Gay male friend from Boston visiting straight female friend in NYC wanted to go out for gay night in NYC. Sure! This place was recommended to him by a different friend in NYC. Told us no cover until midnight(true) and open bar 10 – 11 pm(not so true). I am happy that I didn’t pay to get into this place, I can say that much. It was pretty horrible! The crowd was diverse, but they were all freaks. Half of them were probably on drugs, the other half were just creepy. The place has no character whatsoever, the decorations are horrible and dated, like this place had its heyday in the early 90’s club era. The music was forgettable and the place was pretty empty, which made it feel even more awkward. Granted, it was«early»(before midnight), but I couldn’t imagine the place getting any better if it just continued to fill with the same kinds of people that were already there. I’m sorry. It was just not an attractive crowd. Anyways, we just made it for like 5 minutes of «open bar» which, in translation, means you have two choices — plain Pinnacle vodka with cranberry juice or with tonic water. Really? Gross. And the cup is filled all the way with ice. Just nasty. Again, thank god we didn’t pay to get in there — OR for the drinks! We downed our two free drinks on the first floor, walked to the other two floors to check them out(both just as empty and just as freaky) and then left for better things. Would not go back. Would not recommend. Not even for the free crappy vodka drinks.

Whenever I end up here, I’m smashed… That means its a good time! The drinks are pricey & weak — stick with shots. The music is everything you hear on the radio, but the techno/house version — your typical dance mix.

The good: Three dance floors; very diverse crowd with lots of nice-looking boys; good music. The bad: Ridiculous cover(even at half off); $ 40 minimum on your credit card(plainly in violation of their membership agreement, which I’ve reported); $ 11 for tiny, weak drinks; automatic 25% tips on credit cards. We only bought two drinks and paid cash, but I felt bad for my friend who got hosed. I would consider going back, but only at half price(or less) cover, and I wouldn’t buy any drinks.

«the return of the mega club dance party» or some bs is how they bill this gay saturday party at the providence hotel in midtown, club 57 aside from the bitchy door guys, or gals if im being honest/bitchy myself, this place is fun. its nice to have a huge, generally packed nighclub without having to go to chelsea or downtown to santos… the crown is always mixed, but expect to see a lot of LES wanna be hipsters from the UWS and UES that doesnt mean they are not hot though, this place is crawling with hot guys, on three levels and in many different rooms with three djs, this place will def bring you back for more
