Riding in a helicopter has been on my long bucket list to do for a while and I was blessed to be able to do it for free. wooo hoo. I won this contest for a 1 way helicopter ride to East Hampton for two people which I later learned was like $ 1,000 if we were paying for it. Like I said I was blessed because I couldn’t afford that for a 45 minute helicopter ride on my own. I happily paid my $ 17 on the Long Island Railroad to return home, LOL. Now this was Memorial weekend on a Friday and the heliport was quite crowded. There were several groups of families and some young teenagers waiting on helicopters I guess. I’m like where are these young kids getting the money to fly to the Hamptons and I work full time and couldn’t afford that ride. I didn’t stay at the heliport long because our pilot was on time and we were out. There were about 4 or 5 helicopters on the tarmac if that’s what it’s called. Our helicopter was small, red and shiny. I was so freaking excited because I LOVE a little adventure. However, after the initial excitement wore off and you get used to those gorgeous views I felt like okay is this it. LOL it was a smooth ride no bumps, turns or tricks. The pilot had on headphones and I now I understand why because the noise was very loud. I was surprised we didn’t get headphones for our trip. The views from the sky were stunning and serene. The closer we got to the Hamptons we saw these huge houses with pools. The landing was smooth and it was a great first experience that I wouldn’t have any problems doing again.
