Superb pizzeria-style pizza; the eggplant slice is my favorite. Sit-down restaurant pizza is still better but if you’re on the run, this place is as good as any if not better, of course.

I was with my buddy and we needed a quick bite. We stopped in and I had the white slice which was quite good. Real cheesy and gooey, it was a heavy slice. Plus it tasted better cause I didn’t have to pay my friend covered that. Seems like food does taste better when you don’t pay. I mean its only a slice but you cant put a price on kindness. Lol I would stop in for more in the future it seemed like a cool spot and service was real quick and kind.

Did Trump start some sort of misguided pizza eating trend? Over half the people here were eating their(regular, Neopolitan) slice with a fork and knife. Whyyyyyyyyyy? PICKITUPANDFOLDITFOOLS! Dip your mouth down to catch the slightly drooping tip and take a big delicious bite. It is a slice, not a Tenderloin. Seriously. This is pretty excellent pizza, not the best of NYC but pretty darn close. But don’t come here if you’re looking to drunkenly scarf it down in two seconds, cause this generous slice needs to be savored. Hot? check. Decent sauce? check. Perfect crust? check. Cheese? OHHELLYES. Chewy fresh mozz full of the kind of grease that’s good for you. Maybe they should put it in a capsule and sell it as a health supplement.

I loved the old Ray’s. This is close, but not the same. The recipe for the pizza is very close. The sauce maybe a little different, but overall very similar. The squares still have the onions and are excellent. The old Ray’s used to be open very late. This place closes at 10 which is ridiculous. Also, they took down the newspaper clipping of Nell Carter and the cast from Gimme a Break eating there. :( I eat low carb, so this place is great because there is enough cheese on the pizza to fill me up(as that is the only part I eat). I’m glad they did not turn Ray’s into a bank or Starbucks… i hate change.

I have been eating very healthy this year but still have a soft spot for great pizza and a burger from time to time. I love John’s on Bleeker. My favorite NY pizza. Walked by this place so many times that I figured I would give it a shot since they sell slices. John’s only has whole pies. Got a slice of cheese, no toppings. The way great pizza should be eaten. While I was satisfied, just wasn’t great. Very good, yes. No complaints. It hit the spot.

They’re back!!! I was so excited to try Famous Roio’s, and it met all my expectations! It is basically the same pizza that Famous Ray’s would serve before they closed in 2011(smooth sweet sauce, piles of cheese, soft NY-style crust), but more refined. The original owner from the 1970’s has returned, and it really shows. There is still a lot of cheese, but not TOO much anymore. The pepperoni is crispier. The crust is softer. So, these subtle differences make Famous Roio’s superior to Famous Ray’s. Welcome back guys.
