Yeah, rating this place anything more than one star would require ridiculous drunkenness and a beer-goggle doable crowd. Let’s just say I was FAR from drunk and would avoid most of the patrons after a comet wiped out all other human life. This place is basically a big, black walk-in closet that smells like someone spilled beer in it… like a month or more ago. Top that off with poorly-dressed, unattractive staff(which I could excuse with good service); one of whom served me a warmish Corona(for $ 7, no less, which I could also excuse if ANYTHING was good about this place) and my recommendation is that you avoid this place like the plague. THEPLAGUE. (fyi, this place also seems to be called Trip or is named Trip now? Regardless, my review applies as I was there last night.)

These are some harsh reviews. I had a fabulous time here, let me just say there is nothing like this in Boston. Drag queens pouring liquor down my throat? Yes, please. Male GoGo dancers with their junk hanging out? This part was interesting, I kept yelling«put that thing away!!!» all night, too much peen for me but some of the boys/girls were all over it. And those dancers WERE hot. DJ is good, crowd is diverse, anything goes and no one is judging. Also, the one cocktail I had was like 97% rum and 3% coke. Bathroom was pretty awful but that’s par for the course in a gay club. I would definitely hit it again.

I’ve been place twice. The first time was in summer of 2008 when it was called Vesta. The downstairs area is great space for dancing but has absolutely NO ventilation and is stuffy and smelly. The 2nd time I went was this past weekend for a friend’s birthday. Stood on line with 5 other people for 20mins. in 20 degree weather while the security«sorted out» a situation inside. Apparently a fight broke out between a few girls and it took their security almost half an hour to get it under control(tells you a lot about safety huh). They ended up shutting the party down at 12:45am and me and my group were left scrambling for last minute plans. Avoid this dump at all costs. It smells like vomit and feet in there ALL the time, the security is horrible and the crowd seems to be a bunch of degenerates with no class. I only gave it one star becuz the first time I went the music was good.

This is not an upscale, large or trendy spot at all, but if you want to have a group party at a good price where you don’t have to stress attire and rude bouncers… it’s the move. Me and bunch of friends w/January birthdays all got together and had our party here in the downstairs room. It was a good time. We got an open bar package for $ 45 per person-really not bad at all. I did have one friend that forgot to leave his hat in the car, but dude at the door was still cool enough to let him coat check it. Room was ok, no windows down there, but by the 4th drink I did not really care anyway. The bar down there was small, but good enough for us(45 – 50 people). DJ was OK-I’ve heard better, but I have also heard way worst. All in all we left drunk and smiling.

i came here on a thursday afterwork for $ 1 absolut and 25 cent wings. the place was still semi empty despite the good deals. the wings were decent but they were merely fried and not buffalo wings. the drinks were pretty good and cheap. the bartender was cute and we fell madly in love. now all i gotta do is try and talk to her. my problem with elevate is on their wknds. it draws a ghetto crowd and the music for the most part sucked. my highlight was when i saw a girl go on the stipper pole and fell off and busted her head. drunk stupid clumsy girls amuse me. the bouncers here should stop thinking this is a club and not give anyone a hassle at the door. don’t worry, once they go in, they’ll leave right away anyways.

Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect and looked down upon as me and my friends were tonight. We were told, by the party promoter and in an email, to be at the club by 10:00pm sharp. When we get there the bouncers are outside and told us we are not getting in. By this time it was roughly 10:15 or so and we explained that we were told to get there at 10, as rudely as they could the bouncers tell us that«the club opens when they feel like it». Upset we leave to go wait in a nearby Subways and as we are walking away they are yelling comments like we should walk away. We call the number that the promoter left in the voicemail and the supposed owner by the name of Johnny answers the phone and tells us the same thing that the bouncers tell us. I mean how could a business man be so rude? The owner even made a racial remark to my friend, he even told us he had no time to answer our questions. The bouncers are utterly and incredibly rude, and the worst part was the party promoter who, after calling us for days to confirm we were coming, tried to charge those under 21 $ 20 to get into the club. What I found ridiculous is that she knew the birthday girl was under 21 and never ever mentioned an admissions fee. We had our email which she sent and the party flier as proof that such information was never communicated to us. She even tells us to read the fine print and when she suppossedly tries to read it herself she cant find what she claims is there. Rudness and unprofessionalism cannot even describe the way this club runs business and after the way we were treated tonight there is no way I would let it go without letting them know of my distastefulness for the way they choose to practice.

My friends and I got there at around 11:45pm and the bouncers were holding the line of people outside till 12 so we would have to pay cover charge. wtf? Anyway, the bouncers really need to check their attitudes because one day someone is going to shoot them or hurt them. We made it into the club and I was just horrified with the bad taste in music. The male to female ratio was like 8:1, which works in my favor, but I already had my guy friend. ;D Otherwise, it was a really, really small club with two floors and the basement was basically where people didn’t want to dance and sat there. At one point, there were like 20 guys on one girl, but then there were also wanna be strippers on the tables and pole. I don’t think I’d ever come here again.

I have given out a few 1 stars in my previous posts, but after visiting Elevate the other night(a Saturday night), I will need to go back and give every other 1 star an additional star to stay ahead of Elevate. Where do I begin. The space itself is is horribly decorated. Incredibly tacky with a few college dorm looking decorations thrown up to cover up its barren walls. The night I visited, there was a $ 20 cover charge at the door(I have no idea how they have the nerve to charge money to come to this place), the crowd was a mix of asian B&T and the hip hop crowd, and the music was absolutely terrible. At one point there was a live performance by an «artist» who went on stage and basically sreamed nonsense for 25 minutes. There are two small disgusting bathrooms in the rear of the bar that smell like a chemical plant and the entire bar in general had a strange funk to it. On top of all of this, there was an annoying bar owner/manager that continued to harrass all of his patrons requesting them to buy drinks/bottles for his hostess girls. The only redeeming quality was that the bartenders and hostesses were cute, which is too bad b/c they will most likely need to find another job soon when this place goes out of business. Do yourself a favor, DONOTGOHERE.

For a no cover and open bar, it’s not a bad place to pre-party. But I don’t think I would do a full night event there, because it is kind of small and the crowds are usually there only because they know the owners. Music is alright. But I have heard Queen Latifah and some other celebrities have made appearances there. I would suggest for the venue to label themselves as a bar more than a dance club.

So Vesta gave itself a facelift and renamed itself Elevate. You’re not fooling anyone ex-Vesta! What a crapfest.

Party for New Year’s in NYC? Don’t go here! If Elevate makes it to next New Year, I’d die of shock. On its opening night New year’s 2009, they overbooked, overcharged and just basically sucked ass. No room to dance, no room to breathe… and for the $ 200 a pop tickets… I could have had a lot more fun in ANY Modesto bar… and that’s bad! Basically I had good time solely because I got drunk and felt like I looked pretty damn classy!(My attire, and those in my group was way too nice for this place!) Stay away!

AWFUL! This place is a hole-in-the-wall. I went here on NYE and thankfully I had my friends and boyfriend with me or else the night would have been terrible. There are two bathroom stalls in the entire place so you end up spending the majority of your night in line. It was a huge waste of money and I will not be back. They should have tore down the place instead of renovating it.
