Went there with my boyfriend for president’s day weekend and I think we have found our go to Italian spot. The owner works behind the bar sometimes and the evening started with his great wine recommendation — I believe it was a 2010 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. We also had delicious Espresso Martinis and possibly a 2014 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo later in the night. The appetizers — grilled calimari and a burrata dish — were a delight. I am a big fan of burrata in general, but the pairings here were simply delicious and brought out its milky goodness. The calimari was light and balanced. We ordered a Chilean Sea Bass dish and a Rotolo Montanara — pretty much wiped the plates clean after savoring every bite. Everything was just so soft and tender, without any one flavor taking over. A friend ordered the Rigatoni Cipollo — sausage is usually not my go to in a pasta dish — but I completely forgot all about that as I dug in. It felt like a real traditional Italian meal, but certainly a fancier option. Also, the vibe was unpretentious — especially for a mid town location and we had a real blast upfront with the owner, bartenders, and other bar diners.

Came here on a Tuesday night with four of my girlfriends around 8pm. The restaurant didn’t seem busy and we had a reservation though I don’t know if we needed one. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. He made great suggestions and even let some who were deciding between two pasta dishes split their own plate so each could try both dishes they were interested in. It’s not a trendy restaurant; located in Midtown east it was mostly an older crowd. They did however have more modern music playing in the background. The complimentary bread basket included fried polenta and different types of condiments which was a nice touch. I ordered the Rotolo Montanara — almost a pinwheel of pasta with ricotta and spinach, topped with melted cheese and a red cream sauce. The mushrooms stated on the menu were not noticeable and I could have used more sauce but overall, the dish was delicious. The four cheese tortellini also received rave reviews and I enjoyed the Pinot Noir they have on the wine list. All in all, a great meal. I would go back. The bill did seem a little high when we were all just ordering pastas but my friend dealt with the bill and I didn’t have a chance to look before splitting the check.

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The mushroom risotto is out of this world. I’ve strayed from that and always been disappointed. The meat entrees are overpriced for the taste.

I have eaten here twice. Both times were Meh. The service was good but the food isn’t. I had the dinner off the special menu. $ 38.00 for an app, meal and desert. Seemed okay price but not like it was huge savings off the menu price. Saved maybe $ 5 off list but the price really didn’t matter to me but it obviously did to them. Should have called it a the kiddie menu. I had the Caesar salad and it was a single layer of romaine with a tiny bit of dressing. Then I had the Spaghetti Bolognese as the main dish. Again a tiny bowl of pasta and absolutely no flavor. It was horrible. I wouldn’t have fed it to my poor dog. I asked for salt and pepper and put a solid ¼ teaspoon of salt and half teaspoon pepper(took the lid off the jar to add it). I had the cheesecake for dessert and the top was burnt, not browned burnt. Next time I’m in town I’ll go elsewhere for certain.

This place was OK, the service was great but the food was mediocre„ I took my mom here for her birthday, the tirmisu was overly mushy and taste a bit stale like they had it for a while… what was weird too it also taste like they put banana in the cream. smh, … .that was desert… they did spell out happy birthday and wrote it on my moms desert plate in chocolate… the slice was way small, we ordered prosecco which were in small individual bottles ; Which is a lil off for a Italian spot but hey it was still good sparkling wine. The food was OK, the mussels were the best thing, Bread before the meal was hard. Appetizer; shrimp and sliced zucchini had No Flavor at all. Would not chose this as a restaurant for authentic Italian food… There’s Nothing like Carmine’s(theater District)

Their Rotolo Montanara was delicious. To top it all off, their Crème brûlée is a terrific choice of dessert. They could offer a greater variety of coffees though.

The service is fantastic at this restaurant. The waiters are very attentive and friendly. The food is great, and the atmosphere/décor is wonderful. Definitely try the black pasta if you have a chance. It’s delicious, and although it may seem out of the box, you won’t regret ordering it. The leftover pasta made a delicious lunch for the following day. Overall, I will definitely come back and recommend you all to give this place a go!

