Let me start by saying Adam, the emcee from Friday night was amazing. He could’ve done the whole set and I would’ve been happy! The bouncer was a bit rude, but I guess that’s the be expected when you deal with crowds all night. The show started late, which meant we had to stand outside waiting for 30 minutes! The wine was terrible, and service off to a slow start. But the servers were nice. Atmosphere was meh, a bit gross. Even though I laughed at most he comics, I much prefer Comedy Cellar.

I’d like to start this out by saying that the comedians were fantastic; other than that, the whole experience was Twilight Zone-level weird. My friend and I arrived around 6:50 for a 7pm show and when the hostess led us into the 85% empty performance room, she told us to sit«on that wooden bench» pointing to the most uncomfortable seats in the back of the room(everyone else was clustered near the stage). I thought this was strange but figured there must be a some reasoning behind it. And as we later found out… Nope, no reasoning. When the show started we were awkwardly sitting in the far back corner of the room, and one of the comedians even mentioned it and said something to the effect of «why are you guys all the way out there? Are you waiting for a different show?» After that, we moved our seats up. There is a two drink minimum and the drink menu is substandard(side note: this is a comedy club and not Milk & Honey, so no disappointments there). That said, I wanted a drink that was as neutral as possible so I ordered a Grey Goose with soda and lime. It came out stronger than I expected which was a pleasant surprise and I placed a second order with the waitress around the middle of the show. Anddd, this is when things started getting really weird: She brought out a drink which was definitely not a vodka soda. It MIGHT have been a vodka with tonic water, or a vodka soda with some sort of sickly sweet mixer thrown in. Just definitely not a vodka soda. I didn’t see this as a big deal and politely informed her that my drink order might have gotten mixed up. To that she got pretty defensive and said«Ummm…I made you a vodka soda.» Unsure about how to tactfully respond to that I said something along the lines of «Hmmm…Weird because I don’t think that’s what’s in this glass». She was visibly unhappy about it but she took the drink off the table and said she’d make me a new one. I thanked her. She came out a few minutes later with the same exact sickly sweet non-vodka soda concoction. To make sure I wasn’t loosing my mind, I asked my friend to taste it. My friend took a sip and said«Eww! What the hell is that? It’s so sweet.» I walked my drink to the bar and told her(as politely as I could) that this was not a vodka soda either. She responding by rolling her eyes and once again persisting: «Um, yes it is. I made it.»(me: «Yeah…Uh…Well, I tasted it») After a bit more of this ridiculous back-and-forth, she finally made me the correct drink. The bouncer even came to her defense and said«if she said she made you something, that’s what she made you». Uhh, thanks for clarifying buddy. Anyway, definitely sticking with Comedy Cellar from now on.

Above all, get on their mailing list, as they frequently offer free tickets. They get many top comics, either listed on the schedule – Garafalo and Friedlander are regulars – or as drop ins – Gaffigan. Conversely, much more than any other comedy club in my very extensive experience, the listed performers do not show up(sometimes this is the comic’s fault, as they took a different gig at the last minute). You will likely still see a very good show, but if your heart is set on seeing a particular comic, check the comic’s Facebook or website schedule. Lots of very good, very inexpensive restaurants nearby – Cacio e vino; Mighty Quinn; and many, many more of every variety. 2 drink minimum.

Small club but the staff is friendly and the drinks are reasonably(for a comedy club) priced.

Came here on a Friday for the 9pm show. Ambiance: Place is pretty small and if you are in a party of two and don’t get there early enough you will be stuck with the seats against the wall; super tight. The crowd range from local college students, to tourists to a few locals. Drinks: As with most comedy clubs there is a two minimum drink per person. Price ranges from $ 6 – 10. Comedians: The host was pretty funny. Jeanine Garofalo was the next act and she was not funny at all! She does look great for 50 years old though. The next act was a Latin guy and he was funny too. The last guy was funny but not someone who would be the closing act. I think their closing act didn’t show. Either way, not sure if I would go out of my way to return.

Came here on a Thursday night after a long week of work. The space is a little hard to spot, down the stairs, However the eastville comedy club really knows how to book its comedians. The night was filled with laughs, as the comedians gave us 2 hours of jokes. There isnt much selection on drinks or food and there is a required 2 drink minimum.

Really what more can you ask for in a comedy club? We’ve been coming to eastville for years. Essentially anytime we’re going to dinner in the east village we go to eastville. They have good comics(most are people you’ve seen on comedy central), a chill atmosphere and aren’t crazy strict. Other than the two drink minimum there’s really no rules. I suggest getting PBR’s if you’re trying to do the night cheaply at $ 5 each they’re the same price as a soda but give you a buzz. Everyone who has been there before gets free tickets to shows basically every weekend — you can even sign up for a show 15 minutes before and still get free tickets. For $ 10 worth of PBR for 1.5−2 hours of laughs you literally won’t find a better deal in the east village.

3.5 stars. Came here on a Friday night for the 11 pm showing. The space is decently sized. A line formed pretty immediately at around 10:45 pm(probably worth making a reservation beforehand, which is what we did). About half of the comedians were good but the other half were not so good, so I would say it was a hit or miss show. The two drink minimum requirement is kind of annoying, but prices are okay and the drinks are pretty good!

Amazing comedians! Only real negative is the two drink minimum with a limited menu. Overall had a wonderful time!

What more can you expect from a basement spot like Eastville? They aren’t trying to be super classy or exclusive, so you can fault them for embracing what they are. I’ve been here a dozen times. If you get on their mailing list, you receive emails of free tickets almost weekly, just need to cover the drinks. Pretty cheap drinks for NYC standards, and the comics have always provided the intended amusement. All in all, its a no frills good time.

