My primary care physician highly recommended Dr. Dolphin for my eye infection. He seemed warm, friendly and knowledgeable, and he felt that he could most certainly relieve the problem. The 1st medication he prescribed exacerbated the symptoms and was discontinued. A 2nd medication he prescribed showed no improvement after several weeks. When I called Dr. Dolphin, assuming he would schedule another appointment, he said, «There’s nothing more I can do.» Nonplused, and in great discomfort, I asked him to please try to find a solution. His answer: «Tell your primary care doctor to refer you to another opthamologist.» I am 74 years old and have never been turned away by a doctor so abruptly and without an exhaustive exploration of the problem… or at least a referral. He simply left me hanging. What a disappointment!

Valentina is right, the receptionists are MEAN! I am sorry to have to write a bad review for a doctor who used to be great. I saw him for 5 years, and didn’t mind the long wait each time, and staff who would forget simple things like form of payment(he only takes checks, no credit cards). His staff rudely canceled two appointments made well in advance, then canceled one while I was waiting in his office for over an hour. While that may have been just my bad luck(except the rudeness), when I called to reschedule the staff passed the message that the doctor would not make another appointment for me. I asked for a referral, they called once and said they’d call back, never did. So now I am 6 months late for my annual exam. Does that sound like good care?

Dr. Dolphin is the best! He reminds me a little of Larry David, which is cool. He takes his time with the exam, and answers questions. You can’t buy glasses or contacts from him, but his thorough exam is worth taking that extra step to care for my eyes. Minus one star because his receptionists are mean.
