Disappointed after being a customer for 5 years here. The current management has changed, the interior redone, and prices skyrocketed. In the past, I found that as arrogant Marco is he was the stylish that worked for me. Came without an appointment not realizing about all these changes especially that some of their staff had left. All I wanted was a simple trim just to cleanup some split ends so I asked for whoever was available. Kevin was nice, very little small talk, but a little rough with my hair at times. My hair was so tangled after he blow dried it and my bangs came out too short. Also wish he had asked if I even wanted my hair curled or a blow out before going at it. I really could have done without both because every service seems to incur charges.
Conclusion of these additional charges tacked onto my bill. Well what used to be $ 28 for a trim with blow/​wash in cash is now $ 50 AFTER 15% check in discount. Close to $ 60 actually after tipping and they charge extra if you pay by card. Oh and only after I paid they mentioned that they give 20% discount if you booked ahead of time. What a shoddy deal, not a good one if you’re a first time customer. Honestly, not sure if I’ll be back. Standards have lowered and prices just keep going up.

He is very professional, personable, and has a genuine passion for cosmetology. Nikki’s been my hair stylist for 3+ years. He’s a true artist… I’m lucky to have met him…

I really like this place because its clean, spacious, organized, and friendly. They’re really good with scheduling and following through with appointments. I’ve been getting my hair cut by Jerry and he’s great. I almost don’t want to give his name away because then he’d become busy and booked! lol. I appreciate Jerry because he is very patient, meticulous, honest, and professional, and he takes his craft seriously.
Also, they give you a nice hair wash before and after the cut, so that’s great!

Ive been wanting a haircut for a long long time. I have been growing my hair for awhile to donate to the People with Cancer. I was reading reviews and see how everyone wanted Kenneth… When I called, the receptionist said he is book for at least a month! Im not going to wait for month!!! I trusted the receptionist decision to put me with JERRY. He took the time to listen to my needs. When he was cutting my hair, you can tell he really put his heart into his work. He was very focused! I was skeptical at first, cutting my hair short (my hair was a little above my waist)…I decided on a Long Bob! JERRY did an excellent job. I highly recommend him. I posted a photo :) Hes off on Mondays. Bring cash to avoid 4% credit card surcharge. Also, call to make an appointment to get a discount.

I love this place! A friend recommended it to me and I got a cheap, fast and beautiful cut from Jerry. I called the day of and got an appointment for that afternoon. My hair was really gross and dry from bleaching it a few months ago and he did a great job cutting off the dead ends and thinning and layering my very thick hair. Cannot recommend this place and him enough.

I’ve moved from NYC to San Francisco but everytime I come back to NY, I go see Kevin. I have long asian hair and he always knows how to bring out the long layers while keeping it thick and lush. Go see Kevin!

Hands down, no need to go to anyone else but Jerry. I have followed Jerry from his previous employer to here. He is simply the best. He takes his time (no rush job), he gives you consultations/​recommendations on styles and the final result is always great. I will wait an hour or however long to get an appointment with him. He definitely skilled in cutting all types of hairs and coloring as well.

I like the salon in general (the renovation looks great), but I love Jerry! Since he started cutting my hair more than a year and a half ago, I even followed him from his former workplace to this one. I have impossibly high standards for haircuts, and Jerry has always met them – what’s more, he is very creative and stylish, and always finds subtle new ways to make my haircuts look fresh and «in.» Also – and this is important – he knows how to cut hair in such a way that it grows in nicely, and continues to look good until the next haircut. So, if you’re a guy (or a girl!) looking for an excellent haircut at a very reasonable price, then Jerry is your man.

I found this place through Unilocal when I was looking for an inexpensive haircut. I have to say, the reviews didn’t fail me. As I walked in, I was greeted by the hostess/​front desk named CHARLIE. She was very warm, friendly and accommodating from the moment I arrived until I walked out of the salon. She has this sense of calmness and positive energy radiating out of her.
I was very happy with my haircut and stylist. JERRY did an amazing job from the trim to the style after the blow dry. I showed him some photos of how I wanted my hair done and he did the job more than I expected. He was very nice and patient. He took his time and wasn’t in a rush at all. He made sure I was happy with the result by asking me questions and giving suggestions.
The place is clean and spacious. I would definitely go back and recommend it to my friends.

I have been coming to cutting edge for my hair cut and coloring several times. The service there is great. Highly recommend my stylist Nicky and Carl. They did excellent jobs on my hair and they are very attentive. They spend times giving me tips on how they thought the style would better suit me. The result never disappointed me. AMAZING JOB! I’m looking forward to my next visit with Nicky and Carl.

