This place is disappointing. We went during Restaurant Week in my first visit to NYC. Someone in our party insisted that we had to go because it was a great restaurant and it’s in Grand Central. I feel like they might have some good items on their regular menu, judging by what I saw some other patrons having, but the prix-fixe Restaurant Week menu was full of disappointment that would not make me want to try regular items. I’m pretty sure this place mainly gets by on the fact that it’s in Grand Central Terminal. Wouldn’t return; wouldn’t recommend.

We had time to kill before the theater and decided to stop here for dessert, about 5 p.m. The main thing here is the location — on the west balcony of the main hall at Grand Central Station. Absolutely stunning. For me, Grand Central is the focal point of the western world. I love the place. For the location, it was surprisingly quiet and easy to talk. They have a dessert tray with about eight offerings and they all look wonderful. I had lemon pie and my friend had English pudding. It was a bit pricey, but the flatware, china, and crystal were first class. Lovely experience.

Come here for the ambiance — quintessential NYC location — but not the food. The pricey food is mediocre and the portions are minuscule. I’m being kind.

Folks… even the dishes looked like chef boyerdee. I ordered some penne thing I was underwhelmed with and my friend ordered a pasta with olives but both dishes looked like and tasted like a kid made it with pasta and prego. I do not recommend but I would try the real ciprani in soho as I love Italian and therefore can be very critical

Good place to have a drink while waiting for your train or whatever reason — Stopped by on Sept 24th — what a glorious spot overlooking the magnificent Grand Central Terminal and that awesome roof with the constellations.

Not nearly as cool a vibe as the original location, but the drinks are just as well made. And since there’s something about the tourist crush in GCT that shuts off the part of my brain telling me not to buy overpriced Old Fashioneds, I’ll probably continue to stop in.

Terrible service today even though the restaurant was half empty! Waiter brought our appetizers along with pasta entrée. He never came back to ask us if everything was okay. Our drinks were empty for at least 15 mins… had to ask a busboy for a Bellini which I still did not get… after 10 minutes I asked another waiter for one which he brought. I don’t understand this! There were 4 waiters hovering over the step up to the balcony chatting up each other yet paying no attention to the customers. They never asked us if we wanted dessert. This was the 3rd time we had dinner here… the last time in March in which we had no issues. Won’t return!

We stopped here for a drink while waiting for our tour of grand central to start. Cipriani Dolci is one of the two restaurants that allow you to eat/drink while overlooking the hustle and bustle of Grand Central Station. It’s truly a unique experience and something I’d highly recommend doing once. I tried their Bellini which was of course expensive($ 16) but by far the most delicious Bellini I have ever had(like really really really good!). Beers were more reasonably priced($ 7 or so). The servers were very friendly and there is a large bar selection. We didn’t eat this time around but it appeared that prices were understandably high… after all, you’re paying for the view! They do have a brunch special that includes a mimosa or Bellini. My advice would be to grab a drink here(or splurge for a meal if it suits you) and take in everything there is to see(wedding pictures, running train goers, marriage proposals, wide eyed tourists, and more!) in one of the most beautiful stations in the world! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I went here for their Summer 2015 Restaurant Week lunch. It’s located on the West Balcony of Grand Central with a nice view over the inside, but unfortunately the food doesn’t live up to the view. For $ 25 I had the gazpacho, grilled branzino with salad and a vanilla meringue cake. Overall the food was pretty good, but the portions were small(the branzino especially) and fairly lackluster. Overall I would recommend it for the view, but not the food.

