Was lucky enough to encounter the She Loves Me ice cream truck in promotion of the Broadway show. They were giving out Coolhaus ice cream sandwiches, and I had vanilla ice cream with dark chocolate cookies. So good!

SOOOOOOGOOOOOOOD! I tried this about 2x now and it is def one of my faves. I wish they had a store in NY because I would go all the time. I honestly don’t even remember what flavors I got for cookie or ice cream but I just remember it being really good. It’s been awhile so hopefully soon I can eat it again!

I am so confused about the ice cream«sandwich» that I got today. I built my own sandwich with blueberry and corn ice cream between two snickerdoodle cookies. First of all, my sandwich was served to me in a cup that was too small for the sandwich. Then because the cup was too small, the cookies were crushed. It was like I was eating a sundae topped with cookies. If I had wanted that then I wouldn’t have bought an ice cream sandwich. The ice cream itself was basically melted too — it was practically mush. Taste-wise, the cookies and ice cream were okay but nothing super special that everyone hyped it up to be. This is definitely not worth the $ 6 that they charge. If you want a good ice cream sandwich I recommend going to Melt in the LES.

Ordered an I cream sandwich from one of their trucks when it was out in downtown Brooklyn. I ran all the way back to the office to grab my wallet really expecting something so amazing when I read«Pistachio with shaved black truffle.» I’m not one for unique flavors but I enjoy both pistachio and truffle so I thought I couldn’t go wrong. I ordered the pistachio with the chocolate cookies and waited with wide eyes ready to indulge. The sandwich is prepared right there, scooped and smushed together since it’s a made to order type of situation(customizable). I really appreciate being about to combine my own flavors so that’s a plus. However, since it’s not premade, it looks a little different. The cookies are thing and soft. The ice cream, two large scoops, is already soft and ready to melt into your hands. You have to eat the sandwich almost immediately. I thought the cookies were too soft for an ice cream sandwich because it won’t really keep the ice cream in that shape and you’re worried not only about ice cream dripping from the side, but also ice cream dropping from the middle where the cookies break. My pistachio black truffle ice cream was pretty disappointing. I could taste the truffle, but I think that disadvantaged the pistachio. The ice cream wasn’t as sweet as I am used to and I didn’t taste enough of the pistachio. Also, the black truffle shavings give a chocolate chip crunch, but when you bite into them, no flavor. I think the ice cream has already absorbed the truffle flavor. Overall, wouldn’t go for the pistachio. If I just have a hankering for ice cream sandwiches and Coolhaus is nearby then I’d go, but mainly because I have an obsession with ice cream sandwiches. I wouldn’t go onto of my way to seek these.

First became aware of the cool haus amazingness when I lived in LA. I love how you can choose different cookies for the top and bottom. Try the Foie Gras ice cream. Don’t be scared, it’s really good! Friendly service too :)

Truck was right by my office in the financial district several times a week around lunch time. If anything, go for the cap’n crunch cookie, it is amazing!

DELICIOUSSSSSSS! I had an ice cream sammy but I think the ice cream itself is way better than the cookies or in between the cookies. I got the fig mascarpone flavor. It was very creamy and I loved the big chunk of fig in it.

Who can say no to an ice cream sammy on a nice day while taking a break from work? The sandwich(two cookies and ice cream in the middle) is $ 6, which is a little expensive but I can deal. Only complaint is the wrapper, which is a napkin and it does not do the sammy sticks to the cookie, and the icecream melts into it so you cant slurp it. Be sure to ask for a carrying thing or else you’ll be a(cold?) mess… Flavors are unique and fun. Cookies are actually nothing special but goes well with the icecream. I plan on always going when they are around the office. Summer’s gonna be fat.

I Like the Flavors but Spoons should not be Required for the ice cream sandwiches.

