Usually a good place to eat. However I don’t understand how a business will offer delivery but not deliver within a 10 block radius. Especially considering my apartment is located on the same avenue but not street number. DO better El Presidente! Disappointed!

So I decided to try this place out for the first time, it was my sisters birthday and she wanted a place close by to drink. Went in and we were not greated at all and it seemed like everyone that worked there were having their own personal conversation within themselfs to attend us so we decided to sit ourself at the bar, which took the bartender about 5 minutes to realize we were there. When he noticed we were there he seemed annoyed by the fact and came and gave us menus in which we said we just want to order some drinks. We told him what we wanted gave in our ID’S and a card and he went and spoke to one of the employees and came back and told us they don’t take card. I don’t recommend anyone going to this place, very bad service

Will not come back!!! Asked for a Cubano with Natural OJ. Cubano was disgusting. I asked for a Cubanowith everything in it. There was no garlic nor pickles in it. Garlic and pickles is a huge staple in a Cubano. NATURALOJ??? It was ice with a liquid that looked like orange juice and tasted like carrots on the watery side. Don’t know about the other foods they have, but Cubans and OJ’s are not their best. Service was better than food although one of the waiters argued with me that OJ calls for ice.

The staff is very rude. They argue with the customers and speak bad about customers in Spanish thinking that I didn’t speak Spanish oh and I was overcharged for a chicken sandwich which I thought included lettuce and tomato but I was charged $ 3 extra for all that. The food is okay but honestly the service just turns the whole experience off. I wouldn’t recommend it or come here again!

This was probably the worst Dominican place I’ve ever been. The waiter didn’t understand English and it was FREEZING! they didn’t have NO heat on and it is 30° outside! the food taste like dog food and had no flavor! This restaurant is completely unprofessional. They didn’t have the name on the menu and didn’t even have trays to carry the food! The waiter could only hold two things at a time and it took FOREVER to bring all the food out. Also took them about an hour to just cook the food! This was horrible no wonder why nobody was in there

I usually come in the morning but tonight I decided to try it for dinner; quarter chicken w rice and beans … It was good, prepared quickly. Just a little too salty . However when I arrived, I sat at the bar because I wanted a drink before my food. So I tell the waitress but she tells me to «sit at a table .» Then I ask for a drink menu at the table and she tells me «no Mami» and I ask if the bar was closed and she said«no» so I realize that she’s assuming I am UNDER21(I am 21) and won’t serve me alcohol. She didn’t even ask for my ID ! She just refused to serve me alcohol 3 times. I had to make her look at my ID. Ontop of that, all she would serve me was beer ! She said«all you can have is beer» which made no sense. Just because I look young doesn’t mean that it’s okay to serve me «light drinks» I’m a grown up so I didn’t appreciate her telling me that all I could have was beer . All of the staffs attitudes suck. i will only go there again if it’s late at night and there is no other restaurant open. Besides that, I’ll pass.

The food at El Presidente is AMAZING. The restaurant is cozy, and they have something on the menu for everyone to enjoy! I have come in here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All three have delighted my taste buds. Many people who work at the Hospital across the stress flock there for breakfast and lunch time. You can see a sea of blue and green scrubs :). At breakfast/lunch time during the workweek, they have a delicious buffet, where you can get what your heart desires. This restaurant is a MUCH better alternative than the local fast food joints if you are waiting for a family member in the hospital and need to refuel on delicious food and drinks(from lemonade to coffee to beer to wine). The restaurant also has a TV in every corner, so if there is a game you want to watch, you can watch it there! I would recommend the rice and beans, lemon chicken and a side of tostones. Even add a limeanade on time of it :) Space for dessert? Try the Tres Leches! The prices and portions are generous. :) The food is MOSTDEFINITELY worth the visit.

Wish I could review the food but the waitresses were really rude. I walked in and they saw me but refused to acknowledge me. No smile or anything. I walked down to where they were all sitting and asked for empanadas. Without making eye contact one of them said«no no». They completely ignored me afterwards. It was really disheartening. I love Dominican food but I’ll never step foot in that place ever again. No chicken and rice is ever worth that kind of humiliation.

