We were walking by this store yesterday, and I couldn’t resist going inside to look at the souvenir items(I know; it’s pathetic that I visit souvenir stores when I live right here in NYC — but I have an obsession with the color red, and you never know when you’ll find that perfect red item). The selection wasn’t real large, but meanwhile I spied a *huge* red coffee mug(seriously, it could hold a can of soup). It was their last one and the price was really reasonable, so naturally I bought it. The sales clerk was a *very* sweet-natured guy and we had a pleasant conversation in Spanish. Bonus points for him because he was shocked when I told him how old I am; ha ha.

NEVEREVERHAVEFILMDEVELOPEDHERE. It’s the only place near work that still develops film. I couldn’t make it to B&H when they’re open, so I thought I’d give it a go, as I needed the photos quickly. I even bared the $ 25 processing and CD fee(which is by far and away the most I have EVER been charged). The photos are completely washed out, and blurry in a way that can’t have been caused by shaking at the time the picture was taken. I implore you: never have film processed here!

I had an attachment that was stuck to my lens for my camera so it’s an easy fix. They fixed it and it took them less than a minute to get the attachment off. So far so good. After he fixed it he asked for $ 60 and he’ll give me a free cheap filter to go with it. I was happy that they fixed my lens, that was a simple fix, but to want $ 60 for something that simple was very insulting. I told Keith, the guy who I dealt with, that I do not want a cheap filter and $ 60 was ridiculous for the work he did. He bumped it down to $ 30 I accepted, but that was still way over priced for what he did. The whole store was filled with snakes, especially Keith who wanted $ 60 for a simple fix. I would’ve easily given a really good tip and a 5 star rating, but I was totally thrown off by the employees there. Never going back there just because of the workers. One star. Don’t go to this store.

This review is for ** watch battery replacement ** only. I passed this store on the way to Bassano(c/o Unilocal), and saw a sign for watch batteries and repair. The watch guy was out for lunch, but they called him to see if he could take care of mine in the next half hour. I left my ESQ wristwatch there, ran a couple errands, and it was ready to go in the promised time. It only cost $ 10, which I think is decent for midtown. Let’s see how long the battery lasts. If it craps out too early, I’ll post an update.

Went today because it’s nearby and I was really low on time and was completely ripped off. The guy tried to charge me 50 dollars for a 4 gb sd card. I couldnt remember what they were but knew that was too high so he offered to bring it down to 40 and then finally 35. I get home and I realize it is only worth 5 dollars. I cant return it because he put it directly into my camera and didnt give me the case. He also seriously overcharged me on a really crappy lens cleaning kit which he didnt know how to use. I will only ever be back there to chew him out. Seriously immoral and skeezy. I am furious and if I werent on my way to the airport to go away for two weeks I would be there here right now demanding a refund. Never shop here. They should be shut down.

I IMPLOREYOUNOTTOSHOPHERE! I purchased a camera from this store; there was a miscommunication regarding the amout of memory that the camera came with. The salesperson stated that the camera came with a «small memory card» so I chose not to purchase additional memory. The camera in fact came with no memory whatsoever. So I felt that the salesperson had misrepresented the features of the camera. I called on December 26th, 2010(just days after the camera was purchased) to explain the situation and asked if the camera could be returned. They suggested that I purchase additional memory. I said I wasn’t happy and I wanted to return the camera. I returned to the store a few weeks later and tried to return the camera. The salesperson and the store manager refused to process my return because more than 7 days had elapsed since my purchase. I explained the conversation that we had and said there must have been a miscommunication and asked if they would process my return anyway. They again refused. The store manager called me a liar and a verbal dispute escalated. I yelled at the salesperson and advised another customer who was in the store that she should not make any purchases because the salespeople are swindlers. The salesman who had sold me the camera ran out from behind the counter toward me in a threatening and menacing way, which made me run out of the store. It was a snowy day and they had cardboard on the floor to absorb water from people’s shoes. I slipped on the cardboard while running out of the store and landed on my hand, which caused an abrasion. I quickly got up and continued running out of the store, fearful that the salesperson was going to attack me. When I fell on the floor, I had dropped the camera and my wallet. I was fearful to go back into the store so I called the NYPD who collected my belongings for me(including the camera). When I got the camera back, the receipt, which I had taped to the camera so that I would not lose it, had been removed by the store employees. As you may have gathered, this was the worst and most traumatic shopping experience of my life.

SHORT&SWEET: not your typical NY electronics shop where you’ll need to take a shower when you get home to wash off the sleaze. These guys are friendly and helpful, with a very clean, uncluttered store with decent prices.

I just stopped inside of this store on a whim. I’ve walked past it a million times on my way to and from Sephora. I just always thought it was one of those tourist souvenir shops. I needed film in a bad way. I’m still one of those people who enjoy 35 mm photography, and finding the film I want these days is often difficult. They have a decent selection of film. They also do film processing for about $ 15/roll. I wasn’t aware until after I picked up my photos that they can also add borders if you like and transfer your photos onto a CD for about $ 8. The guys in there are all really nice and even remembered me from a week ago. I will definitely check back with for future photo projects.