There are a fantastic comedians and I had a lot of fun. But you have to make sure you get here at least half hour before the show time. There was a pretty long line up. But waitress was terrible(only her not everyone). It really pissed me off when I asked her for my drinks(I’ve been waiting for 45 mins already) and she made me feel like I was being rude! She didn’t have a service mind at all! And I have to asked(again) for my popcorn! So almost 1.30 hours there I got my popcorn 10 mins before the show end!

I came here for the first time this Friday. Although the line was long, we were let in in a smooth, not annoying manner. I personally feel that the place was a bit too full for the space, considering that ppl had to continually readjust their saying positions to accommodate others being sat. The comedians were all funny. Of course, with stand up, everyone is going to have a different take on the content, but, I did enjoy all of the comedians. The drinks were not diluted or tasted watered down… and the waitresses were speedy and phenomenal with their service. Overall. I would definitely visit again.

i’ve been to several comedy clubs, mostly through groupon, but this was my favorite! I went with a group for the 9pm show. There is a two drink minimum so prepare for that but the service was great, the comedians were great! IT was all underground and gave that real feel of being in a comedy club. Janeane Garofalo was there and was pretty bad but it was cool to see her and everyone else was great. I know some people say the comedians scheduled sometimes aren’t’ the ones who come but ours was right on point. A really great date night or girls night!

The MC was funny and one comic was hilarious. It was about par for a comedy club. What gets me are the prices for drinks at comedy clubs. If tickets were free I’d understand, but $ 12 for a jack and coke is outrageous.

Eastville and Comedy Cellar are my two go-tos in the city, having been to each around 15 times. I really love them both, and while Comedy Cellar is the famous one, I’ve definitely had some of my favorite nights here. It is usually pretty consistent and while janeane garofalo is always there and not very good, everyone after her is hysterical. I’ve seen some really, really funny comics here and had Jim Gaffigan drop in for a show. Using the Unilocal deal or email list, it can end up being a pretty cheap night relatively. I spent $ 43 last night for two people. I definitely suggest getting there at 8:30 or even before if you want a good spot. It’s a great pregame spot, and while it’s divey as hell, it adds some good charm. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

This was my first comedy club experience, and it did not disappoint. The staff got us seated quickly and were attentive when it came time to order drinks. Yes, there is a 2 drink minimum, but that is pretty standard. It is also a little divey, but then again, it is a east village comedy club(what are you expecting?) The comedians were so so funny, and kept us in stitches for the full show. Check the roster ahead of time — you might be pleasantly surprised at who you might find performing that day!

I LOVE this place. Here’s what I think it boils down to for me. I could go out for drinks on a weekend night with my husband anywhere and spend $ 30 – 60 and have the same conversations we have every day(work, family, etc.) OR we could go to Eastville Comedy Club, spend the same money or less, usually around $ 30 – 40(a decently priced bucket of domestic beers is something like $ 30), AND be entertained(by someone else)! I think this is such an excellent value, and we always leave happy. I don’t think many people actually pay the cover. They offer a million ways to get in free, including Unilocal check-ins, email promotions(I «win» four free tickets every week), and by mentioning when you make your reservation(which by the way, I strongly recommend doing). There are probably additional ways to score free tickets I’m unaware of, too. They do enforce a two-drink minimum per person(I believe even the inexpensive, non-alcoholic beverages count), and the bucket of beer(five beers) counts for only two people, and I think the drink prices are totally average and fair(not exorbitant, even though this is their main source of revenue). Tip: Drinks purchased at the bar before the show do NOT count toward your two-drink minimum. And a word on service: They’re very efficient, and I’ve never had any mistakes. My husband warned me before my first visit that it was«divey,» but I think«no frills» would be a better description. And who cares? Comedy clubs are dark, and I’ve heard some comedians take some pretty funny cracks at the«décor.» All of the comedians I have seen here have made me laugh, some to the point of tears. Solid place to start or end your evening, and now writing this I realize it’s been about six weeks since my last visit, and I need to remedy that asap.

Good comics the night I went. Venue looks like a run down veteran bar. But I guess that is standard for comedy clubs in NY. The waitress lacked character, she was slow and rude. She ruined the show for me as she berated the woman near me that was only halfway through her 1st drink with only 1 comic left to go on, stating the 2 drink minimum policy and for her to order another… They were fed up and just left. Got my bill and an 18% gratuity automatically included! The funniest joke all night was the service.

What a great night ! Got to see great comedians like Jim Gaffigan, Ben Bailey, Damon Waynes, Judah Friedlander & more. Eastville Comedy Club is a great friday night out to laugh and have fun. Drinks were over priced everything was $ 5 and up but what can you expect? Plus there was a two drink minimum. Waitresses & host were nice. Came a little late so we got the table in the corner but still got a decent view. Small place but great entertainment & awesome upbeat vibe, definitely worth coming to, had a great night!

As everybody else has mentioned, the venue itself is kinda danky and small… the table setup is also pretty bad as the majority of the seats are on the sides of the stage(meaning you have to crane your neck and watch over people’s heads to look at the comedian). There is a 2 drink minimum, and the cheapest beer is the PBR($ 5…I’d like to mention that on the menu it says«Pabst PBR» so maybe it was double Pabst-ed?). As for the comedians, they were awesome/hilarious. Judah Friedlander cracked me up… too chill for school. They joked about the décor in the place, which I liked as it was totally true.