Cutting Edge Salon greeted and welcomed me in the second I walked in. The receptionists and staff were friendly and seated me to speak with the stylist, Jerry. He was helpful in making me feel comfortable with trying a new look. This was my first time getting highlights. I am really pleased and happy with the results. Jerry was a great stylist that listened to my concerns and preferences while recommending professional suggestions. This was my first visit and I will definitely come back. I highly recommend Cutting Edge Salon.

After waiting over a month to get this appointment they called me today letting me know Kenneth wasn’t available this Saturday for my 10am appointment. I made my appointment over a month ago and got a call 5 days before my appointment letting me know Kenneth won’t be able to see me. When I asked the receptionist when he was available she told me not I’ll the 2^nd week of May. Such a huge inconvenience and so disappointing. I basically have to wait another month to see him.

I’ve been coming here for the past 3−5years, decent price and decent scissor haircut.
Flash forward to today, place has been renovated, new management, new prices, haircut for men is now 42 $ which for me is robbery, I get trims, recently I got my hair turned into a j-​pop star which closely resembles a bird’s nest. Never coming back

I made an appointment with Kenneth for a bob cut about 2 weeks in advance because he was fully booked. I was greeted with a warm smile by the receptionist the moment I arrived. She immediately took my jacket and hung it up for me and helped me put on my robe. (I was amazed by the great service.) She then brought me to get my hair washed by this sweet older woman that gave me a relaxing head massage. A+ so far!
Finally, I meet with Kenneth. I showed him a picture of how I wanted my hair cut and he made sure he knew exactly how i wanted it which i really really appreciate. He did not rush me when i explained to him what i liked and didn’t like. Throughout the whole process, he was very focused and I appreciate his attention to detail. He was very accommodating to my opinions. I asked for what I wanted and he definitely delivered! A++++
The salon is very clean and modern. The prices are very reasonable as well. I paid about $ 40 for a hair cut which is amazing. I used to pay over $ 80 in other salons. Definitely will be coming back!

A girlfriend and I were feeling brave and decided to try a new salon. We found this place through a recommendation, combined with all the good reviews… this was where we decided to venture out today. The salon is fairly easy to locate on the street.
I called ahead on the day of to find a time where they can take 2 clients. I got Marco and I am not sure of the stylist my friend got. We were welcomed by the receptionist who took my jacket and gave me a smock. They were all so friendly and nice.
The salon was a little dirty, dirty in terms of still having hair on the floor from previous cuts– ew. I think thats a minimal ask for a salon, please clean the hair up so other guests can enjoy their experience. The salon had a good amount of clients coming in and leaving, some seemed like regulars.
THE RESULT: I loved my haircut! Marco and I talked a little about hair, and how i can take better care of my hair. I have so many layers now! He did a great job. He was thorough and deliberate with his cuts.
I would reccomend this place and come back

I have been coming here for the last 6 years and Dennis has always cut my hair to my expectations. He speaks english and cantonese but I find it easier to talk to him in my ABC cantonese. The most important thing is: HE LISTENS. He actually listens to what you want and always makes sure he doesn’t cut more than you wanted. I HATE when you tell a hairdresser 2 inches and they cut off 4. He also never tries to sell me extra treatments. He is moving to a new location soon so make sure you call and ask!
Aside from that, front desk/​receptionists can be a little cold but whatever, it is chinatown. Also for the price, I can not complain. I think they raised their prices though. I also usually pay in cash because I hear they charge you extra with a credit card.

Cutting Edge Salon will do cuts, colors, blow outs, and more for moderate prices. I can usually make an appointment 24 hours in advance, provided that I don’t necessarily care who I see. Through the five years I’ve frequented CE, I’ve had my hair cut by no fewer than five guys (Kenneth, Dennis, Kevin, Lam???). My low maintenance long layer cuts are pretty standard, and thankfully the guys all know how to layer and thin out my thick straight hair.
This last time I had Marco cut my hair, who was quiet, but thoughtful, and quick. I walked in at 5:00 pm on a Friday (after making an appointment that morning) and walked out an hour later feeling fab, but without putting in a ton of product in my hair. Effortless. Love it. The cut looks great a week later and I feel so much better without all that heavy hair.
The shampoo lady did a decent job, the front staff was fine, if perfunctory, and I walked out spending $ 33 for the whole thing, not including tips. I’ll be back in a couple months! Thanks again!