The food is good however, the service is horrible. They wouldn’t deliver my food that was already payed to my house which was six blocks away. I had called they told me that no delivery guy wanted to bring my food and The Food was delivered hour and forty minutes after. I had asked them to speak with a manager or supervisor and they said that didn’t have one at the moment. Highly disappointed The food is good but the service just would not make me want to eat from there anymore!

Chicken, rice, beans = well-done and it’s QUICK. Five minutes. It’s possible to sit down, eat it up, and then get back to work in 30 minutes. Complaints about oily food are true. Hope they switch to extra virgin olive oil from canola or whatever it is they’re using. Or just die down the oil a little. This isn’t a really detailed review because what more is there to say? Solid fries and plaintains(sp), plus your pick of sports on a number of well-located TV sets all over. I’ll definitely be coming here when the NBA season gets in full swing.

Food is oily and service is appalling. Aesthetics A1. Have been a customer since finding them in their infancy in Playa Del Carmen — but the lackadaisical New York service doesn’t suit them.

I used to come here all the time for the lunch specials. The service was not good, but I came often with some of my co-workers. After not coming back for a long time, I decided to try it out again, but the service was beyond bad. We came in and seated ourselves because there was no one to serve us. Eventually, the waitress came, but didn’t speak one word of English. She also seem to have a bad day and appears to be giving us attitude; she didn’t seem to want to deal with us and it looked like she was telling us to leave silently. And so we did, after trying to order our food. I would never come back to this place again. There are plenty of Latin/Dominican restaurants in this neighborhood.

Used to be better a few years ago. Came in for lunch and not crowded at all. I waited about 25 min for roasted chicken with a side of veggies… Chicken breast was pretty dry. Veggies meh… I won’t be back

I am not sure how to review this place — I have mixed feelings about it. Part of me loves it – it’s a real neighborhood gem with a character. It’s a Dominical place, open 24 hours. They have great lunch specials($ 3 mini-lunch to go is unbeatable and their regular $ 5.95 lunch is a great deal as well). I wouldn’t say it’s the healthiest food — wouldn’t eat it every day, but it’s delicious and $ 3? What more can you say… At night the place turns into either a quiet restaurant or on nights when they have live music — more into a loud restaurant/night club with great bachata, salsa, and merengue. I love seeing people of all generations dressed up, dancing, having fun. The service is inconsistent, it can be very slow, but that’s just how it is and I got used to it. To be fair service is usually friendly — there have been several exceptions — I guess everyone has a bad day. Knowing even a little Spanish certainly helps but you can always point to things if that’s not the case. What I find really disappointing about this place though is that many servers often cheat in small ways that is simply dishonest and often they OVERCHARGE. Shamelessly so. I have had this happen at least on three separate occasions — instead of advertised prices they charged me more or charge you for the bottled water instead of just giving you a regular glass. It’s loud, people are tipsy, it’s dark — I guess they often get away with it, but it kills the mood for me. They really need to fix this and treat customers little more honestly and little less like fat wallets.

I loved this place when I lived in Washington Heights. There was a language barrier but I know a tiny bit of Spanish and I had Google translate! I always get good service here. Even one time I didn’t come back for a while, and the server told me she missed me:) Food is always good and cheap. It’s a Dominican staple that should never leave Washington Heights!

I had the french toast with bacon and a sangria after a long night at work. I prefer it made with Challah bread, but this was a typical thin slice. The bacon was decent and the red wine sangria was good & fairly strong which was what I liked. Service however was really slow! It was a party of 3 of us and 2 of us ordered the french toast while the third person ordered a typical dominican breakfast… how that took almost an hour with only a total of about 8 patrons in the restaurant was beyond me. Also, not many of the servers speak English well but luckily for us, my friend spoke Spanish so that helped. Never again.

I usually eat this every day for lunch. I go to the buffet section. A pound of food is about $ 6. The grilled chicken and salmon are my go to dishes. The roasted potatoes are really good and the steam veggies are always fresh. The two ladies at the register are really nice and welcoming. I’ve never stayed to eat there although there is a sitting area, but I’ll recommend the buffet. It’s open from 11 – 5 on weekdays.