3.5 stars but I’m rounding up to a 4. One sandwich costs $ 6, which may seem pricey but if you break down normally how much each item would cost, it seems pretty fair. Two cookies for $ 1 each and a large scoop of ice cream for $ 4. These are standard NYC prices. With all the flavors of cookies and ice cream to choose from, this is definitely a gourmet ice cream sandwich. Much better than Chipwich for sure. They allow you to choose two different kinds of cookies. I went with the Nutella Toasted Almond ice cream, Gluten-free Coconut Almond cookie, and the Oatmeal Raisin cookie. Both the ice cream and the coconut cookie had little to no almonds. The Nutella ice cream just tasted like plain chocolate. I also thought the oatmeal raisin was a little too sweet. Texture-wise though, the cookies were excellent. Both were chewy and soft. Extremely messy to eat, because they literally just take a scoop of ice cream and plop it between the cookies. Luckily, they do come with spoons. This does seem like a dessert you can easily assemble at home for a lot less, as, in my opinion, their flavors aren’t so special that you cannot get them anywhere else. Still, this is a welcome treat in general on any hot day. Just eat it quickly before it melts as the cookies looks really unappetizing covered in the melted ice cream.

This truck is like the four leaf clover! I scour the city searching for this truck that is often rented for private events. I have to say this is one of my favorite ice cream places! There ice cream sandwiches are some of the best I’ve ever had. The flavors are so good. And the option to mix and match gives you so many options. Today I had the Makers Mark Manhattan ice cream(sweet cream ice cream with black cherries soaked in makers) on a red velvet cookie. SOOOOGOOOD! I hight recommend trying Cool Haus if you see it! Snatch it up because who knows if you will happen upon it again. P. s. I don’t mean to make it sound like it’s the Z train or anything. They have a twitter @coolhausny and they post there locations. I just never am near them.

I do not want a spoon with my ice cream sandwich. Unfortunately, these monster ice cream sandwiches do come with spoons, and they are much needed. Sure, these sound great: choose among a huge variety of cookies and mix and match with any of the several gonzo flavors of ice cream. For example, I went with Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch Cookies and Fried Chicken & Waffles Ice Cream($ 6) Before you get all excited like I did, know that this ice cream flavor does not actually taste like fried chicken and waffles. Described as a brown butter maple ice cream with candied chicken skins and caramelized waffles, it actually tastes like a sweet vanilla flavor. It is pretty good, but not as magical as it sounds. The cookies were pretty good too — a bit chewy with a fair amount of peanut butter flavor. But together, these things are just a mess(literally). On taking the first bite, probably 90% of the ice cream completely squished out of the sides, leaving me with two cookies with a coating of ice cream on one side each and a melty pile of ice cream surrounding them. That melty ice cream was the major problem, which makes these ice cream sandwiches no better than something I could slap together at home. Perhaps by themselves the cookies would be good. The same goes for the ice cream too, which was very creamy. However, they just don’t do it for me when combined here. There’s a difference between an ice cream sandwich and a big scoop of ice cream squished between two cookies, and I much prefer the former.

My friends and I were walking through Central Park and stumbled across this truck. I had two pumpkin walnut cookies with vanilla bean ice cream in the middle and it was amazingly delicious. The guys in the truck were friendly and seemed pretty stoked about the product they were selling(and offered up a few flavor combination ideas). PS. I did not eat the edible wrapper, but one of my friends did and said it didn’t really taste like anything.

I came here with high hopes for red velvet ice cream sandwich with green tea ice cream. The green tea ice cream tasted like any other green tea ice cream out there. Also, as for the red velvet ice cream sandwich with coffee oreo ice cream, it was pretty good– actually better than the green tea ice cream. However, the red velvet cookie got soggy and didn’t taste that good. Overall, it was worth a try.

Thanks so much, Coolhaus, for the free treats! I heard from a friend in June that Coolhaus was offering ice cream sandwiches themed on Showtime’s «Dexter.» There was a truck parked outside of Times Square that gave away vanilla ice cream with cherry swirls, sandwiched by a double chocolate chip cookie and a Snickerdoodle cookie. However, it wasn’t that great, and maybe it’s because the goodies were being mass produced and given away free of charge. The ice cream itself was pretty average vanilla /nothing spectacular, the Snickerdoodle cookie was bland and tasted like a plain sugar cookie, although the double chocolate chip wasn’t bad since the cocoa flavor was stronger and more distinct. I ended up eating it like an open faced sandwich, tossing the Snickerdoole cookie into the trash can — the double chocolate cookie meshed well with the plainer vanilla ice cream(you couldn’t really taste the cherry swirls, which I actually liked because I’m not a huge fan of fruity flavors!). Props for uniqueness and venturing into the tough ice cream sandwich domain, and the generosity of free ice cream! Wonder if my rating would be higher if I actually bought an ice cream sandwich…

