This store has really gone down hill. They use the old bait and switch, they move into a new neighborhood and lowball the competion out of business then raise their prices to double of what they originally were. They put a local grocer and a dollar store out of business on the same block. The store is dirty and disorganized. You have to watch your receipt at check out because they overprice what the item is advertised at and they don’t honor their advertised discounts. It seems like there’s no proper management at this store. If you want to see how a Deals should be run, take a trip to the one in Riverdale, they’ve got their act together.

Over the last few months this place has really improved. The lines are still long but the employees are more professional, friendly and willing to help. The aisles are rarely crowded by boxes. Their selection continues to be great. #Bravo That being said I was really confused by the fact that I was charged a $ 1 fee to get cash back using my debit card. Defeats the purpose of not using a nearby ATM.

One word: convenient. They carry everyday products(like candy!) and those things you need last minute. Everything is fairly cheap and affordable. What is unfortunate about this place is the ever-existing mess you will find no matter the hour of the day. From huge boxes to random crap lying on the floor, I wonder what employees do all day(let alone the manager???). The employees here are a problem. Be prepared to deal$ with an uninspired, moody, and useless staff.

Deal$ is a great place to find some really cheap stuff. Ramen noodles — 5 for a dollar. A rack of hooks to screw to a door — $ 1. Cheap plastic baskets I used to organize my refrigerator’s annoying freezer basket drawer, 2 for $ 2. It’s a place you should always check when you’re looking for something. Quality is surprisingly good; I was worried the 80 resealable storage bags for a few dollars would be chintzy, but they’re fine. However, these five star reviews are a bit excessive. First off, many things aren’t priced. Sometimes individual items are priced, sometimes there’s a price on the shelf they’re on, sometimes there’s no price anywhere. Prices are not always accurate: I thought it was odd that a 6-pack and an 8-pack of manila envelopes were both on the dollar shelf, but I was charged $ 1.25 for the 8-pack. Cashiers don’t necessarily know the correct price. When I grabbed those 2-for-$ 2 baskets, the cashier charged $ 3 because I’d grabbed the one basket bundle that wasn’t individually marked, and then had to get the manager to refund my dollar. Food items are generally better than a grocery store’s non-sale price, but not always the best price you can find if you’re a good shopper. So just don’t assume that it must be the best price. Still, most of the time it probably will be the best price — assuming you can figure out what that price actually is.

There are boxes of junk all over the floor waiting to be stocked. There is usually only one cashier for a very long line. It smells like a dirty dishrag. I once saw a toddler climb into one of the frozen food cases, and the parent just shook her head and continued browsing the bathroom décor section, snacking on some garlic knots I assume she got from up the block. That said they’ve got $ 3 dollar Red Baron frozen pizzas that make me weak in the knees. We all have bad days(I feel like I have more than most people) and nothing sucks the pain out of my heart like one of these cheesy naughty pizza pies. The Red Baron gets me. The cashiers do not give you judging looks even if you go in 4, 5 nights in a row. They don’t even say things like,“The usual, huh?” which sometimes customer service professionals will do in an attempt to be courteous, but really it just casts a cloud of shame over the whole transaction. Deals also has one dollar SoftSoap and some toilet paper called Panda Brand which I bought when I was in a pinch, but ended up being a solid B+ as far as toilet paper goes.
