there’s high turnover, you can expect abundant trays of fresh, warm bread. If you want an afternoon snack or small treat after dinner, most of the shelves are left bare with only a few picked-over pastries. Compared to many other Flushing businesses, this bakery is fairly clean, well-lit, and welcoming(confirmed by the«A» health rating on the front door). The staff doesn’t have a good grasp of English, so prepare accordingly(especially if you go during breakfast rush-hour, when everyone is in short supply of patience). Aside from the usual fare, Fay Da boasts a few options that I can’t find elsewhere(or at least not made in the same way). For fans of savory breads(like myself), I recommend the pea and scallion twist, which is slightly buttery and offers a crisp, brown crust when fresh. My feelings are mixed on the tuna bun; while the presentation appeals to my aesthetic instincts(toasted breaded spun into a short tower), I don’t love the tuna filling(heavily seasoned with black pepper, but dry and slightly sour from the accompanying mayonnaise). A separate glass display case at the front counter also holds a variety of steamed buns; the fillings are flavorful, but meager in proportion to the bread.

The place convenient when you happen to do laundry next door. The breads & buns are pretty run of the mill stuff. Nothing fantastic to shout about and it ain’t bad at all. If you are into more value for money and the occasional hot bread, I suggest Carnation Bakery which is just a couple of minutes walk away. It’s cheaper and they have some pretty good buns.

My chestnut paste filled pastry was phenomenal. Sadly, I really wanted to order a smoothie with my breakfast, but it was a no go. I don’t know if that was due to a language barrier, snafu, or they just didn’t want to do it during breakfast rush. Tristesse, folks.

I just bought a bread filled with corn mayo and ham pieces. I usually have the tendency to wipe off some of the mayo because they put too much, but this time, found the meat to be spoiled… not a little bit… but quite obviously. I went back to tell them with the intent of courtesy to let them know because I work right above them. They claimed all their bread is fresh every morning, and it’s impossible to be spoiled. She did a little«experiment» in front of me and proclaimed the bread safe to be eaten… NO, I still had the spoiled meat taste in my mouth and I know what that bread is suppose to taste like from eating it about thrice a week. I didn’t want to make a scene so I walked away. I’m considering reporting them to the Sanitary Department. But first posting this to warn you all.

I took off a star because I don’t really care for the consistency of the Fay Da franchise’s cakes, eating one, in my opinion, is similar to eating a sponge. Everything else here is great. Their buns are really good and very inexpensive, and they have mastered every variation of puff pastry. I really enjoy the steamed buns, and beverages also. The weekday morning staff are very friendly, and very quick. And you really can’t beat the prices here.

Cheap pastries and cakes. Their buns are okay. I never liked any cakes made from China folks simply because they all suck and are filled with cream. After having pastries and buns in Taiwan, the ones from Fay Da are pretty awful. Their stuff taste so cheap and you don’t smell that amazing bakery smell like when you pass by Grimaldi’s bakery in Ridgewood. For me to really enjoy what a bakery makes, I gotta enjoy that awesome smell of baked goods, fresh coffee, and fresh bread. If it’s just the smell of a floor that’s never been mopped, I’m expecting a stomach ache after a bun.

I love the chicken puff and milk tea from fay da. The milk tea is a bit on the sweet side, but that’s usually how I like it. This is your typical Asian bakery. They have the buns and cakes on display. It’s located right next to the laundromat. So it’s quite convenient if you’re craving for a snack while doing laundry.