Wonderful spot. Chose this restaurant after doing some Unilocal research and couldn’t have picked a better place. I came in to the city with my boyfriend to see a show and see the tree at Rockefeller plaza. There’s a parking garage right next door which is unobtrusive and very convenient(brought leftovers right to the car!) Anyway, from the moment we stepped inside we were swept off our feet. The wait staff was impeccable and very attentive. My martini was perfect and the food was delicious. The black linguine was amazing and they brought out complimentary vegetable sides which were great. I would absolutely come back in a heart beat!

This place feels warm and cozy when you first walk in. The bartender was very friendly and we were seated right away despite not having made a reservation. The rest of the meal however, turned out to be mediocre. The pasta came out gummy and the cheese on top was literally chopped from sliced cheese into little squares. The service was super slow on a busy Wednesday evening. We literally sat around and waited 30 minutes for each course and our waiter did not check up on us in between or after we got our entrée. Nothing memorable and will probably not go back for the dining experience. I’d go straight to the bar and stay there.

I live in Boston — my boss asked me to make a dinner reservation for a restaurant near her hotel in New York, so after some Unilocal!ing I picked Da Noi… looking at their menu I was jealous I wasn’t getting invited along! They came back telling me how wonderful it was — the staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and all-around AWESOME. The food was great and the prices were very reasonable given the quality and the area. Next time I’m in New York I will have to go here myself!

I went with two friends. In an effort to try as much of the menu as possible, we decided to split the entrees and the wait staff was very accommodating of that. The live pianist was great and the pasta was great. The prosciutto and melon appatizer was unfortunately subpar.

I dropped in to Da Noi looking for a quick bite to eat after work that wasn’t room service, It did decently. The service was very attentive, although close to being overly attentive. It’s a fine line for sure. The food was very tasty. I had a basic pasta dish, and was very happy with it. The bread basket also included polenta, which was a very nice touch. They also gave me a complimentary side with my meal, which was some weird vegetable thing. It couldn’t really decide whether it was pickled or not, or whether it was hot or cold. It didn’t seem Italian, and just left me feeling confused. Da Noi is well worth going to, just stay clear of anything on the menu that isn’t actually Italian.

I have visited Da Noi on several occasions and have always found the service to be great. Very friendly and helpful staff, good quality food with ample size portions which are fairly priced. Light lunch crowd, but dinner time requires reservations. The ambiance is very special… great oil painting of Sophia Loren hangs in the warm and cozy bar area, and an eclectic collection along the walls of the dining area. I definitely recommend it because it may become your special place in the city. We tried the Fusilli Al Salmone and the black linguini with grilled seafood. Cannot complain about them as they were great(especially the homemade cream sauce). Our friends had the black linguini with grilled seafood and they said they were delicious. One suggestion: Added shrimp to a salad and the size was just that«shrimpy»…recommend going to a medium to large size shrimp for better quality and presentation. Otherwise, everything was very good!

Service was impeccable. The food was great, but the at-home atmosphere was ever greater. I had the ravioli, and it was just enough to satisfy me, as well as have room for dessert – dulce de leche gelato!!! It is just around the corner from our hotel, so it was not a pain getting there by foot. I highly recommend it if you are visiting the area, or just so happen to be in the area.

Nice but casual Italian place with very interesting decorations. We dined the first day after daylight savings to celebrate my dad’s birthday, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Attentive service, delicious everything. They have fried zucchini listed as a side, but you should definitely order that as an appetizer. There was plenty to go around. Everything was portioned perfectly, and the little things of bread bites and grilled vegetables before to go along with us was just the icing on the cake. We were too full to order any actual cake, unfortunately. We need to go back to taste that menu, because the descriptions of them sounded delicious.

My wife and I had a wonderful meal here last night. Wonderful — and it was with a Groupon. Yes, for realsies! Seriously — we’re a little annoyed with Groupon for not specifying beforehand that a small selection of entrees would result in an additional charge, or that there would be an automatic gratuity, but we don’t blame the restaurant for that, especially after talking to a few of the staff. We’ll be complaining to Groupon about those issues. The wine wasn’t super-premium, but it was fine — and how much of an idiot do you have to be to order another bottle of it without asking the price because you *think* it must be low-priced, then base a vindictive one-star review on learning you were wrong?(See«Chester» below.) The pesto dipping sauce for bread and fried polenta sticks was great. The burrata with avocado, bacon, and fried basil was great. The signature pasta stuffed with spinach and ricotta and in a wonderful sauce was a bit salty but great. My wife’s crab-stuffed shrimp was great. My liver and onions was richer than I’m used to but great. The portions were generous. And the sweet croquettes were a great finish. GREAT. And that’s for $ 59 plus tax, and a tip based on the full price(which we would’ve done anyway, notwithstanding them imposing it). The service was fine, all the staff was friendly and helpful, and we will return for a regular-priced dinner, which is not something we say often after a Groupon experiment.