The only good thing about this place is the location that is all. Service was not that good, though waiters are standing right by the bar area overseeing the customers, just in case they need anything but somehow pretended they didn’t see you. At first we we’re offered with water or the fancier kind of water that came from a spring in the farthest country some sort. I can’t understand the waiter at first and the other waiter probably saw me and explain what the other waiter was asking saying, they said have tap water if I don’t want the fancier one. My very expensive stomach went for the tap. lol! The other waiter was looking at me which I found little rude. Was I supposed to apologize for not don’t understanding him him or could be that we asked for tap water instead. Since this was our first time here, we’re trying to get some help with the menu from the waiter and unfortunately that didn’t go well either. They gave us the hardest cold baguette. So, I end up ordering the pasta that they have. I think it was the tagliardi, I’m not so sure. I do have the photo of it though. Anyway, I was so disappointed. There’s no sort of presentation, it looks like a baked hash but it was on a shallow plate that you could probably make at home just or something you can microwave. There’s nothing special to it at all. Nothing. My cousin order penne puttanesca and said it has no flavor whatsoever. They gave us some a crackers after finishing our food which we didn’t care for at all since I was just wanting to get out of there. We paid for something that we didn’t enjoy and every time this happen I always think, «how about if I had just brought some crackers with me. We found out that there’s a food court in the basement. It has shake shack which made me more upset that I went to this place. My 2 star was just for the location, nothing else. I will definitely return to grand central but would certainly not come back to this place. Go to the basement and you’ll find more and better food option.

Ate lunch here and had a nice experience. The food was very good. We had the branzino and the bass and both were very good. They were also accommodating with my swapping side dishes, which I appreciate. The service was also quite good, and the staff was appropriately attentive. Being in Grand Central, and at the height level of the restaurant, was pretty cool. If the prices were a bit more reasonable I would give 4 stars, but it feels somewhat overpriced.

If you want to have the ambience of Grand Central Station, and a view of the voluminous space, then this is the place to be. I had the risotto which was huge and it was not bad; better than most places. The dessert was great. Particularly memorable was the blueberry tart. Overall experience was very pleasant.

5 stars for the atmosphere and view of the open interior of Grand Central! The tables are arranged on the west terrace of Grand Central on the upper level providing for excellent people watching and ambiance. There is a full bar and menu. We chose an assortment of appetizers and then were too full for more, but will be back to have a go at the full menu. The service was not great, but they were extremely crowded and even navigating the packed tables to sit down was a challenge so I won’t hold that against them. Sit by the balcony and watch the people go by!

gah. wut a joke. don’t come for restaurant week. just don’t. just don’t, ok? highlight of the meal were the free bread sticks. apps and entrees were so average and so small. my fish was possibly the most bland dish I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant. my friends pesto pasta had not a hint of basil. i bumped up to two stars because the vanilla cake they brought out was incredible. Oh, also– the amount of time it took for them to bring us our check was longer than the meal itself.

Location is good because you are sitting at Grand Central Station, high above watching the busy world go by. My friends and I went during the Winter Restaurant week for lunch, choosing this place because we didn’t have to walk the streets after our subway ride during this freezing winter day! Service was good, attentive. Bread was dry but the bread-sticks was crunchy and savor. The restaurant week lunch menu was simple and the dishes has no special presentation, but all good even though small portions. Dessert was way too sweet for my tooth but overall I had a good first time dinin experience at this location compare to the other sites.

I came here for lunch during restaurant week with a few friends. As a New Yorker I love Grand Central and I’m always happy to be here. Ciprianis its a great restaurant since its right in the terminal. The first thing I ordered was a bellini since that’s what they are known for, it was pretty good even if it was $ 16. My meal was okay not the best I ever had but I enjoyed my lunch due to the company and location of the restaurant. The service was okay not the best and had to look for the waiter to get our bill.

I came here as part of the February Restaurant Week, expecting something nice… The view of Grand Central is lovely, but the food was downright disappointing. I don’t think I’ve ever been this upset with a meal before. The 3 course set menu sounded promising, but each course was served cold and on plastic plates, and with plastic cutlery. We tried to hypothesize as to why the cutlery was plastic — maybe so no one could throw forks down into the bustling station? Or because it was Restaurant Week? Either way, each course was cold and it felt more like food you would get at a picnic that had been thrown together haphazardly. The spaghetti was literally heaped on the plate with sauce on top and it was appetizing neither in appearance nor taste. There was no effort to garnish any of the food. The dessert — there was only one option — was a merengue, which looked better than the other courses but also tasted below its price. I wouldn’t come back, even for the regular menu. Also — the bathrooms are located upstairs in a dingy corner of the station and are absolutely tiny and in bad condition.
