It was good. This place is always packed especially in the summer with the out door seating. It has the feel of fine dining but they use paper napkins except cloth. Minestrone soup was great cause it was snowing great flavor. The Caesar salad was ok nothing special.

Hi i live in the neighborhood for 22 years… anyway I come w my family after the holidays for dinner… so while service has been so so… the prices they charge is outrageous… while in the menu the fish start at 22 $ filet of sole. or the red snapper is few dollars more as soon as we ask to ad capers or a different vegetables. the price become 35. or 39 $… Att the owners: guys u are far from a 5 stars restaurant. charging those prices anywhere also will bring u down. my feeling is not to go back ever .this gangster way of doing business… should not happen. but I guess is little Italy. one goes the other one come… that the kind of mentality u live with. sad sad… also the house wines horrible . I don’t recommend to others to go to this place unless u ask very clear the waiter how much each item cost…

Awesome legendary Italian restaurant in the heart of Little Italy. This place is the site of the original Umbertos Clam House where the mobster Joe Gallo was shot. They showed us which table it was. The food here is awesome! The red sauce is great, the pasta is perfectly al dente. The seafood is fantastic. One of my favorite places in Little Italy.

Wine & dined for my fiancé birthday back in November 1st2015 and ended the night with a cappuccino. An amazing view with an uncanny resemblance to Italy. Extraordinary service by true gentlemen, ask for Edmond! You must visit this establishment, you will not be disappointed.

My friend and I happened to be in the neighborhood; with a little convincing(he’s been here before), I gave in and decided to have dinner here. I’ve always been skeptical about eating in this area, but Da Gennero had proved me wrong. I went with the Mango Mojito for the drink, personally it tasted weird and I wouldn’t recommend it. Although food(I ordered the Risotto) was decent and staff were friendly. I love the ambiance and the fact that we weren’t rushed at all.

Visited restaurant on 12÷12÷15. Ordered bruschetta, mozzarella with tomatoes and grilled cheese with marinara for appetizers. For dinner we had cheese ravioli with marinara, manicotti, ziti with eggplant. The bread with dinner is amazing and the oil and herbs dipping sauce is to die for! Everything we had was great! The service was beyond superb. The Last Christmas Martini, Peach Bellini and Lemon Drop Martini were worth the calories! If you are in NYC Little Italy area it’s worth stopping by to eat!

Food was fresh and delicious, and the seafood antipasti had returned to the menu! Atmosphere was warm, dimly lit and inviting. Our waiter was attentive and made us feel as if we were getting white glove service! If you’re in the the area! Check this one out! You WILLNOT be disappointed!

This is my second time to this amazing little Italy restaurant. It is a great place to come for the holidays ! It is to die for . Alex is an amazing waiter full of personality ! He would do anything for his customers ! He is a charming character definitely ask for him! His suspenders are a great addition. If he had a man bun he would be perfect ! He will even escort you to the bathroom. Nicolas the bus boy was amazingly assertive and wanted everything to stay clean and fresh ! The tiramisu is awesome ! It will make you even sweeter then you are … The food reminds me of the old country … All and all delicious food, delicious laughs and as my aunt said sexy waiters.

I enjoyed my experience in this restaurant. It was a great group of people who take care of me and my mom, from the moment that we approach the restaurant until the moment that we left. The place is beautiful with nice music. The food was delicious my favorites were the portobello with mozzarella and minestrone. The wine list has a nice choices. Also I saw the dishes of my neighbors in the restaurant that looked so delicious. In one word I recommend this place. Thanks for everything.

Da Gennaro is another nice place in Little Italy, found on Unilocal.Great service, and the staff is really pleasant! I loved the ambiance, and since it was such a warm evening my date and I were able to eat outside. I truly enjoyed the olive oil dipping sauce and the fresh bread; one of the tastiest oils I’ve eaten. For dinner I ordered the Chicken Parmesan with penne pasta and sauce, which was really good. The chicken was really moist, and had lots of mozzarella cheese on top. My date had the Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken. It looked and smelled really good. I would have asked to try it, but since portions here aren’t very big I opted out. I also didn’t want to be greedy(lol). It was just enough food for him. I on the other hand was unable to eat all of my meal and got a doggie bag even though I have no dog. Oh…I was a little disappointed in the Sangria, It was okay. I never got a buzz. I can honestly say I have had better. All in all my sidewalk café dinning experience was pretty nice. Next time I’ll try something different on the menu, minus the Sangria.

Love the service here, the food is very good and each time we go to NYC, we alway stop here. In Boston you can’t go to a restaurant in the North End where they don’t Rush you out. Here, you can sit, relax, order an appetizer first, then an entrée with a bottle wine and there is never any rush to get you out so they can refill the seats.

