I know this is my third review on Domus … But seriously how can you not love it ?!? My last review was in 2010 so 5 years on it needs another glowing review! I have recommended so many people here and I have never had a complaint … Oh wait maybe I have — they complain that they now spend every penny they have in this beautiful store :) It’s a fabulous time of year to visit around the holidays. The tree ornaments alone are worth a look never mind all the other unique gifts on offer to suit everyone’s budget. Anyway as said in all my other reviews on Domus — they are fantastic and I challenge you to find a better more unique store in the city !!!

Came here to get some boxes of holiday cards that were more funky than you would find at Papyrus. I was able to do that and not pay a small fortune for them — so win/win. They also have a ton of cute little gifts. I didn’t know this place existed until today, which is kind of a shame because apparently it’s been around 13 years. Also, the staff is super friendly. Will be back.

I just love Domus. The jewelry selection is unique, well made and stylish! I buy gifts here throughout the year– and especially during the holidays. The prices are really reasonable and the best part is that Luisa and Nicki are so kind and helpful. I feel so welcomed every time I shop here. A gem!

This is a wonderful store that has an ever changing inventory of items from around the world. The owners, Luisa and Nicki, have great taste and travel annually so their inventory is broad. They are also willing to place special orders and will advise you when a particular vendor has new items if you request it. Domus is particularly fantastic before the holidays. A lovely shopping experience that never disappoints!

I love this place. There is always something interesting to discover and the owners are so nice to chat with. They really don’t seem to mind browsing. It is the kind of place that seems few and far between in today’s New York. I always bring visitors here when in Hell’s Kitchen. I hope they are around for a very long time!

Great selection. Fantastic owners. A neighborhood gem. So many interesting items packed into this store that you need to circulate through a few times to see everything.

This locally-owned emporium of globally-sourced artisan wares is beyond fantastic. Whenever I have been in a quandary about finding that perfect something for that special somebody, I have headed to Domus and with the help and insights of the creative and delightful owners, Luisa and Nicki, i have found that perfect and unique gift. Jewellery, decorative glass-blown dishes, candle holders, rich-toned lacquered bamboo bowls, pillows, throws, oil drum sculptures — it is a treasure trove of well-priced and gorgeous items. Each January Luisa and Nicki close up shop and visit a far-flung land to source artisanal wares and it is with great anticipation that we wait for the store to re-open in February to see the results of their trip… and just in time for a Valentine’s Day purchase for that heart of your life. I highly recommend a visit to Domus any time of the year but the store is especially magical at holiday time with all the myriad of tree ornaments hanging from the branch sculpture! Enjoy!

The window display of this store sucked me in from across the street. Boy am I glad it did! The store itself is not large but every nook and cranny is artfully filled with something fabulous. Apparently Luisa & Nicki close the store and spend a month each year travelling around the world to gather the goods they select for the store. I guess the best way to describe what they have is to say that it is everything that you never knew you wanted and is the perfect place to buy for someone difficult to buy for(predominantly female) because the merchandise is quite unique. I might add that I thought that their prices were also quite reasonable. I left with 2 gifts that they offered to gift wrap free of charge and a «gift» for myself.

This is one of my favorite places to shop in NYC. The owners travel the world to bring back wonderful handmade pieces. They also support local artists by selling and sometimes hosting a viewing of their work. It is a small, charming shop filled with so many interesting things. If you need a last minute gift, you will always find something here and the cards are great too. Every time I go in to buy a gift, I always«gift» myself as well!

I was looking for somewhere to buy a gift for a close friend and this was the perfect place to go. I spent awhile looking through the witty greeting cards and even longer searching through the many unique and interesting items this shop had to offer. When I finally found the perfect gift, the woman working at the store explained the significance of a group of bracelets I had selected, handcrafted in Guatemala and improving the lives of the workers drastically. She was so kind and this store is terrific!

I don’t know – am I missing something about the magic of this place? It’s a perfectly nice gift store, but not what I was expecting after the rave reviews. It’s a small-ish space, and one entire wall is give to children’s toy and items – cute ones, but a surprising amount of stock given the space for a self-described«home décor» store. The vast majority of remaining stock is pillows and blankets, which are all attractive but simply overpriced to me. The jewelry as well(there’s only a small display case of it) was nice but overpriced; I know a lot of artists who handmake jewelry of similar styles, so I was surprised at the amount of mark-up here. It is a nice space, and the woman behind the counter greeted me and offered help if I needed it, I just wasn’t blown away by the selection or anything. But hey, if I need a blanket in Hell’s Kitchen, at least I know a place to look.

We just happened upon this cute store as we were heading back to our hotel. And all I can say is that the tree sweaters that were knitted and the store front décor was all it took to draw me in. Even my mother was engaged with it uniqueness of gifts and décor. I will definitely be back!

It is an awesome place. Thank you very much kind, wonderful lady! You made my day!!! (Only now I realized that I didn’t ask her name. But I definitely will come back, so I catch up with this omission!) I desperately walking through Macy’s in useless hopes to find something special for my friend. After 2 hours of nothing I decided to google the gift shop in Midtown. Thanks God, one of the first links was to Unilocal’s Domus review. I had a good feeling that it is the right place. After 2 avenue and 10 street blocks by foot, I finally got to this hub. The variety of stuff pleased me. I found really interesting gift with idea and quality. Also I get a free wrap. So I got out of there satisfied and ready to congrats my friend with a special date! ! CAUTION The store hours are 12pm — 8pm. The Unilocal info says«till 9pm».

I used to go every week for my violin lesson across the street at my teacher’s apartment and the best part was knowing I could stop into Domus and pick up a little trinket for myself. I would find excuses to buy one of their whimsical cards for people and get excited when a birthday was coming because I knew I would find the best gift, also prices are varied so there are options for any budget. I now play the violin more as a pastime, no longer diligently going to lessons, but while I don’t really miss having to practice all the time I do miss Domus. The next time I stop by, I’m definitely going to stock up on greeting cards so I don’t have to run into Duane Reade last minute and hate myself while picking out some cheesy atrocity. If you live near to Domus… Oh how I envy you.

I absolutely LOVE this store… there is no other store in NYC like it. The owners have the best eye and select the most fabulous items from all over the world and locally as well. I never leave empty handed. This is my go-to store for gifts for others and for myself. Hands down the best store in NYC. It’s such a treasure trove… a must… something for everyone.

Very nice little shop stuffed with cute gift items that the women love. Magnets, jewelry, dishes, cards, and other items for the home. All items are beautiful, creative, or cute. Also teas and chocolates and too many other items to list. This is a small but packed fun store to browse. Guys: take my advice and leave the woman here for a while and walk down to the corner to grab a craft beer at the Pony Bar.

A wonderful hidden little gem in Hell’s Kitchen. A great place to pick up a unique gift from one of the four corners of the world. The two women that run it couldn’t be nicer or more helpful.

I happened to run into Domus after dinner one night with a friend of mine who was in town, and as we were strolling down 44th street, its window display caught our attention, as it somewhat looks like a children/toystore. WRONG…and glad we went in for a peek. Domus is one of those specialty boutiquelike stores that carries unique selection of home goods, gift items, and children items. From candles, to vases to throws for the couch, what’s cool is the fact that a lot of their selections are not widely retailed. Many items are also hand crafted and imported from other countries. And the ladies that run the place… extremely friendly. I believe they told me they were from Italy and really showed outstanding customer service, as they greeted a lot of neighborhood folks seem to stroll in for a peek. Thankfully, I live about a block away and can make this a stop in on the weekends!
