Best ²⁴⁄₇ store around! There is way way way too much candy at the register, but I guess they are a 24hr store.
On my last visit there was a display of both Trojan condoms and pregnancy tests right next to each other at the checkout. I thought this was surprising and made for a rather interesting conversation.
I always leave this place smiling for one reason or another. Satified customer w no complaints

This is the best Walgreens/​Duane Reade I have been to. One of the pharmacy techs is incredibly nice and he also greets me by name. I’ve never had that at any other pharmacy. Whenever I’m in the store, at least one person asks if they can help me find something. They have even offered to get something for me while I was in line.
I will continue to use this DR because of how nice they are. I have closer/​more convenient by my work, but I’ll stick with this one.
Also, my prescriptions are always ready super-​fast.

Although this store was recently renovated, I can’t say that it was for the better. The renovations caused the aisles to be narrower, and the store layout to be disorganized. On top of that, some of the shelves in the back of the store, where the frozen/​cold drinks section is, are not even stocked, so I honestly do not understand why they even bothered. It’s almost like they just squeezed the aisles in to make room for empty shelves.
The staff is so-​so. Golden, who works in the mornings, is amazing! She’s very personable, and really knows her customers; while the others always make me feel that they would rather be somewhere else, or worse, they’re doing me a favor by working the register. It is almost impossible to find an associate on the floor, and most times I have had to go up and down the aisles, just to find one who could help me locate something.
I have not had any reason to go to the pharmacy for a while, but when I did in the past (pre-​renovations), the pharmacist was helpful and knowledgable, so no complaints there.
With some of the DR’s being renovated all over the city, please be advised that because this is a small store, and is located below a residential building, they did not have the luxury of being expanded into two floors, hence the limited options. They do not have a huge cosmetics/​shampoo section which you would normally find in the 34^th or 42^nd Street locations. Also, if you are to stop in earlier in the day, the entrance on the corner of 86^th and 1^st would be your best bet, as the handicapped entrance in the middle of the block, is not always open.
Overall, this store reminds me of a souped-​up 7 – 11 — minus the slurpee, big gulp machines, and prepared food — but with a few additions, and slightly lower prices. Check out their sale section once in a while, and you might find something cool.

DO NOT use this DR photo center! The staff members were rude and instead of apologizing for not printing my photos they ignored me and asked another customer to step in front of me so they could «help» them. I waited 10 minutes before deciding to get pushy about asking what was going on with my photo order. They asked me to come back in 30 min and said they would have my prints then. (While I waited the same thing happened to two other customers). When I returned my photos were not ready. They were short with me, not apologetic at all, and told me the order would have to be resubmitted. Then they asked someone else to step up to the front of the line.

This location is clean and well stocked but the bar has been raised pre-​tty high by the location on 8^th Ave and 17^th St … take notes, Duane Reade of 86^th St … 8^th Ave location knows what’s up

This pharmacy has to be THE WORST pharmacy I have ever visited. Every time I have gone (5 times in total) they have screwed up my prescription, «lost» my information in the system, tried to give me the wrong medication, not contacted me when my prescription need a doctor’s consent and so many other issues. I have had it with them and will NEVER be going back there. The pharmacy employees are so incompetent, it is unbelievable to me that they are allowed to work there. As I was waiting, another woman came in asking to speak to the manager because of bad service. STAY AWAY — THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS.