We went to this restaurant because the guy out front suggesting his restaurant wasn’t as pushy as the others on the street. Good was good, wine was good, the atmosphere was fun too. Oil was good. server was almost nonexistent. Had to ask for more water to random people walking by. We got our food and 5 – 10 minutes later the server came over asking if we wanted any parmesan or fresh ground pepper. We got the pesto gnocchi and I forgot what he got; however it’s was decent

In the mood for Chinatown Chinese, we strolled out of the rain and into little Italy instead; 2 blocks in and I was being pitched italian menus left and right. Bypassing one and heading diagonally across the street to Genaro’s was indeed the right decision. I should always remember to go with my gut decision, it’s usually right, and man was it. Being from Long Island and having the benefit’s of New York dining at my fingertips makes me a lucky guy; I feel even more lucky that I picked Da Genaro’s and let me tell you why: Locally, I go to a place that has the best Chicken Sorrentino I have ever had… even from some top notch Italian restaurants, the best I could really find was the first place I have ever had the dish, and one of my local favorites. Now, that being said, I found it’s match in Little Italy last night. Debating between a couple dishes but going with my gut once again I ignored the waiters suggestion of veal, and the other red sauce dishes(they never seam to be so great from these touristy type italian places, i like a real good red sauce) i went with my local staple, «Pollo Sorrentina.» * First came the nice bread; hot and fresh, served with an amazingly garlic ridden, crushed red pepper oil to dip. * Then, skipping the appetizer for time constraints and a wide variety of taste bud differences, we were served our main course; After sampling each dish I knew mine was the best. The rigatoni was fine, the Gnocchi was good, neither were the best I have had… However, my chicken dish was out of this world and a tough competitor to the local dish both being quite excellent. Served with a smaller side of pasta I may have to say my local joint is better but, I really liked this side of pasta a bit better… tough choices aside, Da Genaro’s is a great eatery with great food, romantic views and an all out friendly staff willing to go the extra mile. Not a single complaint other than rare spurts of slowness… but, at this very busy, slightly cramped spot, I accept the very minor flaw. Can’t beet the quality of food for a very reasonable price. This was a few years back and I hope they kept up with the times.

I came to this restaurant while at the San Gennaro feast. We sat inside. It was crowded. We sat down and ordered some wine. They only had three choices by the glass: merlot, Chianti and Pinot Grigio. I wasn’t thrilled about that because I don’t really like any of those 3. My friend and I ordered a margarita pizza and a salad with chicken to share. The pizza was good. Not great, but good. The salad wasn’t really good. I didn’t like the dressing. Usually with a salad with radicchio, endive, and arugula, I like a simple oil and vinegar. The dressing was a little heavier. The chicken was also not good. It was kind of tough. The food here was mediocre, in my opinion. The service was good but I probably wouldn’t return.

Da Gennaro is the place to be. I have been here 3 times already and have had a great time. The most recent visit was last night during the San Gennaro feast. I met my friend for a late dinner. We definitely had a long day and a sit down dinner was a great choice. We ordered a carafe of pinot. Very nice. Very nice glass of wine. As for our entrees, my friend ordered the pizza capricciosa and I ordered the penne al arabbiata. The food was nice. My friend didn’t rave about the pizza and said it was ok. However, my dish was delish. It had a lil kick of heat which I liked. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. We decided to have a lil more wine and ordered half of a carafe of the same. What a nice and relaxing time spent at Da Gennaro. I will definitely be visiting them again.

I came here with a date on a Saturday night. We sat outside and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The calamari was crispy and not oily which was great. The calamari was cooked to perfection. I don’t remember the name of what I got(see picture) but it has prosciutto, mushrooms, peas, and their delicious pink sauce. It was AMAZING! I almost ate the whole thing. They had just enough prosciutto and vegetables so I was able to get a little with every bite. The customer service was great & friendly and I would definitely go back again. Their bread and olive oil with seasoning in it was delicious! I ate way too much of it before my entrée came, but luckily the food was so good I just couldn’t stop myself from eating.

I don’t know where to begin. Given that this is a tourist attraction, the quality shouldn’t be THAT good. But worst than what I expected. I received my utensils with OIL stains on them. Yes I did confirm that by wiping them clean with my napkin given to me, and saw the stains. FINE, I asked for a new set and thought the worst was over but guess not. Received our glasses for water and saw lipstick stains on them. The couples sitting next to us saw it and wiped their glasses. I gave up at that point and just went to buy poland spring water near by. AND the worst is still not over yet, we received our bread which is pretty good but the olive oil on the other hand was… left overs from another customer. How did I reach this conclusion? Well there was left over marinara sauce at the foot of the sauce holder. I will provided pictures proving this as well. As for the food quality, it was average. Better than what I expected after the whole hygiene issue of this restaurant. I shouldn’t have expected much given that this is a tourist destination, there’s high volumes of customers and MAYBE workers got lazy and looked for short cuts to cleaning or just short cuts in general. HOWEVER on the bright side, the servers were tentative, which is a bit on the bright side to this visit. BUT however I do not recommend this restaurant, despite their food being average for a regular Saturday lunch. There should be better ones around Little Italy. But because of that, I refuse to come back to this restaurant.

Bottle of Red, bottle of White, this place was a great choice to fit our appetite. I will meet you any time you want at this Italian Restaurant! Had a great meal and overall great experience. Sat outside on a perfect night and enjoyed the excellent weather and scenery(mostly people watching)! Really the only bad part about the meal and as the aggressive behavior of the staff. You can hardly walk bye with out being asked to sit down and eat. But this is par for the course for Little Italy and it certainly did ruin our meal. The meal starts with bread, oil and ice water. Waiter was somewhat helpful with the menu, but basically told us «everything was good»! Well, everything we ordered was pretty good! I had the Veal Parma which was a fair portion of veal(but very thin) along with cheese, pasta and sauce. The sauce(or I guess I should say gravy in these parts) was excellent! The Italian Ice in a actual lemon was a refreshing treat after our dinner. This was the type of place Billy Joel might have had in mind when he wrote his ode to Brenda and Eddy and their Italian Restaurant!
