Diamonds by Lauren

So, I think communications with David were fine. At times, he would be really quick with his response and other times, he would take a little while longer. No biggie though.
The issue with Diamonds by Lauren was with regard to custom made rings. When we initially went to David to ask whether he could make a specific custom made ring, we provided a picture and he responded that he would be able to duplicate the shank/​band design. We proceeded to purchase a yellow diamond that we saw from his store and paid for it. After payment and about 2 weeks later, we finally get a CAD drawing of the ring. Sadly, it did not look like the sample we provided him… at all. So we go back and ask for another drawing. During the 1.5 week after receiving the first CAD drawing, he provides us with 2 – 3 more samples of what he could custom make for us, but unfortunately, none of them looked like the picture we provided him initially (for which he said he was able to do). While we appreciate his persistent effort, we simply could not go forward on any of the samples he provided, as none of them looked like the picture we provided. We ended up purchasing the center diamond itself and having it put on a setting made by a local jeweler. However, when we received the center diamond, a GIA report did not come with it. We emailed David about it and he responded to me stating that he had told my bf that it would be sent separately. I asked my bf about this to which he looked through his emails and confirmed that he was never told this. I was a bit turned off by the fact that David said that when he, in fact, never told him this statement.
Overall, I’m sure David’s work with regard to diamond bands, halos, etc. is fine… but I would be hesitant to ask him to make a non-​diamond custom ring (we asked for a gold textured shank). I wish he had just told us in the beginning that he was unable or didn’t have the equipment (or whatever reason) to accomplish our design so that we didn’t have to waste 2 weeks before bringing it to another jeweler. Oh well.

I purchased a diamond engagement ring from Diamonds by Lauren last year, or about 6 months ago now. Elaine was very helpful throughout the process and I can’t say enough good things about her. She does a wonderful job and made me feel at ease throughout the process. Loved working with David. I am in CA and he is in NY, it was challenging for me, just the idea of doing all online via phone, internet and etc but David is just outstanding and his guarantee policy is really something that sealed the deal for me. I had a great ONLINE shopping experience with David Friedlander of Diamonds by Lauren. I don’t know who Lauren really is but — WOW… I was sure happy with my earring purchase!
I got a pair of 1″ round 14k white gold diamond hoops to match a diamond bangle I just got from Whiteflash (I invite you to read that review, too!) What really drew me to these earrings was the safety clasp which makes these very secure– you need to press the little button to open the earrings.
Why spend $ 2K on earrings with a snap bar closure when they could pop off and bye bye diamonds! That has happened to me with sterling earrings & fashion gem earrings — which made me sad… if it happened to me with diamond earrings? I’d be devastated!

The customer service I got was outstanding!
My only problem was the diamond earring width was not 2.2mm wide as quoted when looking at them from the front but more like 1.8mm at the thinnest — I was quoted the hinge width — so they don’t match my bangle as much as I would like — but still, they’re sure sparkly!
Make sure to ask LOTS of questions… a year later living with these earrings — one stone fell out from the bottom (you can’t see it) but am I happy? YES! I sure am!

I looked all around after finding Diamonds by Lauren and Rock Diamond Corp. I never found comparable quality, much less a comparable price.
