It came cold, already pre-packed, didn’t have that slightly crisp exterior that these treats are known for. Instead, it was soft/mushy – kind of like eating a soggy ice cream wafer cone. Just because you have hole-in-the-wall street cred, doesn’t mean you can serve old crap.

A food stand located inside a ice cream shop… you pretty much have to walk inside and inside the corner on your right … you will see there is a stand that sells mintures cakes… two types of flavors … Red bean with walnuts and custard flavors… the cakes are shaped as miniature balls and mintures fishes… The fishes has custard and mini balls has red bean with walnuts… The store sells over priced mintures snacks… even though its over priced there are people the come in the store and enjoy there cakes… made fresh when your there… There is two guys working there… one makes the cake and the other work at the crash register… The store is a little cramped… no seating area or tables… no restrooms… place close early around seven pm… so get there early!

This food stand is located on the right, right when you walk in to the Hong Kong Supermarket. It’s like the one on Canal and Lafayette Street. They sell these rice cake things, which is really fascinating to watch them make. It’s these powder mixture in a bowl and then it goes through a machine and then outcomes this flat rice cake. The rice cake is $ 2 for 20 pieces. They’re pretty good. They also sell those little custard cakes too. I found this to be a great location because after shopping for groceries at the market and on your way out pick up some of these rice cakes and custard cakes.