This truck randomly showed up in LIC literally across the street from by building. I was pretty excited since this has been on my list of food trucks to try! The price is a little steep at $ 6 a sandwich but that’s to be expected in NYC. I got the s’mores cookie with the chocolate lava cake ice cream and it was delicious. The ice cream was the perfect consistency for eating. It wasn’t too frozen or hard and didn’t make my teeth hurt to bite into it. The sandwich also had a good ice cream to cookie ratio. They had a ton of really interesting ice cream and cookie flavors which I’m sure are all great. I would definitely recommend the s’more cookie and the chocolate lava ice cream pairing. I hope this truck keeps parking across from my building on Sunday evenings!

LA original ice cream sandwich truck! i’ve tried Coolhaus in los angeles and wasn’t too impressed but i gave them another shot in NYC& their ice cream sandwiches are not bad! the cookie texture has improved for sure —snickerdoodle cookie + double chocolate chip cookie + cherry swirl vanilla ice cream: MMmm one reoccuring problem, these get a bit difficult to eat once the ice cream starts melting the slightest! NOTE: there’s a deal everyday, just follow their twitter account to find out the password for $ 1 off two sandwiches

I’ve been stalking this truck on Twitter for a while(no shame), waiting for an excuse to take someone with me. Luckily, this morning I woke up, checked my Twitter feed and saw they would be just a few subway stops away from my place. Like a true fatty, I pretended to be out running errands, when really the only reason I left my apartment all day was to find this truck and get my fix. This is my version of a productive Sunday. The truck is colorful, the ice cream cookie combinations endless, and the staff so cheery. A sammy will run you $ 6, and it’s a good size. Definitely shareable, but not if you’re with me. I sampled the Chicken & Waffles Ice Cream, but decided on this blazing summer day I need a Ginger Snap Cookie(Vegan btw) with Key Lime Pie Ice Cream. It was messy, melty, ginger snappy, limey goodness all up in my mouth. Loved it.

If the nice lady on the Coolhaus truck asks you if you want to go halfsies, DOIT! I was online for a few minutes and watched her make a few recommendations, and everyone seemed to like her ideas, so do what ever this lady tells you to do, DOIT. Snickerdoddle cookie, check Balsamic Fig Mascarpone ice cream half scoop, check Salted Caramel ice cream half scoop, check And I almost ran back to my desk because I was in serious fear my ice cream was starting to melt too much. When I got to my desk I sat down and ate it right away. Still wearing my coat. It was that good. Cookie was moist, thick, and everything a snickerdoodle cookies should be. Salted caramel flavor was a little too sweet for my taste, but that’s where the genius of halfsies comes into play. The mascarpone ice cream was creamy and delish, but not really sweet, hence the perfect flavor balance. And the bits of figs in the cream cream were a nice touch.

Ice cream sandwich? Meh. Ice cream sandwich w/exotic flavors? Hmmm… Ice cream sandwich w/choose it yourself cookie and ice cream flavor? Ooooo… Ice cream sandwich w/edible rapper? Oh heck yea! I was always skeptical about ice cream sandwich and especially when it’s priced at $ 6 a piece. But one evening, there lays Coolhaus on a corner around St. Mark’s. Having just finished a snack and really wanted something sweet and on the dessert side, I gave Coolhaus a chance. Being overwhelmed by their menu with different ice cream flavors(like candied bacon, fried chicken and waffles, Makers Mark Manhattan — just to name a few) and cookie flavors, I was glad that sampling was encouraged. I ended up getting the Makers Mark Manhattan Cocktail Ice Cream w/the Snickdoodle cookie. I loved how the ice cream had a light bourbon taste to it(exactly what I wanted), the cookie was soft and chewy and worked really well with the ice cream. The best part would be the edible wrapper, it is said to be made from wafer and I actually stared at the wrapper to see if it’s true. So I get to eat ice cream, cookie, and wafer — pretty awesome.
