Glad I tried this place and found Roberto H., who is almost always at his chair, second closest to the door. Roberto does an exceptionally fine job on my hair every time. Although it’s a mostly Latino clientele, Roberto is not exclusively an ethnic barber. But his background with the precision Latino cuts common in our hood allows him to take his time and carefully get every detail polished. He has mastered my hair with a perfect cut when other barbers fail — they just don’t get it even after repeated tries. He can vary the length if I want with just the right look each time. I fired my cheap Midtown barber after being far too patient, even when he argued with me, and blamed my styling technique, my hair product choices, and cowlicks. The last straw was a butcher job that was glaringly conspicuous in an important promotional video(I am a performing artist). Ruined my whole look. Roberto’s work always gets rave reviews from every woman I know(ok, I have amazing hair to begin with), and brings out its unique beauty. I can’t think of any reason to ever switch barbers, and any time I have a show, an interview, or a photo shoot, he will do my hair. He’ll get credit for my hair in any promotional media. Thanks, Roberto! (I do wish Don Niko’s Wi-Fi, which they advertise as free, was available when I request to login. It’s a minor thing, but if you promise it, make sure your staff has the password when customers ask.)

Very happy with my haircut and this barbershop. Considering I was asking for an unusual shaved haircut on women’s hair, I was surprised they would be accommodating, and, then, additionally surprised when they didn’t charge me extra. Will recommend, will return – if they don’t mind ;)

I’ve been going here for a minute now and I’ve always had a good hair cut. Jaiver listens to what I want and need and gets it done. It’s a good atmosphere every one is friendly. I find it a great place to get a shape up and cut.

I came here to get a trim and clean up my beard. I believe the gentleman I saw was Steven, and I really want to give a better rating than two stars — for what it’s worth I teetered back and forth between 2 – 3 stars. It was my first time here, walking in I noticed Steven had a beard so I figured he would be my best shot. Steven seems like a very nice guy, and if I were rating personality and likeability I would probably give him 5 stars. Unfortunately, I have to consider all factors here, so I will break it all down for you: PROs: + Nice guy + Nice clean looking shop + Seems to be a neighborhood staple for many locals + Very much like the movie Barber Shop with a bunch of guys sitting around drinking and BS’ing for who-knows-how-many-hours and getting into arguments over music, women, food, etc + Lined me up well + Cheap CONs: — I don’t know if all of them do, but Steven apparently has some kind of industrial heat gun that *literally* evaporates water instantaneously; unfortunately this also gave me actual first-degree burns all along my neck(he used it on my beard… many times). You can actually watch within 1 second the water turning to steam and dissipating. It is just too freaking powerful and unnecessary — He accidentally stabbed me with the scissors. Accidents happen, so I can forgive this and would have put in the neutral section but I believe it was because he was paying attention to a conversation he was having with someone else — He lined me up north of my chin line but did not shave my neck which I thought was odd and did not notice until I got home and did it myself NEURTRAL: -/+ Loud music, I don’t mind but some may -/+ The guys who are hanging out here(including staff) use profane, often degrading music toward women, and pretty much everything else. However they are courteous. They just seem to be BS’ing but it does not create a very family-oriented environment I probably would not come here again, unless I REALLY, REALLY needed a cut ASAP and was NOT having them touch my beard. Skip it if at all possible is my best advice to you, friends. And I feel bad saying that because they seem really nice and it does seem like a «guy’s hangout» kind of place.

Really enjoyed the experience, very clean and hard working crew, Steven did a great job really made sure my hair was as natural as possible even with getting a fade. Meaning not too dramatic with lining up. If your looking for the business classic look this is where you want to go and ask for Steven.

Let’s get right down to it: for $ 15 you’re getting a $ 7 Lemon Tree haircut. You’re getting a young 20-something year old to cut your hair, leaving you with uneven sideburns, and even worse… an uneven top. My head looks crooked after getting a haircut from this place. My previous barber on Long Island was a 72 year old Italian man who, for $ 12, could cut hair better than anybody. But he knew he was selling a product at high value. These guys are grossly overcharging for a mediocre haircut. Unless you have a mohawk or very little hair, I’d recommend you be risk averse and find a better barber. That being said, the guy who cut my hair did work relatively quickly, so I wasn’t sitting there for more than 10 min. But when I walked in, he looked up at me from the chair he was sitting in and didn’t say a peep. I get it — I’m here for a haircut, not to make friends, but a «Hello» would’ve been better than a blank stare. The same thing happened when he was done, he just took off the gown and started putting his things away. Didn’t ask if I was happy with the cut, if I wanted anything adjusted, didn’t show me the back cut to see if I wanted it different or not, etc… and I asked for a fade on both the sides and back, and I got neither. Unfortunately, I did not get what I paid for. I don’t expect to see this place around for much longer unless they bring some real barbers(grown men, not boys) to the shop and make it more sociable.