Alright, came here on a Saturday night for a date night. Was excited about coming here and getting access to the full menu. Had purchased a GROUPON deal because I honestly like to see these places before I commit to full price. Now a brief and general disclaimer: Ladies and Gentlemen of the Unilocalosphere, I want everyone to know that there is no harm in purchasing a quality groupon. Furthermore, there is nothing to be ashamed of. With groupon, you get an opportunity to venture out to places that would otherwise be outside your budget. Alas, with any deal or discount, there are all kinds of pluses and minuses, pros and cons. Ups and downs. Enter Da Noi, covenietly located right of the 59th street bridge. Around the corner from famed Smith n Wollenskys. Parking wasnt that hard to find. Upon entering the restaurant, I was ready to eat and try the lamb chops on the menu, which caught my eye when I perused the online menu. The place is quaint, cozy and intimate. Downstairs restrooms and upstairs is the dining room. Artwork all over the walls by Scott Lobiado. Creative pieces and one of the biggest reasons for the extra stars for this review. The waiter informed us that the groupon included one appetizer, one pasta dish, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine. And an added stipulation, which was not listed on the actual groupon deal, was an extra $ 20 fee for any lamb chop or veal dish, how quaint. As we orderd the appetizer was the Calamari fritti, which was the most expensive appie on the menu, but the most disapppointing dislpay of calamari I have ever encountered. Very poorly plated, small portion. I was like wth? This struck a chord with me because my wife and I felt a bit profiled because we had come here on a deal. As we kept going throughout the night, the server who took our orders, was even surprised that we were having 3 more courses until he found out we came with a voucher and had a weird look in his eye asked us if we knew our«boundaries». Big words for a small man. The pasta dish was good, but smaller than expected. The restaurant wasnt even that busy with and it took quite some time to bring out the dishes. I would say we recived more attention from the bus boys and the guy who put Parmesan cheese on our pasta than our actual server. The service was so slow that we managed to finish a whole bottle of wine prior to even getting our entrees! Yupp, thats what it was. When we FINALLY got our entrees, sadly, dissapoint struck again. The portions were small and not worth the price that the menu boasted. The chicken(pollo scarpaiello) was lterally 6 – 7 chicken wings on a plate of clam sauce, which costs 24.95. Really??? Even more upsetting was the rack of lamb, 4 pieces and mashed potatoes with one single cherry tomato cut up to add more B. S. to the presentation. The worst part of it all was the server who put an automatic $ 30 tip in for himself. What a douche! All in all. Groupon was $ 46. The actual meal was 64(look at picture with reciept) .The prices did not, in any way, or capacity reflect the portions. DONTGOHEREWITH A GROUPON or you will get profiled with small portions and unattentive service. Break down of rating. : 1 *: for the nice, intimate, vibe with trendy artwork the walls 2*: for cool MAITR’D, who chatted us up and talked about the art 2.5*: the food was alright, but the portions sucked. Calamari was low grade for an Italian restaurant. PS: this is my 100th review. Should’ve started with a bang.

The service here was EXCELLENT. I felt like I was an honored guest, really. The wine was expensive but average for Manhattan. My glass of Malbec cost more than the bottle would at the wine store. I had the beet pasta with tomato, spinach, shrimp and a garlic sauce. You could have fooled me about the«beet» pasta, it tasted just like whole wheat pasta, which was disappointing to a beet lover! My husband had the linguine bolognese and it was wonderful. The tiramisu was light and delicious. The espresso was a delightful desert as well.

A very nice place with super classy service. If you wanted to go someplace that’s «classy,» this one is for you. I didn’t see chicken parm or some other dishes I normally get but the bread is really good & I think I got some cheese tortellini that was all right. Also had a really good tiramisu.
